I plan to buy a case of Bowman Chrome baseball when released later this season. I look at the rookie call ups and the prospects still in the mix and I think this could be a killer product this year. Yes, I know many felt it has not been good in the past but look what last years has done once it was out for awhile. What is the opinion of those of you out there who look at this upcoming products potential? Good or fair? I am in for a case of each, hobby and jumbo.

Like death and taxes, Bowman Chrome being a terrible product and break is a guarantee.

2 out of the last 4 years have been really good though.

Bowman Chrome is a terrible product every year, not sure why it would be any different this year. I do however believe that it could be better than last years BC if they include Moncado autographs.

That's not accurate.

Which 2 do you actually think were any good?

I assume he is referring to 2011 and 2014 because the prices on those products went up as a result of the chance to hit a Harper or Bryant. They're still bad products and breaks though.

Look at the rookies in this years. Bryant, Pederson, Correa and more with the call ups. If T Chrome has a good line up this will too, so we will see in a few weeks.

Even if the chances of either of those 2 are slim, they're still in the product. The price wouldn't have gone up as much as it did if the demand wasn't there. If the demand is increasing on a product after the release day, I'd have imagine it's at least a breakable product. If they were truly terrible like the other years, the price wouldn't go up as much as it did. 2011 had Trout rookies to help if you didn't hit a Harper and 2014 had 2 different Bryant autographs to hit.

But all those guys already have bowman chrome autographs... :D

No idea about 2011, but 2014 being terrible is an understatement. The only thing keeping it afloat was the inclusion of 2013 BC Bryant COLOR. It was nothing close to a breakable product, and the only reason for justifying the box price was the high-risk/reward of hitting one. And I think it was something like 1 every couple cases at best.
And as far as the Rookie class, if you're busting Bowman Chrome instead of Topps Chrome for the Rookies (and looking for value), you're probably doing it wrong.

If you are just looking for rookie autos stick to Topps Chrome.

I agree with this.

like the others here, I agree. I'm only opening two baseball products this year---Allen & Ginter for fun and Chrome for the rookies/auto's.

Do the first bowman product and the last, don't touch anything in the middle.

Yes, the only exception is when they miss something and put someone like Harper/Puig/Bryant which doesn't seem to be the case here. Even if they included Moncada, he doesn't have anywhere near the same hype the other three had at the time of release.

The Bowman Chrome will have the same rookie autos as T Chrome and maybe more. Depends if they get them all in T Chrome. Better chance since a later release. So, whats the logic on T Chrome is better?

Topps Chrome is geared toward rookies. If you are busting a box or case of Topps Chrome, you are guaranteed to get the rookie autos. Since Bowman Chrome is geared toward prospects, you might only get a couple rookies per case. Also the later release doesn't usually mean autos of guys not in Topps Chrome. It usually means more autos of the rookies that sign for every product and were already in Topps Chrome.

Topps Chrome is just the general go-to product for rookies, while Bowman/Chrome/Draft is geared to the prospects. As mentioned above, BC rookies are usually just more filler of guys that already sign in TC or other rookie products like Finest.

Bowman Chrome is actually an awful product if you're looking for rookie autos. Last year there were only 5 rookie autos in the entire product and the year before there were only 7. You'll be lucky if you're able to pull a single rookie auto from an entire case.
Topps Chrome on the other hand will have 35-45 rookie autos in every release and you get 2 rookie autos in every box (24 per case).
That's the logic behind it. Bowman is king when it comes to prospects but Topps Chrome is the go to product for rookies.

I do not believe Bowman Chrome will be good this year. I am trying to think of any big prospect names that have yet to have a chrome auto, who could be on the autograph subject list.
Y. Moncado?
M. Conforto?
G. Torres?
I am sure I might be missing a few...After that it falls off huge, and those names will not suggest a strong demand. Sure, the rookie names could be nice, but they have all already had multiple autographs in other things and TC will be more rookie driven anyway.
