This is one of the progressive proofs for the Montana RC. This card was initially auctioned by Topps in the 1989 Topps Guernsey auction when they opened their vault and auctioned off proofs and original arts. I built a small collection around it like uncut sheet, rack pack with Montana showing and off course the regular card ... Kind of like the every step of the Montana RC... Proof to sheet to pack to card.

It was sold in February without a serial number also. Maybe they just forgot. There hasn't been another one.

When I was a kid, my grandpop discovered he had saved a whole slew of these. I remember he had multiple Ruths, Gherigs, Foxx, etc. From what I've read very few have ever even been graded.

The one pictured is not the one I have, but a picture of the same card I found on the web.

Good news... you don't have to put it in the mail. Just go to a show where PSA is grading and have them do it on the spot. I have some 1935 National Chicle football that I need to get graded and that is my plan because of the issues with the mail. Good luck with grading!

Thanks for the input! Just got back into the hobby last year, haven't collected since I was a kid.

I remember going to a card show with my dad as a kid and we brought the Ruth to see what people said they were worth. (This was before you could research everything online)

Guy at the table we showed it to said it was a fake, my dad chuckled and put it back in his pocket.

It's the same one. Panini confirmed that some of the Championship Tickets did not get the stamp treatment, so I wasn't concerned about that. I couldn't pass it up for the price tag. To me, it's a card I'll hang onto for next year. Should be profitable when has a nice game down the road. It's low risk/high reward.

So awesome. When I started collecting, my dad told me that his mom had thrown his stuff out when he went to college, but he said he didnt have all that much. My grandpa then chimed in that his mom had done the same thing (he is now 89)!!!!
