FINALLY... The long awaited completion of my 97-98 UD Game Jersey Set

Several years ago (nearly a decade) I started the 1997-1998 UD game jersey set. Many of the cards had become more affordable and I had always loved the set since collecting as a teen when the cards were unaffordable. I loved this set as it had many of my favorite players from the 90s as well as some classic 90s players who had brief periods of stardom. There are some notable omissions but generally it is a strong selection of players.

I was able to get many of the cards in a few years however for the last 3-4 years a few cards were always tough to find, and one in particular, the Anfernee Hardaway blue version was nearly impossible.


Well a few days ago I finally got my hand on one, and finally after many years I can say I have a complete set.

Awesome iconic jersey set that started it all! Congrats on completing. I once started the set as well but abandoned it as it got really expensive. I have near complete sets of 98-99 and 99-00 UD game jerseys.

It's pretty cool to go after this set, I did it a while ago...

I wanted to do all BGS 9.5's but it was/is just too hard to track them down so I went ungraded...

Another cool set is Fleer 86-87 the main rookies only in BGS 9.5 and Panini immac Patch auto's to go with each rookie, but you'll be missing a few...

I wish there was set that had Premium auto patches for each main rookie from Fleer 86-87, I would pay some stupid money when a release comes out with them ALL!

Thanks for the comments everyone. It was certainly tough, but I did it over several years so I never had to put out too much at once. The toughest part is being diligent and checking for cards you need as I certainly missed out on a few blue hardaways over the years! After the last one went extraordinarily high I wasn't sure if get this one.

As for the autographed Jordan..... I don't think I will ever own that card (hope to one day get the 98-99 auto jersey) as I can't see myself spending $45K on a card like that, and I am a huge Jordan collector. If I ever dropped that much it would probably be on a very cool unique piece of memorabilia or a full Jordan game used jersey. Perhaps if I win the lotto some day.....

Well I'm a Jordan collector so I'm partial to that card, but with that said I've always really liked the David Robinson. The Hardaway blue is also a favorite because after Jordan he was my favorite player in the early 90s, and that card was VERY hard to find.

I've always loved the design of this set and personally like the gold foil, portrait / smaller action shot, and the rounded corners in the design. It is quintessential 90s, which is really what I collect outside of rookies.

I've actually considered getting after market autographs on them but worry about them coming out poorly as I won't be able to be present at all signings so I likely won't.
