I've opened 2 hanger boxes and two fat packs. 1 Roberts and a bunch of other decent things. I'll buy more from Walgreens if I find em but otherwise I'm done with those. The yellow Roberts is selling for way too much to not try. :)

That's just insane. I don't even know how that's possible. I've opened up plenty of retail and really haven't had much of an issue hitting the base Robert (also got lucky and hit a Gold). Hopefully you have better luck moving forward...

I'm hitting two stores on the way home. The one nobody goes into so I actually have a solid chance of finding something. There is of course the question of how much am I willing to spend on an otherwise garbage series of cards. I think 3-4 boxes would be my limit.

I don't think it is just crappy luck, but is the way (and possible where) these were packed out. Hobby cases seem to either have 20 Robert or 6 Robert in them and those boxes have different codes on the inner flaps. Half the country is going to think the base Robert is a SP, the other half will think it is raining base cards.

Full disclosure: pulled 67 Robert base in 4 cases.

They’re limited print run. Probably less of those than the golds? Sure seems like it anyways

The Walgreens yellows seem to be much harder to find than golds. Golds are 2020 this year, the walgreens yellows are supposed to be anywhere from 350-800 copies of each card based on the numbers I've seen thrown around over the last two years.

I actually found 2 today. Mine are mostly stocked with crap 2019 series 1 and I’m not buying all of those to get more shipped. There was a Reynaldo Lopez upside down, got excited when I saw the white sox side

Ya the two I hit on the way home didn't even have spots for them. I checked the whole store as you never know where people decide to put things sometimes. So ya... There's like a million Walgreens around me, but I still have PSTD from the Mega boxes so maybe I should just let this one go. :D

Is now a reasonable time to buy a Luis Robert SP or SSP or is there a good chance they fall?

I was just perusing Robert cards on Feebay and I couldn't believe the $500 ask price on those yellow Roberts. Doesnt make sense to me.

I ended up with 4 Roberts plus 3 subset Roberts. Despite getting a jumbo and 2 hobbies, I was two cards short of the base set, and about 70 cards short of a second set, with an enormous pile of trips and quads.

The Lincecum auto was /25 and the McCutchen SP stayed popular enough, so those two cards alone basically paid for my hobby boxes. I got the Jumbo box for about $130 with a nice coupon I had. Selling the Trout relic, the extra Roberts, and a few other cards, I should be able to get down to only about $50 in for the near set along with the other stuff I keep, so I'm good with that, but yeah, I could see a lot of bad breaks of this at these prices.

What is the print run on the SP, SSP and SSSP? Some of those are incredibly cool.

They started the week selling at $400 each, they’re going for $240 three days later. They’ll keep coming down.

No idea. They’re probably more likely to be collected by a player collector, so its value relates more to the Robert auto market than the 1985 auto market.

Sorry to hear man. It can definitely be feast or famine on these. I have 44 here (24 Wally/20 Target) that I'm busting tonight. If nothing else, will follow up with how many base Robert I hit. But, hoping for something better!

I do think hangers are the way to go if you want to rip S2 though. It's a nice combo of easy to rip in quantity, great value, cards in better shape, and I feel like I hit a gold or rainbow foil in at least every other box and typically more frequently than that.

Won a jumbo case on FB, should have in hand tomorrow. Pumped

Finished the 24 Wally hangers tonight (going to save the 20 Target hangers for tomorrow). Fun rip. Nothing too crazy but definitely feels like good bang for the buck with the hangers. Ended up with 4 base Roberts and a Bregman WAR card 2/10 (jersey #). Also got 4 SPs (Yaz/Altuve/Bagwell/Schmidt), 3 Advanced Stats /300 (Leyba/Kramer/Eshelman), an independence day (Bailey), Father's Day (White Sox team), and 2 memorabilia cards (Santana/Cain).

Hopefully some Robert color in the Target hangers!

Saw someone estimate 85 cards of the SSPs in Series 2. Does anyone agree with the estimate? What about the SPs?

I think the SSPs are going to sell well. I got a couple of hangers from Target yesterday, they didnt return much at all. I think I'd be better served buying a SSP or two.

Hangers are definitely the best bang for the buck out of all the variations from my experience.

I opened 9 hanger boxes of Walgreen S2. No real great yellow parallels and not much of anything else (surprise, surprise) except these 2:

I don't think it's SP at all as I haven't had too much trouble hitting the base. I'd say roughly every 5 or 6 hangers I hit one on average. I hit 4 out of the 24 Wally hangers I busted last night. So far, out of the 6 Target hangers I've busted, I've hit one base plus the Gold parallel.

They are not sp. if you open a sealed a sleeve of 8 hangers from a case you will always get 1. Sometimes 2. Typically 10-11 from 64 hanger case.

I’ve only opened 4 hanger cases. But you can imagine if your luck is poor on opening random hangers from a retail shelf you could get skunked easily.

SP was definitely not the right term....I guess I just meant there was less than other cards in the set...but not close to SP level.

Finally, after what seems like years, I did very well on a Topps Jumbo (and it’s 2020 series 2).

The Bob Gibson auto is 01/25. It’s also the smallest version of his auto in my collection.

The luck certainly ebbs and flows in this hobby, but it’s nice to be reminded of how much fun it can be.

I was starting to feel this way as well with the Robert’s. I’ve been buying hobby boxes each weekend from my lcs since the product came out, and in my first 12 boxes I was averaging 1 in every other box. I was seeing tons of doubles of a lot of other players, but not him. But today I opened 6 boxes and hit 10 base. So now I know I was just on the short end of the collation stick my first few times out.

From my observation, if you get a case with the majority of the rcs being vertical, you will only get 6 or so per case. But if you get the majority of rcs that are horizontal, you will get 18-20 robert rcs.

Does anyone know if they are doing the tins again for Series 2?

So, what about these Player Medallion cards in Target Exclusive Blasters? I grabbed a bunch of these because these cards are pretty cool IMO, however I'm not seeing a lot of discussion or mention of these...are these not of interest to anyone else?

They look kind of cool but I think the consensus is these manufactured relics really don't hold value long-term. This is why I prefer the hangers. You get much more bang for the buck and better shot at LouBobs. Not worth it to pay the extra money for the manufactured relic in the blasters IMHO.

All-in-all, not a horrible break, pretty fun rip and surprisingly the medallions are much nicer than last years; front surface is shiny and smooth (back edges still have condition issues).

I've busted way too much retail but I do think it's a fun rip. I'll probably keep going on the hangers. I need to tally up how many base LouBobs I have and I do have 2 of the Golds (1 might be gradeable!). I kind of want to keep going until I hit one of his SPs (or better).

I think the Kieboom SP was in the same blaster as the LouBob as well (may even be same pack).
Possibly the Wallach Vintage stock as well.
