I see a sweep as well

I see the Hawks getting 2 games this time around. Surely the competition is better in the second round or are we admitting there is none?
Hawks have to be on a mission to prove something after that collapse in last year's ECF.

Hawks had a better team last year and got swept against Cleveland, so I have no reason to believe they can beat Cleveland in this series.

I think the Cavs are so much better this year and the Hawks are worse.
Millsap would have to be pretty special all over the floor to get them 2 wins.
Nobody on the Hawks can do anything about LeBron, last time they had Carroll.
Kyrie is just warming up and he'll destroy Teague who's having a bit of a down year.
phdbeckett
04-29-2016, 04:42 PM
They'll run Bazemore on Lebron, and that will cause for some heated play. That'll be the extent of the excitement in this series.

I agree we probably get swept but that team last year was destroyed by injury. Demarre on one leg, no Thabo, no Korver, Milsap had shoulder surgery after the series and Baze wasn't really in the rotation. They were wrecked

The display they put on in the first half is why I made that statement. The best scorer isn't always the one that shoots the best percentage. 21 is the record for a playoff game, set by gsw. Let's see if the cavs can at least get 4.

Given how Cam always bags the Warriors for their "boring 3 point shooting" I wonder what his thoughts currently are, seeing as his team are doing just that.
I'm worried about how well the Cavs are going. People are sleeping on them and only talking about SA or GS. They could sneak right up here.

And that's the problem with this team... too good to blow up but not good enough to be a legit title contender.
It's the issue a lot of teams face that don't have a superstar. Only team in recent memory to win it all without a definitive superstar was mid- 00's Detroit, but they had 5 legit all-stars each at or near their primes. Maaayyybe the 2014 Spurs, but c'mon, they're the Spurs.

Agreed. Just have to give them a reason to come to Atlanta. Seems to be the hardest part.
If they end up 0 for their last 12 against the Cavs in the playoffs, it may come down to an absolute rebuild. May not necessarily cost them a playoffs spot but they have to get the right personnel in place.

yea if they get swept again...i feel like you cant sign Horford to some huge deal...maybe some type of sign and trade would help...but you cant just keep throwing money at this core group that will be pretty clearly not able to make that next step...and its a risky game hoping that someone else can take out CLE and you can be lucky to be on other side of bracket and beat that team...chances are for the next few yrs as long as lebron is healthy the road to finals still runs thru them...
or they sign him and are continuously a top 5 team in the east and make the playoffs but dont make a ton of noise...they might be perfectly fine with that result...

Millsap has made some comments about CLE having no class after being up big and going for the 3 point record.
I actually have no problem with CLE doing this. If you're beating a team and can get a record, go for it. Don't bring in the pity rule because one team is pathetic.
Millsap should be looking around at his own team, not the Cavs. Very soft.

i hate when anyone says stuff like this...you cant stop it!!! you want them to stop it for you....gimme a break...you look so weak when you say stuff like this...."they are being mean by still shooting 3 pointers...why wont they stop"....what do you want them to do Paul?? just flat out turn the ball over 15 times in a row so you dont lose by too many?? its the playoffs too...you never know what will happen...if they stop trying and ATL gets back within 15 or so...then all the sudden they make some stops and hit a bunch of 3s themselves and its a ballgame with 3mins left or something...get out of here Millsap...you cant defend it and ur gonna whine about it...horrible...

Terrible move by Millsap to complain about that. If your team can't stop it then you have to wear it. It's the second round of the Playoffs, not some pickup game down and the local rec. center.

I think you are letting the actions of two or three people influence your perception of Cavs fans. There are a lot of Cavs fans on here that don't get involved in all of the pointless arguments, and in all fairness, there tends to be fans of every team, and every superstar that have blinders, not just Cavs/Lebron fans. Personally I think a lot of people just don't want to like Lebron and/or the Cavs. I think a lot of it (at least in the East) stems from not being able to make it past Lebron, whether on the Heat or Cavs. It seems like there are lot of Chicago/Detroit fans (among others), that really don't like Lebron.
I am NOT a fan of Lebron, though I don't dislike him. I am probably one of the only Cavs fans who wouldn't have cared if Lebron didn't come back. There are only three players left on the team that were there before Lebron came back. Don't get me wrong I really like the team that they have put together and its obviously a better team, but it annoys the crap out of me that one player can just come in and blow up the whole team to suit his preferences.

Very well thought out and insightful post. I think most Cavs are very reasonable. The users on this site who often troll and/or have blinders on are just LeBron fans. They're not actually a team fan. Just a player fan and jump from team to team.
The Cavs have been playing this postseason and seem to be in a great flow and make me feel confident in picking them to win it all at the start of the season. I'm a Celtics fan so that's not easy to say, but you have to be able to separate your heart and brain,

My wife could put me into the 5th row if she nudged me while running, and I'm twice her size. Not every hit on LeBron is a flop. Momentum + bump = hard fall. You've never been caught off guard while running and ended up on your ass for seemingly no reason? Physics my friend.
Ha ha, I'll disagree.
Probably not so much of a "flop", but if LeBron wanted he could have taken that bump and kept on going. He was happy to get to the line and ice the game. It's just smart.

A mission is the perfect way to describe it. 46 3s in 2 games is just absurd. I'm not sure who can beat them when they're playing this well
I have feared Golden State for months because of the three ball. I thought all along that would be the dagger. Now we all have to rethink what that series might look like. The Cavs are demolishing record after record including another Golden State one tonight. If they can keep this up, you might just see them out-shoot their way to a championship.
I'm not sure if this is sarcasm.
Are we really all believing LeBron could get knocked that far by Teague?
Bron just sold it to ice the game, he didn't need to go in to the crowd.

It's going to be an epic finals for sure. Cavs are playing with cohesion that I've never even seen before. The big 3 get theirs and there's a next man up mentality right now. Game 2 it was JR now its Frye.
It doesn't matter who the Cavs play in the ECF if they continue playing like this 5 games max. They need to get the sweep and get as much rest as possible to stay healthy for the finals.
I can honestly say I've never seen any Cleveland sports team play this well not even the mid 90s Indians. I know it might be jumping the gun a little bit I like what I'm seeing so far as long as we can keep it up

Teague weighs 186, Lebron is 'listed' as 250... he has at least 70 pounds on Teague. try pushing a guy who weighs 70lbs more than you, it doesn't end up like what LeBron made it look like. he may have caught him on bad footing, but that title of the sbn article saying it was 'dangerous' is just sensationalist garbage.

Get out of here.
Seeds 2-3, yes, the West is better.
But seeds 4-8, the East is much better. Look who the Warriors have played. A pathetic Houston team and a Portland team who wouldn't even make any noise in the offseason or at the deadline because they knew they wouldnt be contenders.
Dallas, Memphis, an injury ridden Clippers. Bottom half of the West is very weak this year.

I think Portland would beat any East team in a 7 game series except the Cavs and Raps and I could see them forcing the Raps to at least 6 games. Playoffs are about superstars and the East has none except the 3 on the Cavs.
In the playoffs, you need guys you can go to at the end of games to take over and the East has none of those except the Cavs. I know this from many years experience being a Bulls fan lol we played lebron's teams very hard almost every game but the Bulls never had a single guy to go to at the end of games.

Disagree on Portland getting through seeds 3-8, but will admit that they would be in any series other than Cleveland, Toronto and Miami.
As you pointed out, it does take guys that can finish and Miami has 2 in Dwade and Joe Johnson, plus a coach that's been there before.
Even so, Houston, Memphis, Dallas and LAC were bad playoff teams. Mostly due to injuries, but that the fact remains that they were first round cakewalks.

Cavs doing what they needed to do.
But let's be honest. Atlanta's bread and butter is their interior offense through Milsap and Horford. And the Cavs strength is shutting down interior play. Teague sucks, and Korver is about as streaky a shooter as they come. Bazemore? lawl.
Atlanta continues to be a 'good enough to get the playoffs' team, but never amounts to anything more. They need a bonafied superstar to take it to the next level. Milsap is great, but he's more a Draymond type that contributes in every statistical category. You can't expect him to shoulder a 30+ppg load nightly.
drobfan8
05-08-2016, 05:59 PM
I think we can all make the point that the Cavs are the only contender in the East. Whereas I've always thought there was 4 in the West until LAC copped all of their injuries.
TOR have been absolute pretenders.
And I'd take POR over any other team in the East (except CLE of course). They have a superstar in Lillard and great coaching, mixed in with some nice pieces.
But I do think this is more of a sign that LeBron and the Cavs have locked in and are playing high level basketball.

Make no mistake about it, the Cavs are coming into true form right now.

This is like the warriors sweeping the rockets. Which, outside of that no-call push off by Harden, would have happened.

To a certain degree, yes it is the same and now I realize how Warriors fans feel/felt.
Although, I would argue that the national media is a Warriors love-fest and praises every single thing they do whereas the Cavs are all but forgotten. They set countless NBA records in the Hawks series and nobody is talking about it.

They don't have a go to guy and in the playoffs, where everyone knows your sets by the second game anyway, you have to have someone who can make plays
Atlanta doesn't
And they have no balls to stand up to Cleveland. Can't coach that. And Bud is a good one.

Not garbage, but frauds who crumbled under pressure.
I thought they were tougher and would've fought more in this series, but they just kept melting down. Disappointing.
Come to Boston Al.

gotta give it to the Hawks, they played with a lot of heart tonight. Solid series for the cavs. Rest up and get your mind right!!!
I agree they played hard tonight but I thought they were jsut pathetic effort-wise this series. Ok they ran into a buzz saw on the road in game 1. But where was the heart in game 2. Where was the killer instinct in game 3. Al Horford wants to stay and says if they bring everyone back they will improve... nope!
Horford has maxed out, literally. Millsap is their best player. Teague is a very solid PG and they have role players like Shroder and Korver etc. But man they need a makeover. They have to move either Teague or Shroder for an upgrade at the 2 spot and they need some size or to develop their young guys like Tavares because their interior defense was horrible as well in this series.
Very disappointing to see a sweep on a veteran team so easily.

If you guys want to over pay for him, please do
He's the number 3 on a championship team. No one will win with him as the 2nd option. And he wants the max
I've watched him disappear way too much over the years

For the Hawks, what do you do? No one trust your regular season success & with any luck you will see this same Cavs teams for the next 2-3 years.

I think the only thing to do is blow it up and rebuild. Keep Millsap, Bazemore, and Shroder, dump Teague and Horford. Get a 3 and D guy because Korver isn't a great defender and another shooter to stretch the floor

It's not like this is a new thing either, my entire life I've had to listen to national media and everyone else put an asterisk next to every Cleveland success and amplify their failures.
Nobody respects this city which is fine, it'll be that much better when we do win it.
I have to disagree. I'm in the west coast and listen to plenty of national radio shows and Cleveland is talked about plenty. Probably not quite as much as the warriors this year but how can you blame people not talking about a team that can potentially be the best team in history? Everyone predicted the cavs to come out of the east from day one. I'm not sure what more respect your team can possibly get.
By the way the 3s barrage in the atl series were headlines everywhere.

I agree with you as well. ESPN just posted a national poll today on who will win the NBA championship and 47% picked Cleveland. GS was next with 31%. You could go to the regional breakdown and see that 45 of 50 states have Cleveland #1. So yes, I think the steam is picking up as far as the national attention is concerned. One week ago and I don't think you'd see those poll results.

Yeah giving him 29 a year is scary, only makes sense if you get a Durant type as your first option

Are you not describing the warriors Exactly and how people here were calling last year's championship lucky?
No people called them lucky because every team they played had major, key pieces injured while they were completely healthy.

Anybody else watching the Raps/Heat? The East is a joke lol Cleveland should bench their big 3 until the Finals.
And don't just say I'm a hater. This also shows me really how bad my Bulls are lol

You can't use common sense. Apparently it's just an excuse and not the reason the Warriors won. Some on here were actualy saying the cavs would have been worse with love and kyrie lmao.

Get over last year. If the cavs stay healthy, from what you're saying you'll finally get your championship this year. Just get the champagne ready

Hard to get over it when both sides constantly bring it up lol. If the cavs are at full strength, they will be better prepared to win then they were last year.
