2004 UD SweetSpot Frank Thomas Sweet Threads with black pinstripe #STS-FT
2003 Topps Tribute George Brett game used jersey card #TR-GB

Picked them up for about $15 shipped. The Brett looks better in person than what the EBay listing showed...kind of has a refractor type style like the mid 90's Topps Finest.

Now this is what I am talking about! Nice selection of players and years, oldest being 1984 (I happened to pick up an 84 Donruss Mattingly last week). I've dipped my toes into modern stuff (can't help but love 2015 A&G), but it's time to go back to my roots. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me to get back on track!

I'm waiting until the off season to start spending more heavily again, at least on the modern stuff. I'm thinking of grabbing some of the more classic vintage cards at least the ones I can afford in conditions I can afford. I think cards like the 1957 Brooks Robinson and 1968 Nolan Ryan, etc will at the very least hold their value over time. I want to pick up some of the good 80s/90s cards in good condition as well (Ripken Topps Traded, Jeter SP, 89 Griffey, etc). Diversify the portfolio.

This was in Milwaukee...the monthly Gonzaga Hall show. The Packers-Bears game at noon forced many dealers to pack up and leave by 11:30, and even some regulars not to show up. Still a really good show as always, just a little lighter in dealers than I am used to.

Gorgeous Ryan's....I was a big fan of the Stadium Club 1st day issue cards back in the day. I thought the 1:24 (one per box) ratio the coolest thing ever. Of course my best pull would be a player like Ellis Burks while my buddy would pull a Frank Thomas or Cal Ripken.

Finally got it in hand!! Unfortunately, the 2011 Platinum Canary had to be returned since it ended up being a freakin "test proof" not the actual card. It wasn't mentioned at all in the listing, but I should of looked at the crappy picture better and noticed the no 1/1 stamp on the front. No issues returning it though thankfully. It was through TNT, so they may have just made a mistake listing it and not noticed it was a test proof since they list so much stuff. Either way, I'm really happy with my Futures patch and haven't had any issues with the return.
