Noticed a Tony Gonzalez 1997 Flair Legacy /100 sold for $190 the other night. It appeared to have slight chipping, normal for these cards, but nice overall. Still, twice what I would have guessed.

The gem masters are amazing. Wish I didn't trade mine, but traded it with the player who probably had no idea what he was getting. Montae Reagor (Broncos - Texas Tech). Very nice guy. Got some cleats and gloves around 2001 training camp. Maybe the only guy that owns his own gem masters.

The team 2000 set is from 2000 Score, featuring on card auto’s on reprints of the player’s Score RC. They are #d to 50 and were very popular on release, and tough to find now. I have Bledsoe, that’s the only one I’ve been able to add to my collection. There are a couple others I want, they just don’t pop up often. Nice get on the Smith!

Actually I was looking for the 98 skybox Autographics Marino blue ink at that time. Still a more valuable and rare purchase than that 97 Essential Credentials, no matter how much you try and pump up that set.

I actually didn’t start grabbing KAJ stuff again until 2011. I bought a giant lot of 5000 Dolphin cards for $50 that included a 98 UD Game Jersey and 99 Century Legends Game Jersey of Marino and several other inserts I didn’t have. I sold off the autos and made my money back and then some. When going through the cards, I found myself stopping on the KAJ, Sam Madison, and Patrick Surtain cards. I said #@#@#@#@ it, started setting them aside and started saving the ones I found in the lot and slowly started collecting those guys too. It’s been a lot more fun collecting than constantly speculating on people I don’t care to watch play. And probably a more sound investment than anything of our modern day Dan Fouts with a Super Bowl ring.

that 2001 Playoff Honors dual GU set /25 was sick back in the day. I had a marino with part of the nameplate that was a monster of a card back then. I can't remember what I got for it.

I recently picked up this Marino recently. I wanted this dual for a long time. One of my favorite autograph sets.

i really tried to make it a priority to get all the big names from this set.... the atomic look with different die cut patterns is awesome; plus if you hold the card the embossed feature is sweet as well. the only bad thing about this set is the fact they are not serial numbered. i would have loved /74 like basketball or whatever they actually are... i have heard anywhere from 30ish to maybe even up to 250

Huge and highly underrated set right here. I'm looking for the Herman Moore but haven't see one pop up in a while. These were 1:2600 packs, with 10 players in the set. 1:26,000 for each of those Favres is pretty insane.

I love seeing the low end 90's inserts just as much as the rare stuff. The lower end cards bring back so many memories since the majority of us pulled cards from the same sets back in the 90's. Those Select Gold Team inserts were highly sought after back in the day.

this area of collecting is really unlike anything else..... you can find emmitt, elway, barry items for under 5 bucks that look just as nice as the 500 dollar stuff

you don't have to sacrifice player or overall quality look to still have fun in this space; it's pretty unique in that aspect.. you just need to designate what price points you like then go to town

on a side note, haven't heard from you in a while.. lmk if anything good is for sale :)!

PSA branched off into PSA/DNA in 1998 after 12 years of success as a grading company. You might want to reference a little card called T-206 Honus Wagner to find out how PSA started and why people don't like paying top dollar for opinions.

Also, I was working as a kid in card shops since 1994 Stadium High Series with your precious Marshall Faulk Bowman Best Refractor in it. So, yeah. I sold some nice cards and some nice Beanie Babies in my time. Life use to be good. I call them the "pre-Kyle" days.

by year's end he will be top 15ish in all time qb wins, top 15 in td passes, top 15 in yards, he is already 12th all time in qb rating, 8th in completion percentage, a first team all pro, and NFL MVP

a career playoff passer rating of over 100 with 20 tds to just 7 picks

all of that and just 33 years old...... with a contract structured such that he will be the atlanta starter for 5 more years bare minimum due to the cap hit if they were to cut him

he projects as a better version of philip rivers since he has an mvp and his playoff passing blows rivers away.... stats similar per year average

he projects as a better version of matt stafford since his yards and td's equate to actually winning a decent amount of games; plus his efficiency is much better than stafford's slightly higher volume stats per year

and if not.... well i like ryan so i'll keep the cards anyway, hahahaha

Here is a completely random card that was part of a lot I bought. I had never seen one of these and they are really stunning foil cards. I was scouring the internet to find out more info and it seems they were a special "expansion team" set from 95 Bowman so it only includes the Jaguars and Panthers. I wish there was a Barry of these! The starburst reminds me of 97 essential credentials. There was a Wayne Chrebet like that. Priced at $10 or $20. I told a super collector about it. He didnt believe me, even when I showed him samples of the regulars. He never bought it. Someone else did and it has sat on eBay for $100 forever.

The 1997 UD Jersey I pulled from a blaster Kmart box the day after Christmas I'm thinking around 2000 or 2001. Paid $20.00 pulled a $200.00 card at the time. Now I would be lucky to get $20.00 out of it.

Those Fabric of the game auto patches are one of my favorite autograph memorabilia cards ever! Those Barry's a sweet. That's a great hoard right there.

I always liked them because they were something I couldn't afford back then. From what I understand people waited 15 months on a redemption to get the Barry auto's. I had a few people tell me that story. I haven't seen one for sale in 11 years. I know of a couple others out there, but they are locked up in Barry Sanders collections.

I keep wondering which cards of Barry I have that might of been in Twisty's collection back in the day?!?

Anyone see a bunch of these listed on ebay in baseball last week? They were started pretty cheap ($5.99), and included others, like a Randy Moss. Tracking shows mine shipped, so I guess I can talk about them now...lol. Not many more rare Pacific cards. For Gonzalez, I think there is only one 1/1, outside of printing plates.

Pacific's premiere date parallel - no doubt inspired by the first day parallels from Stadium Club going back to 1993. The difference between the two, of course, is that was possible to open a pack of Stadium Club cards with at least a little bit of excitement and anticipation.*

The original first day issues from Stadium Club were not serial-numbered, but did that matter to us busting packs twenty-five years ago? It did not - it was a tough pull when you were buying a few packs a week, and Stadium Club was more expensive than the basic Topps stuff, so that was big excitement. So to you, Topps Stadium Club first day parallels, and (less enthusiastically) to you, Pacific premiere date parallels, I give a hearty FIRST!!!!!! like some idiot in the Youtube comments section.

*This has been another edition of Joe dumps on Pacific.
