Admitted to the Hospital for an undisclosed reason..

The fact that the Heat are keeping it so private makes me think it's something stigma attached - either mental health or drug related (or both). Would think they would be a little more open if it was a purely physical thing (ful-like symptoms, heart problem, accident etc.)

Thoughts go out to him and his loved ones - hopefully everything turns out ok. Scary coming a few weeks after Lamar.

Whoa. I'm hoping it's something that's easily solvable, and not something mental/drug related. He's been playing really well for the Heat, so it would be shocking if it wasn't something physical. Good luck GG!

Between this, and the Joseph Randle and Jay Ratliff issues last week, lots of weird stuff going on in pro sports right now, and a lot of it stems from what appears to be mental health issues.

According to TMZ, Multiple witnesses at the condo tell us Green was acting strange in the lobby of the condo ... screaming at the top of his lungs.

We're told from several people that there was a huge commotion and it took several people -- including emergency personnel -- to restrain Green and get him on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

One source tells us ... one of Green's teammates was at the scene and tried to help ... eventually getting in the ambulance with Green.

We're told cops did respond to the scene and tried to clear out the lobby -- telling everyone, including residents, they needed to leave the area.

Reading more, it does seem outside of just physical issues. The police say he wasn't arrested, but others are reporting he had to be restrained and taken to the hospital? Man, this is sad news no matter what the outcome.

Maybe he had extreme alcohol poisoning?

He wouldn't be standing or yelling. He would be on the floor.

I've seen some weird people with alcohol poisoning that are passed out one minute and back up roaring the next, only to pass out again and be in trouble (Thanks Fraternity). Just saying, I think it's possible.

I'm just hoping it was a one-time mistake if it was drugs/alcohol, and not something more serious

FWIW, I heard it was Mario Chalmers who was the teammate there that helped restrain him.

Well he was out of the NBA entirely from 2009-2011 for apparent maturity reasons. He doesn't seem to have it all upstairs, and that's always been the knock on him since he came out of high school. This just happened in the past 2 weeks...

Miami Heat: Gerald Green fined $25,000 for menacing gestures - NBA - SI.com (http://www.si.com/nba/2015/10/23/gerald-green-fined-menacing-gestures-heat-vs-wizards)

and then after getting fined for the gestures, he posted a picture of it on Instagram with the caption "cost me 25 might as well post it"

hmm. that sux. I am a big fan of G Green and the heat this year. I hope he is not to fuct up. Hopefully it was just a bad trip or he was drunk and he isn't scitzo. It sure sounds like a schizophrenic episode. Poor guy.

SteveO, He doesn't have it all upstairs because he made gun gestures that Lebron James has made and throat slashing gestures that have been made by many other Nba players, let alone Reggie Millers choking gesture to spike lee????

i loved watching GGREEN the few months he played with the nets. it always seemed like the guy was a little off but obviously that is just an outside observation. hope it's nothing as serious as schizophrenia and he can continue his life

No, I said it seems like he doesn't have it all upstairs because that has been a common perception of him since he got to the league. And this recent little tidbit seems to further that perception.

^ IMO it doesn't further that tidbit at all...I think a lot of NBA players have been guilty of making those same gestures. It's just that the NBA is so sensitive now, in the 80's and 90's the throat slashing gesture was common. I think just last year Lebron did this:

The double standards are hilarious hahaha.

I'm talking about him apparently losing it in the lobby of a hotel. I'd say that furthers the perception quite a bit. And it wasn't the gesture that I think was incredibly dumb, it was getting fined for it and then posting a picture of it on social media as if he was proud of it. Following now?

Yeah I agree with the hotel, but that's all speculation, and there have been a lot of athletes that have done a lot of questionable things on social media. I can comprehend everything you are saying. My whole thing is there hasn't been anything official that has come out yet. And if it officially came out that he had some mental issues, then it is so asinine to say that we should have seen this coming a mile away because A. he makes gestures on court and B. he makes irresponsible decisions on social media. If that was the case the majority of the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, etc would be considered head cases. Following now?

I live for your responses hahaha. Let me map it out for you man:

The OP made a post about Gerald Green and being admitted to the hospital and the OP said that it could be related to mental issues or drug abuse. Then you made a post about how a lot of weird stuff has been happening in sports and that it appears to be from mental health issues. All good and dandy.... Then a member asks "Does anyone know if he had any of this type of stuff occur before this incident?"

If you responded with something about Gerald Green doing something crazy out of the norm, I would been cool with that. I apologize for putting words in your mouth and making it so extreme but based upon your responses that is the implication that I got from you. A member asked if he had any of this type of stuff occur before and you brought up Gerald Green being fined for gestures and being irresponsible on social media. I truly don't relate either of those to "this type of stuff," meaning his hotel incident. If you do, then kudos to you, and at that this point it's all speculation.

SteveO, you and I very well know that when Tyler 9755 asked this question, "Does anyone know if he had any of this type of stuff occur before this incident?", he is asking because he wants to know if this was just out of the blue or if Gerald Green had a history of similar incidents. You answering him by saying that "he doesn't have it all upstairs," because he had maturity issues and referring to a gesture and social media incident is something I find highly offensive. That is why I am sticking to this thread and responding to you. I just don't think you should label mental illness so loosely when there is such a fine line between character flaws and clinically diagnosed mental illness. It's disrespectful and irresponsible on your part....

So he is out of the hospital now. I am pulling for this guy to get his head straight and back on the court. This guy is one of my favorites to watch especially when he is on a fire. I think he really is wanting to play well this year.
Come on Green pull it together bud!

Flakka is the extremely popular.

Confirmed or a guess? That's what I was thinking too. I think it is good news if it was substance abuse as opposed to psychological issues. Substance abuse is a not good thing but I would assume easier to correct.

The incident on the court that led to the hotel incident are common signs of a psychotic break. Im by no means an expert, but i am a mental health worker at the state mental hospital, and i see this type of stuff literally daily. What green did in the hotel is a very common sign that he was having a mental break, and again im not an expert so that might not have been it, but all common signs point to that. Hopefully it isnt the case, or if so that he can get on proper meds and keep his life together, ive seen first hand what mental illness does to people and their life

This is a solid post, hopefully it is substance and not mental, but in some cases the substance can turn into mental issues.
