Hello all, looking for some advice. I got my first negative on ebay in 17 years.

OK, here's the deal. I sold a cheap card, like a couple bucks, I didn't use tracking since I would have lost money if I did.. I've sold like 60 things in the past couple months, but low and behold the guy with the lowest feedback has a problem.

So he messages me, saying he didn't get the card. I say just wait a little bit, you're covered, let's see if it shows up as we've had many storms here in the mid-west that have affected shipping times.

He then opens a case/claim. OK, so be it. I did say that was a jerk move, but thought well, that'll take a few days, maybe he gets the card by then. I mean the guy is getting his money back because I don't have tracking fine, he then leaves me a negative...WTH, I didn't think you could do that while a case was open.

What can I do???

I've seen some that have reposnses from the seller about a negative..How do I access that option?

Also, if I refund and the case closes, I didn't think negatives could be left. So would that go away if/when that happens??

Any insight and advice is appreciated...Again I'm not experienced with receiving negatives, as this is my first in 17 years..

Thanks

Oh, I almost forgot....

He did threaten negative feedback right away, if I didn't refund asap... I reported that to ebay, but who knows???

I am not sure how the system works. I just know that the system is very one sided.

I just got my first neutral in 19 years, so I can understand your plight.

Johnnyonefinger neturaled me over a $5.00 sale.

Ebay always sides with the buyer. I called ebay on it and asked them to remove it and they said "no". Ebay even said, "it could have been worse. he could have left you a negative". Ebay only cares about the all-mighty-dollar. Way to customer service there ebay.........

From my understanding, as soon as you're threatened with negative feedback eBay will take your side and wipe it out

^^^^

I hope so, I forwarded it on to ebay this past weekend, nothing as of yet.

I just should have refunded the few bucks if I knew it was going to cause this, but I just thought, a couple more days, he may get it or admit to getting it, and if not I could refund then...arghhhh

Can you pm the buyers user id? I also send out a lot of low end cards without tracking and would hate for that to happen. I know itd be more responsible to send with tracking i just dont want to lose money on each transaction haha

I will within a couple days....Want to see if anything is done here by ebay.

I know I run the risk, but to sell these cards for a few bucks, definitely adds up for me to get something nice and if I spent 2.54 minimum on shipping/tracking, I wouldn't make any money, and when I add 2.54 shipping people don't bid on the $2-3 cards

Thanks

I would call directly to eBay and talk to some higher up (meaning people who doesn't have accents) and tell them u were victim of feedback extortion

Sucks man. I got my 1st neg last year from a guy with less than 10 feedbacks. Did a group scan of 4 cards, and clearly stated twice in the auction that they were only bidding on 2 of the 4 cards. He contacts eBay and says not as described, he get pp refund and hammers me with a neg. I tried to get eBay to remove but they wouldn't.

I just chalked it up and moved on. No one really pays close attention to feedback anymore (I know I don't) especially if the seller have 500+ positives. there is always going to be that a-hole trying to get over on the system.

Thanks for the input guys...I guess you live, you learn. Just moving on....

Sounds like since the original delivery date was passed, that filing a claim on Sunday and threatening and then leaving negative feedback is OK??? Whatever

I will take responsibility for calling the guy a jerk and saying that after he filed and if he did receive the card and not report it, he's stealing it.....Nothing big, and not making excuses, but I was a little upset with my first negative.

In any case here is the username. Less than 10 feedback score

Why not refund him, apologize and ask that he revise his feedback? The higher road sometimes works with these clowns.

Under your negative feedback there should be somewhere a link to "respond" to it. I've had to do this once before, it sucks.

Caught a guy running the usual "item is a little dinged up, I want a partial refund" scam. Guy was already reselling the item with no mention of this alleged 'ding'. Showed ebay and all that, asked to have the 1 negative removed and they said they can't because the buyer left it because he was unhappy with the transaction. Didn't matter that he was lying and caught lying, he wasn't happy with something so he's "entitled" to leave feedback he feels is appropriate.

I kind of alluded to that in my first post.... I don't see a place for that? Do you need to be a powerseller or something like that to get that option?

On the first page of your main feedback screen scroll to the bottom. Link is located there labeled as 'Reply to Feedback received.'

If you want the feedback removed, call in. Tell them that you received negative feedback from someone who threatened to leave you negative feedback unless you refunded them immediately... and instead you decided to go through the process that eBay provides, and since you didn't submit to his feedback extortion tactic he decided to leave you a negative.

Most of the time you've gotta call if you want this handled properly.

The only advice I can add is that I highly recommend using COMC for cards that are not worth the cost of shipping with tracking info.

Don't all USPS First Class packages come with tracking now automatically? May be wrong..not sure..
