Stephon Marbury's unceremonious exit from the NBA in 2009 was one of the best things to ever happen to his career. After becoming a basketball icon in China and winning three league titles with the Beijing Ducks, Marbury has now officially become a permanent resident of Beijing, an extremely rare honor. Marbury shared a video on his Weibo account of Zhang Jiandong, the vice mayor of Beijing, presenting him with the Foreigner's Permanent Residence Card.

"I'm so thankful and blessed to receive my green card today from the Beijing Government. It's a true honor to be apart of the capital of China. I hope I can not only help win more championships but continue to bring positive energy and love"

Green cards are difficult to obtain for foreigners, and according to Quartz only 5,000 foreigners have been granted permanent residence. Marbury is the first CBA player to receive a green card.

On Sunday, Marbury attended the Beijing International Film Festival. Marbury is set to star in a movie about his life alongside Korean pop star Jessica Jung titled New Yorker in Beijing, which chronicles his move to China and rise to fame.

While I definitely agree, I always try not to make comments about Asian women because I can't ever tell how old they are. Is it just me or do they look the same age from 16-46?

Never been happier for a guy..I do work for an artist signed to Stephon's label and have had many interactions with him.. Steph is truly one of the nicest guys to be around and was essentially blackballed from the NBA. He chose to resume his career in China and has made the most of his time there by numerous donations to underprivileged families through the sales of his shoes. Last year they even put a statue of him in front of the Beijing Duck arena..

Indeed they are. The goal release date is Labor Day, but considering they're just getting their footing back, it could take a bit longer.

Marbury is one of my top 5 favorite PG's of all-time (Maravich, Zeke, Westbrook and Iverson are the others) and I am thrilled for the guy.

I also believe he will make the HALL OF FAME ... and maybe even on the first ballot ... anyone who wants to disagree with this; please remember it's NOT the "NBA Hall of Fame" but the "Basketball Hall of Fame".

As psycho as he was here toward the end, he was PUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHED HARDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD out of NYK right after declaring he was ready to go and had worked in the offseason to be in the best shape he had been in years. D'Antoni just didn't like him and screwed him royally. It would only make sense what happened to D'Antoni after that and the success Marbury had after. He still had plenty of good ball left in him when that went down.
