2010 Topps Finest: Tebow and Clausen!!

I hate the word 'mojo' just as much of any of y'all but I felt it was deserved.

Just got back from my lcs where they got a shipment of Topps Finest 2010 Football. The box they had opened was almost empty so I asked if they could open a new one.
Grabbed a couple packs from each mini box and left to go to the gym where I would be motivated to work out knowing I have a nice dessert of packs to open afterward. :)

Opened the first pack, got an Adrian Peterson refractor #084/399

Second pack had a Rashard Mendenhall refractor #229/399.

Opened the third pack and saw a thick card... started wondering who it could be.. I slowly flipped through each card until the thick card was next... Noticed it was a double jersey with dark colors and then realized it had to be a quarterback considering the pose the guy was in...scrolled down and saw the signature and realized who it was instantly.

Jimmy Clausen!

Not only that, but it was #'d 2/25! Then I realized "wait...his jersey number is 2" Sweet - eBay 1/1 haha. :flex:

I was already happy just with that until I opened the last pack and noticed it had a thick card in it as well! This had to be the patch autograph... I was getting all jittery wondering who it could be... Then I realized it's probably going to be a crappy player 'cause I had just pulled a low numbered Jimmy Clausen jersey autograph.

So I do the whole flip through the cards slowly routine until I get to the thick card... First thing I see? In big bold capital letters:

TIM TEBOW :D

At first I couldn't believe it - I thought it had to be a normal rookie card.. then I saw the autograph and was like "WHOA!" :eek:

At first glance, I thought this was another double jersey card for some reason...but then I looked closer and it wasn't a normal jersey - it was a giant patch! And then I looked at the numbering... #1/5!! (his jersey number is 15, so that's sort of an eBay 1/1? haha)

I thought I was in a dream for a minute haha.

Now I don't know what to do. I instantly put these cards in a sleeve and normally all my hits go into my personal collection... But with Clausen getting the starting nod this week and the Tebow being low numbered, it's tempting to put them on eBay...

If you PC all your hits, but its tempting to put these ones up, I would suggest just putting up one [Tebow, and do it NOW].

That way, you get some extra coin to bust two more, maybe three more boxes, and can keep the Clausen for your PC :D

Exactly. This shouldn't be sold by the pack. One of my shops did it with Finest baseball and now they have a bunch of mini boxes left with hitless packs because everybody would ask the clueless girl behind the counter to open a nex mini-box and pull the thick pack out.

Regardless though, that's amazing luck on those hits. Congrats!

Well I picked the last two packs in each mini box if that tells you anything. But I agree there should be decoys.

It's illegal to sell by the pack, so I wouldn't put the shop's name on here for obvious reasons. But I'm sure people realized this as it's in capital letters right on every pack of finest :)

very nice box, altho im still baffled as to why tebow sells so high. i can understand right now, but man he really has very little potential towards being a superstar , producing QB in the nfl

Thanks. Yeah I learned that from my uncle who used to sell coins on eBay before he passed away due to cancer (RIP). It's pointless to start at a high price if you know it's going to sell well.

Some packs also state minimum age requirements, too. Do you think cardshops are carding 7 year olds? Which part of ATF do cards fall under, or maybe the FBI covers these high-priority cases?

it should do well, I sold a Tebow auto/patch #d 1/10 from R&S for $195, this should go for over $200 for sure

I hope it does better... There's only a few hours left. Not to complain, but a Tebow patch auto #'d /10 just sold for $400+ a couple days ago, but my auction is at $250 with 3 hours left... Nervous time!

People have already set their spikes last night. So it should jump within the last hour. That is what my Mike Trout Gold Ref. Auto did. Jumped from $250.00 to $400.00 in the last two hours. Make sure you are on hand to answer any questions that come in. Usually on a high-end card like that people like to ask questions at the last minute.
