Oh God, I hope Frankie Edgar has been in the gym training. That was the fight I REALLY wanted to see for McGregor. Hopefully he's in a position where he can step in and keep this a very, very good card.

I truly think Aldo WAS ducking McGregor when he backed out of their first fight but RDA isn't and hasn't been that type. Also think about the fact that McGregor had nothing to lose coming into the fight and RDA had EVERYTHING to lose in the fight....why take it when you aren't healthy?

Edit: Just saw Edgar is injured too. Damn. Best to push this out and try to let somebody get healthy to fight him.

heard edgar is hurt....and also conor bulked way up for the cut to 155...i doubt he wants to drop back to 145 with only 10 days or so notice....and at 155 if he fought edgar then it would just be a random fight...for no belt...

its a crappy situation...and i really wanted to get this PPV...but i say just pull him to ensure he is fine for ufc200 as well....cuz him fighting here made that a risk as well...and they dont really have anything else that would make 200 worthwhile...so they need Conor for 200...just pull him from this now...do Conor/RDA at 200 instead....unless he still will be out...then he goes back to 145 i guess...but i dont want to see him fight at 155 vs Nate or Cerrone...that seems just dumb to waste a fight with no belt or no real weight behind those matchups...they both would be fun fights...but not much meaning behind them...

Cerrone fought 2 nights ago so he's out.

Literally all of his potential opponents have either just fought or are hurt. No doubt to me he'll get pulled off the card.

Cerrone took no damage in a 1st rd stoppage...he would take the fight most likely...but i hope they dont do that...just cuz id rather see more of a buildup for those two rather than a rushed fight...but yea hoping they just pull him at this point

I don't think they will pull him....that would be the 2nd PPV in a row gutted by injuries. I think Connor will fight.....but Cerrone is a longshot IMO because his last fight being up a class @170 he'd have a bitch of a cut in front of him.

If they made it a 170 fight....I could see Cerrone being game.

That said, I don't want to really see that fight with 2 weeks rest from his last fight AND only 2 weeks to prep for the best guy in the sport right now.

Wtf. This stuff is getting ridiculous. They should just move the cormier-jones 2 fight to this card and let rda-mcgregor go April 23rd when jones-cormier were supposed to.

I'm guessing when they saw the size of RDA's foot, they backed off that plan if it were even possible. I heard that RDA wanted to fight but no doctor would clear him.

Diaz/McGregor at 170 it is - Probably not the right fight for Conor but I bet it generates a better buyrate than RDA/McG would have

I'm honestly a little more excited about Diaz McGregor than I was RDA. I know it must really suck for McGregor to go from fighting for another title to fighting a guy who has nothing to lose. I doubt Diaz will stand a chance but I'm interested to see how it goes.

Yeah, I do think it sucks for McGregor, always training for a particular fight and then on 2 weeks notice change of opponent... Aldo all over again... He will take Diaz down anyway...

Here's a nice article about it :D

I do see Diaz going down, but lets not take 15-20 lbs of weight lightly.

lol....one comment you agree and say "no doubt they will pull him" then a few hours later you are saying "no way they pull him from the card"....

just found that funny....

Conor vs Nate...the 10 day buildup will probably be filled with trash talk and will be entertaining...and at 155 i didnt really like it....i see its at 170 though...and cant help but think they are just gonna do Conor/Robbie for WW Title at 200....which would be insane if Conor somehow won and was the 145 champ and 170 champ...

I don't quite get why the fight is at 170. Diaz fights at 155 and the RDA v Conor fight was at 155. I assume its because since its short notice Diaz might not be able to get down to 155 but he doesn't strike me as someone that cuts a lot of weight.

I think this is an interesting fight. While Diaz might not have the greatest record look at his losses over the past 5 years. RDA, Josh Thomson, Benson Henderson, Rory McDonald, Dong Hyun Kim. Most of those guys are are bigger wrestler type fighters. If his Diaz's chin can hold up it will be interesting to see if he can frustrate Conor with all the jabs he throws. This seems like a lose/lose situation for Conor. Beating a borderline top 10 LW on 2 weeks notice doesn't really improve his stock. Losing might kill his shot at a title at 155, although I think the allure of a Conor v RDA fight might be to large to abandon.

Yeah, in that time though they came out and said he would be fighting no matter what so I changed my tune. This was also before I personally considered Diaz a candidate to fight. That fight is a non starter to me. I think the only thing it does is give everybody a glimpse of Connor @ 170 and lets him feel out if he thinks he can compete power wise at that level.

Word is that Connor walks around in the low 180s so the 145 suck is probably brutal for him and the 155 suck probably still takes 2-3 weeks for him. He's probably right around 170 as of now so we'll get to see a well hydrated and closer to walk around weight Connor fighting a guy who probably isn't that much bigger than he is on a day to day basis.

If they were going to do a 170 fight, better to have Cerrone IMO as I feel that Cerrone is obviously the better fighter than Diaz but if Connor is moving up 15 pounds its only fair to give him a lesser fighter.

Also, when I made my remark I didn't take into account that pulling Connor would most likely gut the 2nd PPV in a row....and with them trying to nail down UFC 200 plans I doubt thats what they wanted, to be stuck on 196 for the 3rd straight month.

Obviously Cerrone has improved but lets not forget that Diaz beat him in a pretty one sided decision 4 years ago.

I like Cerrone but I think he will wind up as the guy that was just not quite good enough to beat the top guys. I think a fight with Conor might end up the same way that his fight with RDA went.

1. absolutely agree...i think if conor wins which ufc is banking on regardless....him vs lawler at ufc 200 is a go cuz they will have seen him at 170 already and he will have looked good most likely

2. like stated already...Diaz owned Cerrone badly when they fought...like it was embarrassing...Cerrone is more active...but they are pretty similar where they stand i think...but its opinion either way...in no way is cerrone "obviously better" (in my opinion)

3. if they pulled conor from this in no way would they cancel the ppv....Holm/Tate is just fine as the main event of a random PPV in March....not every card is gonna be monstrous...and the cancelled the last card cuz the main event would have been a non-title fight between hendricks/wonderboy and the rest of that card was already lacking...so after they lost the title fight that just couldnt be a PPV...and they didnt cancel it either...they just didnt charge for it....they wouldnt put Holm on FS1 if conor was pulled...she is the chick who owned Rousey!!! alot of people want to see her again...

Cerrone is shockingly similar to Bisping to me....they just kept winning all the fights up until the one that was gonna get them the title fight...and would lose that fight every time!!! (Cerrone finally did get a title shot...but was from an injury i believe...and he got owned again in that fight)....Bisping got to the #1 contender fight like 3-4 times...and those are basically his only losses in the UFC...

Yup, same category to me as someone like Mendes or Benavidez in my eyes. They can pretty much beat everyone except the top 1 or 2 guys in their division.

On #2....that fight was like 4 years ago. Since then, Cerrone has fought a ton of quality opponents and won...he just lost the big ones. With Nate....oft injured and has only fought like once a year since he beat Cerrone. Cerrone is a better fighter now than he was 4 years ago and Diaz is kind of a wild card at this point.
