Scenerio:

Curry comes back soon and actually is an important factor in willing Golden State to another championship.

What do you think some of his rookies will then be going for?

UD Draft/Prestige/Panini......$50-$60 each?
Topps....$500-$600?
Upper Deck.....$150-$200?
UD First Edition.....$200?
Studio.....$75-$100?

Also general base cards all years.....$5 each?

ETC.

Feel free to take this discussion wherever you want it to go. Thanks.

His Topps RC is down under $150 now. Can't see his stuff rising to the heights it was at for a brief period in March unless he comes through in a truly historic way; I'm talking 40 points a game and a series clinching shot in the finals.

It reminds me of when McGwire hit 70 HRs in 1998. His stuff skyrocketed all summer, until once he actually hit #62, the hype was over and the bottom starting falling out.

The first two weeks in March wants it's prices back! :)

Nothing will be that high again save the NT RPA and the Topps Chrome.

The ship has sailed on those crazy prices. Only kept a curry UD Rc for collection. Sold everything else

Well I made some major buys over the last week or so. I definitely could have waited until the offseason for a price drop. I couldn't resist the hype though...that will probably be my loss

Well damn, we know who you're rooting for in the playoffs

He would have to do something special for another spike in prices. Winning alone won't increase price that much.

A potential MVP and championship is already factored into pricing. The peak has passed.

I liquidated all but about ten autographs, which I will sell the next spike.

keep underestimating everyone....

He will be rusty for one or two games when he comes back.

All it will take is one 40+ point game on national TV or a game winning shot, and the hype will return.

As soon as people manipulate the market again, we'll see prices like we did in March.

Surely this thread is evidence that the hype is alive and well. As one would expect. With the hundreds of thousands of dollars that have been spent on topps rookies alone, at some point people need to create a buzz to move their investments. This isn't the first of these threads and won't be the last.

I have about 125 different Currys with 12 or so rookie year, an autograph, many inserts and base and kinda like the guy as a player/person but was also thinking of their value being enticing enough to sell hopefully in the near future. And quite a few duplicates.

Given post #1, this isn't exactly a huge shocker. :)

In all seriousness, I hope your investment does well! I have 2 curry eminence cards - probably about $3500-ish. But I really think it's likely that especially his lower end rookie stuff peaked in March. Even if they win the title. Even if they win 5, I just don't see that it's likely that topps rookies will ever be worth more than they were.

I wasn't collecting Curry rookies in March...what were the average prices? It sounds almost scary. Any specific anecdotes to share?

They were about a million dollars each. Will probably hit a billion by the end of this year after Curry is gifted the next 10 titles in a row and the NBA is disbanded because of how amazing he is

i think the more games he sits out and they WIN easily the harder it will be for his prices to spike up....if they go up 3-0 with him on bench....then why do you play him game 4? just to get work in? that seems like a risky idea....so then say they sweep POR with zero minutes played by Curry...that is not good for his card market i would think...it shows that GS is still really good without him...sure they are gonna need him badly to win WCF and Finals most likely...but just saying if they win what? 6 straight with no curry...in the playoffs...that has to hurt his market i would think....

if they lose the next two to PORT that is prob best case for him cuz then he could come back in game 5 and lead the team to the next round and so on...

Some may say Jordan was great and he had a decent team to play with. Some may also say Curry is good and has a nice team to work with. Yeah Curry hasn't put in enough years maybe yet to strengthen overall value. He could very well be the best on the team with just so many other really good players around him. Talent from the average player versus the next really isn't a big gap I don't think. It could be who's all around someone that can make a big enough difference in somebody's appeal. Some Topps rookies were going for around $500 too I believe. I started picking up Curry right after seeing him play for the first time after the win over the Thunder in overtime. I don't watch much basketball. At the time I honestly didn't have enough confidence in the Topps rookie's price to jump in that water.

Honestly I quit buyin my topps currys when the reprints hit. Is there a easy way to tell if they fake or real from the pics? I think those reprints really hurt the raw value of the card

Fakes have white lettering as his name instead of shiny silver foil. Probably quickest way to tell.

Tonight's performance could rival the game vs OKC that peaked Curry's cards. We'll see if his 17 points in overtime to win the game infuses even greater value to his cardboard. Clutch Curry. What a nice game.

It was a fantastic, close, back and forth game and then Curry takes over and just leaves everyone stunned after watching it

I mean really. Such a great game. And that overtime just shows their are so many levels to human potential. Curry magic.
