The boomer cracks are stupid.
I am certainty not a boomer, and i absolutely hate all of this. Topps is...special. losing them feels like a death in the family. |
Maybe a basic question but does Topps/Panini employ the group in charge of card design? Or do they contract it out to graphic design companies? The success of this change, in my humble opinion, depends on the skillset of card designers.
Personally, I could care less what company name is on the card. I just want to see new, clever card designs (licensed of course). Companies like Arena Design, who were designing cards for Skybox back in the 90's, come up with all sorts of unique and cool ideas. I would love to see more emphasis on creativity and less emphasis on pushing out as many different #'d parallels as possible. Something I don't see anymore are unique cards that have odds of say 1 per 10 cases. Not just a different color but a card totally unique in every way. Today, box and pack configurations are predicable which makes the opening a bit less exciting.
I bet we see a bunch of Topps Fire or Topps x Steve Aoki type designs coming from a Fanatics/StockX brand. |

Panini should just make a deal to merge with Topps now. Give the Topps Executives Golden Parachutes and own the rights to all Topps Brands. |

How are Fanatics’ bot defenses?

Call Center Service will be located overseas, good luck explaining a redemption to them. |
*2023, when the MLBPA license expires.
Does anyone know when Panini's MLBPA license ends?
Yeah, I’m not 100% clear on this. Does that mean the only cards we will have in 2024-2025 will be unlicensed panini? And then licensed Topps with retired players/hall of famers? |
Maybe now we will have a competent customer service team?
I have some bad news for you if you think Fanatics is any better at customer service |
I know my feelings are stupid......but it feels like a death in the family.
Of course Topps has done stupid stuff....but we all grew up with Topps. They were our brand. So much joy as a little kid opening a pack of Topps from the store. |
How are Fanatics’ bot defenses?
Good luck |
Boomer rage coming in 3..2..1..
Creative. Anyone seeing this as anything other than awful for the hobby is a fool. Doesn’t take the life experience of a boomer or lack there of in someone in generation Z to see the massive cause of concern this announcement has caused. It only takes an idiot to make the tired and trite boomer joke and whistle past the graveyard. I’m a millennial for the record. |
Looks like fanatics could get it all.
This is gonna hurt Topps Stock
Also explain why the “arod buying panini” buzz is all but dead. |
Im actually saddened by this. I actually thought Panini would get an MLB license to compete with Topps. But instead, the pull the rug out from everyone and give it to Fanatics (didnt even know they were in the card biz). But this is sad.

Pretty sure Fanatics was the company that took 6+ weeks to ship 2019 Heritage boxes after release day |

Aren’t the parents/grandparents of 30-year olds boomers??? 30-year olds are millennials or something Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Fanatics should buy Topps now. Keep the brand name and everything
|
Could Topps release cards with just the City name and player number? Just use photos where the face is obscured?
|
We need to talk about this George. I've read the above paragraph 4 times and it becomes more intriguing with each read. Psilocybin or something else?
https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/1428454365816401930 Founder of StockX will lead the card business.
|

I want to not like sneaker culture. But, as an autograph guy, i struggle since...its not like we are any better. Especially autograph collectors. I dont know. When it comes to cards i only collect Topps base sets of the Indians and Athletics, and i am worried this may be the end of that. I am bummed. |

He wanted a Sports Franchise and couldnt take on two purchases of that size in a year. |
So does this mean we finally have a bubble bursting?
