How does everyone feel about the carry over 5 wins of last year being counted on this streak to the 33 wins so far, so instead of Xmas day against cavs being a possible 28-0 it would be "33-0" because of carry over? To me it doesn't really count it should be during one season or is that just me?

Everyone on TV usually says 28 and 0 this year and 33 and 0 overall. I have no problem with it

If people want to put in a record breaking or record tying context , then it has to be in a single season , otherwise call it what they want .No asterisk needed.

Says the record book ..

But seriously .. Even op had to put in quotes that number 33 , there is more than needed explanation in the future if it were to happen or an asterisk..no need if it's a true record streak,.

EThey are two separate stats.
-Single season winning streak
-Overall winning streak
I think the overall winning streak (which includes two seasons) is the one everyone cares about.

33 in a single season is what the 71-72 lakers did. That's the one to break. I don't think the cross season matters considering there were lost playoff games in between

It's a four game carry over from last season. They're currently 24-0 this season and have won 28 regular season games in a row.
A streak is a streak is a streak.

Bucks are going to end it tonight so it won't matter

It counts for hitting streaks in baseball, so a winning streak over two seasons should count basketball.

But it has nothing to do with the playoffs. Playoffs are a completely different entity. It is the record for the most consecutive regular season wins which means it should have the ability to carry over between seasons

That's right, it clearly states "regular season" in brackets.
At first I had a problem with it, but this is how they go about things.

Should be single season record.

Should be single season. Still a streak, just one no one really cares about unless they break the single season streak.

Should be single season record.
Agree. last year was last year. The record is 33 straight in one single season. If they don't beat it that doesn't make what the Warriors are doing any less impressive. I don't need to spruce it up by combining stuff from last season.

So a winning streak is capped at 82 wins then? What if a team won the last 32 games of a season, they can't break the record?

No one is ever winning 82 straight games so we won't have to worry there. If a team won the last 32 games then sadly yes, the single season streak of 33 from the 71-72 lakers is safe. That team could win the next few games the following season and have the longest regular season streak though.

Greg Monroe did get this. He ate their small ball lineup alive in the 4th.

It's crazy that the Bucks stopped the 33 streak on the Lakers team and that the Bucks in 2015 stopped this streak as well hahaha.
