Closing the league at team #14.

frozenntimesports
09-06-2007, 04:51 PM
2 slots left, will close the league if no more interest, that way we can iron out rules etc. Sign up by Sunday or we'll just play with 14.

Darn, I didn'tknow this involved taking some kind of test.

Does anyone have a cheat sheet???

Close at 14 or the teams will be as watered down as the real NHL. With the way my fantasy teams always seem to get riddled with injuries I don't want Boogard on my PP unit. Just a thought.

The league is set at 14. It is currently H2H, which is fun but can be a roller coaster ride based more on luck than intelligence at times. Rotisserie also has a stroke of luck to it but is more stable.

I'm OK with either. We also have categories to choose from. Currently we have G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, SOG, FW, W, SV, SV%, SHO as categories. We can add or subtract categories. Available categories are:

Skaters:
Points
PPG
PPA
SHG
SHA
GWG
Shooting %
Faceoffs Lost

Goalies:
Starts
W
L
GA
GAA
SA
Saves
Save %
Shutouts

I propose the following categories make sense in this league:

Goals
Assists
+/-
Penalty Minutes
Power Play Points
Short Handed Points
Game Winning Goals

That gives us 11 categories, ensuring a winner each week in a H2H league and really has no effect on a rotisserie league.

Also, we should talk about prizes etc. If we all pitched in $50 that's $700 to throw in the pool. I would think if we did that we should order something from Blowout since Chris is letting us use this board.

Wins
Save %
GAA
Shutouts

$50 is a bit rich for me. $20 or so i could do probably though. all pitch in 25 and you could get a case of 05/06 parkhurst or something.

for whatever it is worth I would prefer rotisserie- how would we do the $?? just sent it to blowout and have Chris hold it? I dunno- maybe we should just play for fun. We do enough gambling when we break a box of any UD hockey product...................

I prefer the rotisserie as well - it is more consistent than H2H.

09-16-2007, 07:45 PM
Please speak up folks. I have 3-0 in favor of Rotisserie. Monday I'll make the final changes because the draft is early & I want to give y'all a couple of days to prep. Can you smell the ice?

H2H sucks IMO. Adds even more of the luck element than a points league.

frozenntimesports
09-18-2007, 08:34 PM
OK everyone, this is the deal. Draft is Thursday at 9 PM.

The league is now Rotisseire, the vote was 6-0, so those of you who didn't vote, too late. These are the categories:

Offense: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, GWG, SOG
Goaltending: W, SV%, SHO

That makes it a 10 category league.

These were what people told me they wanted, so I did my best to gauge what y'all wanted.

No one wanted to do a prize, so this is for bragging rights on the board (which is worth plenty).

Oh and a couple of big talkers didn't join the league, which is disappointing, but again we are a 14 team league and it should be a lot of fun... so let the Sid & Alex lottery countdown begin.

I am cool with the roto league. I just found out that I will have to work thurs night though... but I will still be in the league. I pre-ranked my players, and hope for the best...

Keep me posted on what we figure out for payment/prizes etc.

Sounds like fun,

No, its all board members.

We closed it at 14 a week and half ago, sorry, but its a bit late in the draft planning to add 2 more teams. I'm sure we'll do this next season, I know it doesn't do you any good now, but welcome to the board.

Oh and yeah, this is just for bragging rights. Its not fair to figure up a prize after the draft. If someone's draft goes to hell, its really not fair to ask to contribute to a prize at that point.

Jughead
09-20-2007, 12:54 AM
Oh, he's not new. I remember him. But if you add him, then you need to add a 16th also.

Would anyone care to comment on the draft last night?

Who made out like bandits, who lagged, differences in strategy (offense, defense, goalies, trading ...)

I was able to pick up Sidney Crosby last night in second draft postion! :D Some of the goalies picked will not ever play in the NHL and are not on team depth charts. Overall, some teams will be weaker based on biases toward favorite teams and less knowledge about individual player performeances and injuries.

bryun

Well I am fairly happy with my team... and am anxious for the season to get started...

I did have to get Naslund though, as I am a Nucks homer, but tried to not get all Nucks.. though Luongo would have been nice.

cant wait,

Dan Boyle out 4-6 weeks with cut tendons when a sharpened ice skate landed on his arm, severing them. Reminds me of the Mike Matheny injury when he cut himself opening his birthday present and missed the stretch run for the Cardinals, or when the shortstop on the Rockies hurt himself carrying meat.

Its easier to get 100 points at forward than 50 points at D, and Gonchar might get 80.

I can afford to lose 60 points on D, can you afford not to have them? Make me a counteroffer, I have a lot of goons on my squad, I might consider Avery + Gonchar for Ovechkin + a lower tier player.

LA & Anahiem opened the season yesterday. I had noone playing in that game. How did I end up losing 13.5 points?

Because other people did. Anyone with Kings or Ducks playing have stats now, and that means they have better stats than those that do not.

i just noticed shots count in this league the other day. since AO shoots about twice as much as sid, that's huge. so he's off the market now. 50 goals and 450 shots should help a good bit.

carcillo is playing solid on the 2nd line and 2nd PP. Gretzky seems to like the kid a lot. only downside is he's yet to have a FM yet. i think Wayne told him to tune it down.

Sorry, a little late to the party I'm afraid. Hopefully next year, but we have played 14 teams two years in a row, so we might want to run two leagues rather than delve deeper on the rosters.
