Currently, I have several thick BGS graded cards(thick slabs), but one of them feels more sturdy, because the one feels sturdy got an extra layer inside the case while the others don't. I am just wondering why Beckett didn't put these extra layers in every thick slabs, however, the cards move without these layers. In the picture, I highlighted the extra layer with blue lines. http://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/w466/wjisaint/bgs%20cp_zpshebijphj.jpg (http://s1077.photobucket.com/user/wjisaint/media/bgs%20cp_zpshebijphj.jpg.html)

I have multiple of these in thicker slabs, jersey cards in particular. I actually prefer the plastic insert behind the sleeve so that the whole sleeve doesn't just float there in the slab. I'm guessing it's a cost issue to not include them all the time. I've had mixed results with asking to have the plastic insert included.

Thanks for sharing the info. Anyway, do we have to especially ask Beckett to put the extra plastic layers in side the cases or these "extra" plastic layers are actually part of their work, but they just somehow forgot to put in?

I agree that they need to be in every thick slab or dont make the slabs so dang thick, completley unnecessary, and it is why I don't grade anything about 100pt

We need to suggest Beckett for doing this and let them know that we customers think the extra plastic layers are absolutely necessary for thick slabs, otherwise the thick slabs feel so empty when knocking on them.

Generally BGS tries to put the card in a regular standard holder, even though some of the thicker jersey cards (Immaculate, NT, etc.) may fit in one. If the card has white borders though, the card can get a "wet" look from the inner sleeve because the slab is squeezed too tight around it.
Here is an example of that:

BGS will re-case it in a thicker holder at no cost, but getting the plastic insert included doesn't always occur. :-(
