We are in the opposite boat. I've got the gold (9.5 to boot), but need the damn black. Even have a base ref 9.5 too. Want to track down a black and see how the condition is before I go for an xfrac to complete the rainbow.

Fact is that it will be a $2,000-3,000 card because it is his most sought after card and there are only 100 of them. Tom Brady's most sought after non auto rookie is the sp authentic /1250 and Peyton manning is the sp authentic /1000 and those are in the $2000 range. It's just a matter of time before Rodgers gets there and surpasses them. I have 5 of them and am looking to buy more if I can get them cheap. I would have bought that one for $750 if I had seen it :). Anyway, you know where some are if you want to check back with me later"

There's 2000 manning SP authentics and those cards are true RCs. The black ref is a parallel.

This card is $1k max in gem condition. He could win 10 super bowls in a row and it wouldn't be higher than that.

You're preaching to the choir. I refrained from accusing him of being a meth-head, but it was tough. I just let him know that I could never pay more than I paid for the gold. That was that.

I was talking the base topps gold/50.... Not the refractor. For whatever reason I don't care for those 05 gold refractors at all. I think the background color change was a really poor idea

The ceiling on the black is really high. I think a raw copy is a 1000 dollar item in 3-4 years. I think 1k right now for a 9.5 is a really good price if you can have a little foresight. Had I not already purchase one earlier this year I would pay 1000

I don't disagree that it could get to 1k eventually. It's just not there now.

Last psa 9 went in the mid 700s.... I think a 9.5 black is close to 1k now, but I can appreciate your dilemma. Maybe all the injures cause him to hsve a more average type season and you could get a raw at like 450. Best of luck on your search, I do think it's one of his few must have rookie year items

IF the guy was firm on 1k, I wouldnt think he's nuts. (for a 9.5). But remember, he wants 1500 from a bgs9. That is a denizen of Crazytown.

Those sure are nice. I've seen the paper golds and they're cool, but I think they're vastly overvalued. If one ever came up at a reasonable price, i'd certainly have a go!
