if you can pre-order the retail at SRP, i would recommend it.

the retail game is not changing for the better in a month
Thats what I'm doing. Pre-ordered a case of hangers at basically retail. Hobby prices are just insane everywhere.
I ordered a three 12-fat pack lots online for just at cost + tax + shipping. Hopefully they are in good condition when I get them but seemed to have more bang for your buck IMO
Going to $400 a box! Lock in now!!!
Right? with how everything is going it could be $800!

Hopefully they come factory sealed in a box. I ordered fat packs from an online retailer for 2020 Update which they were selling in lots of 8 and they all had some amount of damage even though they were packaged well.

That is what I am hoping, plus it is presell so that is what I ASSUME they will do... Will post how I get them though.

fat packs come 108 loose packs per case
Pre-sale hobby box prices up to $130 now on a couple of the big ones. Might be sticking with retail at these prices.
Except for the fact you cant get retail unless you want to stand in line for 8 hours at Target with the mouth breathers waiting to catch a sniff of the shelf stockers...

How hard will it be to buy from topps.com? Will this be like BDS or will these be up for 5-10 minutes before the bots eat them up?

There will be a very short window of opportunity. You'll have a good chance though if you're refreshing on release day. There won't be a link up beforehand so the bots won't be able to snag them all right away.

I might have missed it in the thread, but what's the suggested retail for a retail display box? Thanks.

Can’t wait for singles!!

$72 is what it should be. I'm sure you'll see other ridiculous prices out there though.

24 packs @ 2.99 = ~72

bbamesjond 01-16-2021 12:08 AM

where can i purchase retail product from in canada? id love to buy some hangers/fat packs if possible at MSRP.

On IG, Topps release a sneak peak and said

"2021 Topps Series 1 has the deepest rookie classes in recent years & here's a sneak peek at a few of them! Which RC are you most excited for?

Showed Alec Bohm, Ryan Mountcastle &Devi Garcia

cardcharis 01-19-2021 01:27 PM

Deep in BS...

Im actually more excited about some of the inserts than the 'deep' rookies.. Ofcourse some random guy will pop off and things will go to the moon

I saw that and laughed to myself....they have to market though, so can't blame 'em.

There is one every year, its just making sure to have a little bit of everyone

Right? Deeper than 2020 series 1? That is a pretty deep class with promise

2021 has significantly more depth than 2020. It was a big drop off in 2020 after the big 3 of Alvarez, Bichette, and Lux.

My Son really wants to open a case of 2021 baseball with me. I'm torn between this and Opening Day. I'm sure this will yield better color, better inserts, and better autos/relics. I'm just not sure I can accept the huge price difference between the two.

You guys should go for a retail 24 pk case maybe. A few hundred less and almost as fun I’m guessing?

Was gonna suggest the same - a case of retail. Blasters would be fun with the manufactured relics 1 per blaster - and a ton of packs to rip.

Probably tough to find at MSRP at this point but there was some available a week or so ago...

parkerj33 01-19-2021 11:54 PM

FYI, opening day retail is cancelled. Very few if any will even be at Walmart or target.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I may either do this or stick with the Opening Day hobby case and then start Series 1 cases next year when I have more money available.

Is this from printing issues due to Covid? I always considered Opening Day to be a retail-centric product. I'd figure they would've cancelled hobby instead of retail. Maybe not enough printed to go the retail route. Any print run estimates yet on this?
