Really not a fan of the 1 spot this year...and of course, I have it in one of my leagues. I'm between 4 guys... charles, lacy, Ap, and Bell. If Bell wasn't suspended it'd be him, no question. I think Ap will come back with a vengeance this year. Love the offense Lacy is in, and Charles is a touch monster and catches a ton out of the backfield. He also plays Oakland twice. Curious what you guys think... if my arm was twisted today I think I"d lean Charles... but I've been flip flopping almost daily.

Since bells suspension was lowered to two games I wouldn't have a problem taking him 1. What about marshawn lynch?

Bell all day. Yes he is suspended, but who cares. You do not win FF in week 1 or 2. Leveon Bell was the most consistent FF RB last year, and is in the probably the 2nd best offense in the NFL. He also has no one competing with him, very few miles, and he had 2200 rush/rec yards last year (83 receptions if you are in PPR).

I would then target Latavius Murray later for you RB2 unless someone falls to you in the 2nd.

Ap was my selection in a 14 team league I drafted already. I would consider bell but the suspension hurts him, lacy I wouldn't consider and Charles is due for another injury and I wouldn't think about him either plus look at his weekly outputs, boom or bust. What happened the last time AP had some time off? Safest pick in my opinion

I'd base the pick on the settings of your league. If it's PPR, that gives a bigger edge to Bell and Charles. Non-PPR, AP then Lacy.

Also, I'd look at how many teams make the playoffs. If you're in a league where 50% or more of the league make the playoffs, take Bell. That way, even in the worst case scenario of 0-2 start, you still have a good shot at making the playoffs. In deeper leagues or leagues where only 4 teams make the playoffs, you may need to go a little safer with that #1 pick.

Personally, I'd go Bell. There are a lot of late round RBs you can take that will give you the early week production you'll miss, such as Tre Mason, Chris Ivory, Alfred Blue, or Deangelo Williams. And if you take at least one RB each time it comes back to you at the turn, you should end up with a decent RB3 anyways.

I think all the 4 you are considering are generally safe. Just pick whoever you feel most comfortable with, or who you want to root for the most.

For what its worth, outside of 2013, Charles has never topped 45 receptions or 500 receiving yards, and only twice has he had more than 300 yards receiving. I think the notion of him getting a boost in PPR leagues is a little exaggerated. I mean Lacy had more receptions and yards than Charles did last year and even Lynch only had 3 fewer catches and 70 more yards. Pretty much all the top RBs offer very similar, if not better receiving #s than Charles.

I half agree with you. Looking at Charles career stats, I thought he would have done more in the receiving game than he actually has, and it's not giving him as much of a boost as someone like Matt Forte. But looking at career performance, Charles' 35/300/3 can be seen as his receiving floor, whereas 2014 were big jumps for Lacy and Lynch in terms of receiving (though in fairness, Lacy's career only spans 2 years).

I think Lacy is underrated as a pass catcher, and have no problem taking him over Charles in a PPR league (and I have). But if you are equally torn between all of them, I don't mind using Charles' consistent receiving numbers as a tiebreaker.

Some great points guys, and I appreciate it. Every post had merit, which is why it makes it so tough. Couple things that stood out to me.

I definitely agree Lacy is an underrated pass catcher. He had a couple games with over 100 yards receiving I think. Also, 4 teams make the playoffs out of 12, making every week matter a bit more than other leagues, which makes me hesitate to take bell. You go 0-2, and you are really in trouble. Good stats on Charles as well being more of a pass catcher than he really is. Still got some time to think about it..my draft isn't until sept. 6th.

Oh I agree. It just seems like in most fantasy circles, Charles is thought of as a PPR monster, when, outside of 1 year, he's basically been average.

I'll be honest though, I'm not a huge Charles fan. I think Bell, Peterson, Lynch and Lacy are all safer picks at #1.

I'm beginning to leaning toward bell at #1

Lacy is the safe pick but AP has the most upside. Just my 2 cents.

The #1 pick seems awesome this year...really hoping for top 4. Appreciate the mocks I've done in those positions.

AP, Lacy, Bell standard

PPR
I'm taking Bell even though that 2 game suspension can kill you in say a 10 person 4 person playoff league..

As many have said Lacy seems to be the safest pick

after looking at some stats today, i may have eliminated lacy... only 3 games over 100 yards rushing...only 5 games with 15 plus carries. that's the one that scares me...
