i have never seen what has happened to me with of course a fairly expensive item, i sent something from ebay to los angeles, it arrived on dec 19 at one los angeles zip code, it was delivered on dec 20 to a different zip code, which was not the buyers zip code, then on the 21st, the tracking number has more info saying "package research case created". ive never seen anything like this and i really really dont wanna get screwed out of the money on this when its not my fault. has anyone ever seen anything like this at all?
it seems the post office knows they somehow messed it up since they created a 'case' about it, but i dunno how they would get the item back unless the accidental recipient gives it to them. of course the buyer has created a dispute even though they "just wanted to email me about it", somehow a dispute magically appeared instead of just contacting me. so i assume at some point paypal will rule against me and ill be screwed but does anyone have any experience with something like this.

I'm in somewhat a similar situation....But my package I sent says it is at a Anaheim facility and has been there since December 11th. I'm just waiting on a response. I figure it will show up someday and I will be out the 17 bucks that the items were sold.
I hope they get your situation corrected because it's total BS that we should be out of any money due to USPS error.

i wish my sale was only 17, i dunno i was researching it a little and this seems to happen but from what ive seen so far this 'case' is opened when a buyer files a claim or contacts the post office wanting to know where the item is or when itll arrive. my buyer is claiming to not know about that so who knows.

Yeah me and the buyer agree we did everything right but I'm sorry you might lose a substantial amount of cash:(
On a side note our problems are both in California.

Print out that shipping history and leave it in your mailbox w/ a brief description of your complaint. Let your mail carrier sort it out.

The linear answer here is "the wrong person receives the package".

Hopefully the person who received the package is ice enough to give it back to usps to deliver to the correct address. I've had this happen before. However, if they're not nice and decide to keep the package, you may be screwed.

Hope for a honest person that got it.
This happened to me. I was the buyer not seller. The carrier went back to the house and no one knew anything..

i am in Canada and i sold a card to someone in Washington and he opened a claim and said he didn't receive it but the tracking said delivered,we both agreed that i sent it to the right address but they delivered it to the wrong zip code,it was a $400 sale and i was afraid that i was going to lose the case but we worked together on the claim and he told ebay that it was USPS that screwed up and not me,to my surprise they reimbursed him his money and did not ask me for the money back:)!

My situation the buyer agreed to wait it out to see if it comes after the Holidays & New Year. I did get a response but it was information we already knew
OP I hope your buyer works with you and your situation is solved.

pretty much depends on the honesty of the recipient sending it back

This is why I won't ship things in December. Had a situation just like this last year that ended up with me losing cash and card.

I had this happen to me as a buyer, cards were sent from overseas and delivered to the wrong address for some reason. I tried to schedule a redelivery but the package was lost by the wonderful people at USPS somehow. Waited 2 months and nothing so I filed a paypal claim and within a couple days got my money back.
Unfortunately for you it seems as if you're going to be out the money for sure. Hopefully you get the card back!
