thought that too except those cards were numbered #/1274
I think those who criticize Panini for bad photography might like this set. To me though, the catch is, as it usually is $$$. This goes for $125 a box, I'd take a crack at one or 2. This goes for $199, $250, etc. I'll pass faster than you can say "Whowantssometimelesstreasures."

I think you mix up with Topps Signature and Panini Signature.
Panini Signature has /25 for 95% of the cards, but with 10+ variations. Topps Signature is the sticker dump with 6000+ copies of Yi's auto.

No way this is $125 a box. Probably $1000/box with rookies seeded 1-2 per case
Not saying that's what it *should* be priced at, just that Panini will push such a MSRP based on the rookie cards #/8

can't really accurately guess on a case price until we know how common the rookies will fall, and overall production run.

Those Landscape orientation cards look alright, but the product overall looks dull and boring.

Maybe Panini should work on taking care of redemptions instead of launching a new high end product. The Nba season is gonna be over either today or fri and they still have what 5 more products to release! More redemptions I guess hooray Panini!!!!

Anybody know the exact number of 14/15 basketball product releases in total there is/will be? I can't believe they have so many products this year, probably just because of the strong rookie class right? Can't blame them for making big money, they are a business. All in all, there will be plenty plenty plenty rookie auto's/Kobe/Shaq/Malone,Durant,Bird all the big names. After years of hating this drop in value for a john Stockton auto for example. When Panini finishes all their products for this year, I'm going to be able to afford just about any auto that I want, besides LeBron and Jordan!

I guess the action photos are step forward, still way too busy with fonts and windows and labels all over the card. I am just an old fart, who actually prefers a full card photo with one or two simple design elements around it. The Durant "Award winning sigs" look the best though. At the assumed price point that this is going to be, I am not the target market anyways. I can't justify paying $200+ for one box ,er one pack, er 5 random cards.
I would love to see the breakdown on number of releases for the calendar year. Already released and targeted. How may Wiggins RCs are actually going to be in the market at the end of the year? The market does seem to be going (have gone?) full circle back to the over-production days. It just feels different with number of "limited" products and parallels.

panini stated that 14-15 would have less sets than in 13-14, i think thats true, barely, i dont know why they dont release a couple more during the year where they always have about 2 months between releases at certain points, or like a retail product or 1 low-end hobby product during that time. then in the summer they seemingly have the most.
in almost every case, if a high-end product doesnt have auto/patch cards in it, with a couple parallels on them, the product is not going to be worth it on average. 14-15 spectra is a high-priced product that isnt all that great regarding roi probably, but at least it has plentiful auto/patches and a gold/green parallel on the right player can be very expensive and pay for a couple boxes or more. i dont see that potential from gala.

To me, this is what makes or breaks the product.
If there are 20, 30 or 50 variations , each #/8, then I don't see it going so well. Collectors will see through the artificial scarcity.
If this is a super limited product where there are only say 80 Wiggins RCs in total or less, those RCs will have secondary market value and will be chased.

Even it is only 80 Wiggins RCs in this product, add that to the other 20 products with 100+ apiece, there is no shortage of Wiggins RCs. Super collectors may want to get them all. Is there any reason to go after a Wiggins RC from this set if you already have one in another high end product of your choice?

Well def not a great deal but more reasonable for a non high end, high end, lol. If this ends up being $300 a box can you imagine $60 a hit!?
at the end of the day the way I see it and most of you I think would agree when you bust a high end product especially, you go in with the understand that your, say $450 bucks may leave you with let's just throw out, $200 of hits... but if you DO hit, you can double your money and if you get really lucky you could pay for a case maybe more. I don't see any semblance of that thought here.

I think something like this product would work better as a $65 1 hit/1 #base product. It's roughly the same kinda price point but that $65 2 card box would go down a lot smoother. The losses wouldn't "feel" as big and the big hits would feel even bigger.

High end collectors generally are not going to go out of their way to chase Wiggins RCs from 15 of those 20 products, so at the end of the day they will be chasing the top 4-5 lines (NT and Immaculate RPAs and Flawless base cards are pretty much guaranteed to be among them) - you may or may not like the design but if there are only 80 Wiggins RCs total, regardless of the design there will be collectors who will pay thousands of dollars for them just because of the scarcity and presumed high end nature of the product.
That's not to say that Wiggins rookie cards would not go down in price if he struggles, but there is plenty of demand in the BK market to support prices of 500+ total 'high end' rookie cards as long as that player is still hyped.

i dont think at this point in time a 1 hit or 1 + base product would be that popular. signatures was the least with like 4 cards and that was $100+. i think panini would rather keep a "cheaper" box in the $60's range for something like hoops or court kings. i dont think theres been a 1-2 hit box since 06-07 sp signature. theres too many 99 cent autos now that unless a 1-2 hit product was done really well, itd probably be horrible. and if it was done really well, thatd probably mean itd cost $100+, not 60's.

It appears to me that they are simply putting in 17x8 = 136 total rookie cards in this whole product - seems likely you may have to bust 10-20 cases just to get one true rookie card.
I think some of you guys need to take a look at Panini's preview of these cards rather than the photoshopped versions in the Cardboard Connection article. The cards look great (except for the die cuts, but let's face it, how often has Panini had decent die cuts?).
It will be interesting to see how much these costs and how the international distribution will work.

Great idea to do international as I know Topps had done the same with baseball.

I am intrigued as a couple of things on this release:
1) How 'international' this will be distributed?
It will clearly hit the Asia Pacific [APAC] region, but is it going to also land in Europe & Middle East?
Anyone on here have any knowledge of current Panini distribution outside of the US?
2) What this will do to the secondary price of the cards sold
Will a the lack of a US primary market result in the cards being higher or lower than their peer high-end releases. On eBay there currently does not seem to be a huge amount of difference between the results of auctions for the same card from a seller in Hong Kong or New York....but will this be different.
