Are they still getting any orders out faster than the deadline dates? I have some nice 1986-87 Fleer BK in with them, and I know that a few months back they were beating the deadline dates. Any news on this front? (BTW 5-Day was my level)

I just had a 10-day order and they took their sweet time with it. Grades didn't pop until late afternoon on day 10.

I just called them now with a question on my submission they received a few days ago. Because I had just read your thread, I asked them about this. They said orders are definitely going through the deadline, as they are backed up currently. My submission was 10-day service level. All of my past grading submissions have gone exactly until the deadline date.

But I guess you never know! haha

Okay! Thanks, I remember that being the case a while back so hopefully their business is good for them and us as well. Hoping to get some (at least one please!!) gold labels on the Big guys (MJ, Hakeem, Ewing, and a Kareem Sticker)

I've sent them stuf 3 years agao and two years ago.

Almost always 'day of' deadline.

They were late once, and did not honor their guarantee....just so you are aware

I've never graded any 1986 Fleer before. I bought a set at a local show last week. I sent in some of the better looking ones.

I crushed it!!!!!

Overall amazing results! Jordan 9.5 - WOW!

How long did it take for the grades to pop?

My order was received by Beckett 6 days ago on the 4th, for 10-day service, and there is no submission even viewable.

Came around 4:00 on day 5 of a 5 day.

On another note, this set including the Jordan was stored in one of those Plastic top-fed snap tight boxes. The dealer I got it from has had it since he hand collated it in the 1980s, along with 3 or more other 1986 Fleer sets. This was the last one he had, and had it stickered at $950.00

I paid his price without even looking at the condition of the Jordan, just looked at the back to make sure it was legit. He's been toting the set to local shows for years, and no one bought it.

The fact that all these cards shifted back and forth in the plastic all those years just makes me shake my head. Crazy.

Well done! Yeah, that is pretty crazy. Amazing that the Jordan stayed so nicely. Must have had great centering too. I figured BGS would be very stingy with Jordan rookie grades since prices have steadily risen as of recent. Most of those people that saw that guy's set probably assumed it was fake. Amazing that he didn't get it graded himself. It's pretty crazy how things like this slip through the cracks. I haven't been to a show in years, but this is what makes me want to go. Between you getting this and the Kukoc, it's really tempting. But I'm sure you've also wasted your fair share of time on things.

Congrats on the grades! You're looking at a nice $8k+ profit when all is said and done!

Yes, particularly my trip to Vegas last month with my wife and her family. But, maybe I can put a really nice Kobe in my PC with some of the profit. The rest is for savings.

A jordan that looked that good, and he couldn't sell the entire set for $950? That is NUTS!

I'm holding the Jordan card right now. Beautiful and now the centerpiece of my collection. After seeing it here, I looked around on eBay to find it. PhdBeckett was extremely helpful in getting it shipped quickly and securely - first rate gentleman!

:)!

Just me but I don't see how the edges received the grades they did. If those were cards from a new release I guarantee the edges would have been graded a 8 or 8.5.

Anyways, congrats on the amazing sale. Sounds like the new owner is very pleased as well.

Check out just about any high end 1986 Fleer graded with nice high resolution scans. The left or right edge shows some white and that is allowed as normal on these cards. I studied scans before I decided to grade these. I probably have a lot of raw 9s sitting here (meaning the other 120 or so cards from this set I did not grade yet).

If you do no scan with a black background (open scanner bed) the white background will mask the edge wear on these issues. Once you understand what is considered mint, nrmt, gem mint for a particular issue, you can pick out cards that will gem overall, even with a 9 as a subgrade.
