Ebay Global Shipping Program?

I know this isn't a basketball topic but i wanna know how the ebay global shipping program works, i sell sports cards on ebay & want to sell international as well. I have seen mixed reviews both good & bad so i wanna know opinions from you guys. It says that basically you ship the items to kentucky & they handle everything else sooo do i just print the label & it has the kentucky address on it or wut? Thankyou

I swear by it. You take ZERO risk. When the item sells, the buyer does pay a higher P&H cost but Ebay charges them above what you charge and you do not control that.

Item sells. Buyer pays. You print label just like any other paid item. Address is always in USA and varies by whatever airport it will ship from. You are ALWAYS covered if you use this system.

I had a buyer in Japan say they never got the item ($250 card). Ebay saw that I used their system and tracking and I was never charged the charge back!

I use it exclusively. They will never find you at fault for using their own system!

I have had great luck with it as well. I sent some high end comic books this way last year and everything went fast and smooth. I have had a couple of buyers cancel orders on me though after Ebay charged them for the shipping. They said it was going to cost to much money on low end cards which I understand.

That's the only global shipping program I will use and I sell Rolex and high end watches on eBay.

I love it, it's the only way I sell internationally. If someone from Canada wants something I'll work with them, otherwise, they go through eBay. If they don't like the import and shipping charges that's too bad. Gotta keep my best interests in mind and the program helps you do that.

Yeah not so great for us Int'l buyers...charge $25 to ship a few cards from the US to Iceland when USPS would charge $3-5. Fantastic program :/ The price is so ridiculously high for some shipping routes that there is no way to justify it.

Used it with great success for selling cards normally over $300 or more. Zero risk and you get to open up your auction to the international market. Can't tell you how many times I have been bailed out by Asian based buyers (either thru auctions or best offer options).

The savvy international collectors open up accounts in the US at COMC and other local sites and they assume the risks of shipping overseas but still Ebay's Global Shipping program is a great option to selling overseas.

Yeah some folks still want cheap shipping overseas for higher end cards. For the most part, most Ebay buyers overseas are generally OK with paying $25-$40 on shipping for higher end cards. What they want to avoid like the plague is the customs/import fees (certain countries such as mainland china have exorbitant rates).

Sometimes, there's just some cards I don't want comc to handle because of their value so I'm happy to pay the GPS instead of waiting 4-6 months till I ship my comc home.

It is a complete and utter rip-off for the buyer.

There a card on eBay they seller had for $10. Global shipping was over $30.

They also charge "import fees" when a) there wouldn't actually be any and b) wouldn't actually pay for any import fees. I read their terms and sent them to our customs who confirmed that they didn't know of the company claiming to take care of the duties etc and warned that I would almost certainly still have to pay import fees on top of the "import fees" I would have already paid with the purchase. Basically, it's a sort of scam for ebay to make money, while giving US sellers peace of mind for international shipping.

Yeah, and that's why I've had a couple of buyers cancel on me. Both of them were in China also and had to pay customs fees also. It was going to cost them around $50 for one card in shipping. If it was a $500 or over card that might be ok but on lesser cards it would be ridiculous.

Exactly this. I've never heard a kind word from an international buyer about it, despite the fact it's fairly quick and painless. The extra cost is never worth it to a buyer trying to buy a cheap item.

If you set it up as a seller, you will lose a Lot of buyers who simply do not want to pay those prices. But in the end you may save yourself the headache of a lost shipment.

USPS would charge a minimum of $13.50 now.

You're game paying the $3 option on mailbox items. Even with 10 cards X $25 are you sure you want no tracking on $250 of cards?

The cost you state for shipping will be paid to you, as normal. The buyer pays eBay directly for the additional costs in getting it delivered directly to them from Kentucky, or, any of eBay's other hubs across the country.

If you state shipping is $2.99, then you will be paid $2.99. The buyer may have to pay an additional amount to cover import fees, taxes, additional FedEx shipping, etc. to get it to them. Once you enable it, you can actually go to your auction listing, click on the shipping tab, and pick a country from the drop down. It will show the additional charges the buyer will need to pay in order to get it to the country in which they reside.

But it's not that - It's an absolute con.
They charge for import fees that don't exist.

I hate it with a passion. Decent idea overall, but it's not legit the way they execute it.

You may be absolutely right buddy. It may not be the best solution for a buyer.

I can only speak from my experiences (about 10 or more sales) and there have been absolutely zero problems. I never once had a buyer come back to me to say, "Hey! I ended up paying more than what was shown on the auction listing, or, above and beyond what eBay had initially quoted!"

But, there have been times where a possible buyer has asked about the additional costs, and I clearly explain why so they know, more than anything, that I am not profiting from those shipping costs.

Sometimes they understand, and buy the item. Sometimes they don't. I can't fault them if they don't want to pay for it, but, they shouldn't fault me either if I don't want to take on having it not deliver, or, deal with a person who will eventually claim that they did not receive it, when they actually did.
