I am getting so frustrated not watching Dominguez play every day. I know he'll have his ups and downs as a rookie but after the week he's had to sit him on Sunday?? This is what has frustrated me throughout the Brian Cashman era. With the exception of Judge we have never developed any players from the farm system. We would rather go after high priced veterans than let our farm system jell and develop. That is what brought the Yankees dynasty in the early 2000s is the young players developing together and it is annoying to see these players not get playing to develop in their careers. How do you sit Dominguez after he hit 2 home runs from the leadoff spot?
There is no way J-Dom makes the play that Belli did…so while I agree with you 100% on the bat, he is quite the adventure still in the field.

It’s a needle they have to thread better for sure!
This is the result of the terrible contracts and immobile players we have. We have to find at bats for big dollars in Stanton, LeMahieu, Goldschmidt and so on. Goldy has been ice cold, Stanton is a shell of himself. Dominguez should be everyday in LF, Rice can play 1B, and rotate Goldy/Stanton at DH/1B when Rice gets his day off for Goldy.

Play the players you win with, don't worry about ABs for money.
Goldy was a 1 year deal.

Would love him but I see no indication he's available. Move Jazz to 2nd and then get a SS. At this point no Yankee is untouchable as far as I'm concerned. Everyone is on the market.

So Volpe's Dad got into a cursing match with a Mets fan at the game the other day. I hope the poor man stays off the Internet as he may have a stroke going off on every Yankee fan that thinks his son's performance is garbage. :D

Boone supposedly mentioned today that Chisholm will be moved back to 2B.

At 2B, he posted a +3 Defensive Runs Saved, but at 3B he posted -3 Defensive Runs Saved.

Aribasebal 07-08-2025 10:19 AM

Also would like to see Spencer Jones called up by year end. He is raking it now in AAA. I would like to see within a year or two an outfield with Dominguez in center,Jones in left and Judge on right. Buying these 1 or 2 older veterans every year just hampers the growth of these young players.

It's done and he has no plans to play DJ at third. So there has to be a deal in the works. On the bright side Peraza is hitting .150.

fulltritty 07-08-2025 07:31 PM

These guys can't turn double plays at all.

fulltritty 07-09-2025 07:54 AM

2 wins a row. :flex: Too bad they gave up a homerun to Raleigh and the Blue Jays continue to win.

Judge and Raleigh trade homers late in Yankees' 10-3 rout of Mariners

Who cares. You should be DFA'd or retire.

Demotion not sitting well with DJ LeMahieu as he stares down Yankees uncertainty

So is this the reason he stunk 3 games in a row?

Which is why they need to DFA him. I also believe in the next CBA, the owners need to fight harder to be able to cancel contracts of crap veterans who no longer can produce day to day but refuse to retire.

You'll never have baseball again if they push for that lol. H.A.L can easily eat the money but he won't.

What they should realistically push for is for the salary of retired players and players that were DFA'd and then re-sign with another team to not count towards the luxury tax.

Players still get paid and are released more often allowing them to find opportunities elsewhere without rotting on the bench for a considerable amount of time. Teams are able to move on from players that are no longer contributing and free up money that they would be paying towards the luxury tax.

The only losers in this situation would be the small market teams that benefit from the contributions towards the luxury tax. Boohoo cry me a river.

JRX 07-09-2025 10:25 AM

Most of these deals should have deferrals to spread out the cost. Its no different than what the nfl is doing now with void years on contracts. Dodgers are taking adv of it, no idea why someone playing in nyc wouldn't want to defer salary to when they're no longer in nyc.

The whole deferral trend is due to the explosion in salary numbers and inflation rates.

Paying Ohtani $68m annually 2034-2043 will save the Dodgers tons of money down the road.

I still don't agree on how the luxury tax hit works out to only $46m / year but that's also something that will probably be discussed at the next CBA.

All this just seems to combat bad contracts and I don't think owners should get loopholes to help.

DJ was signed through age 37, you deal with him thru age 37. Or eat the $$ and release him.

If we start deferring everyone's salary where does it end and what does it help? It may help today but if I am deferring 10 salaries 10 years from now for guys who retired, what is that helping? You're kicking the can down the road with the hope you win it all because you'll pay for it later. No different than peddling your top young talent to win now, IMO

That's what the Eagles are doing, they have pretty much all their contracts ending in 2029 where they'll extend everyone again right before the new tv deals.

I don't disagree, necessarily, but I don't see deferrals as a loophole for teams. Instead, I see it as an additional choice for the player on how they would like to receive their money.

Using Ohtani's example since it's the biggest, he wanted to stay in LA (but knew the Angels couldn't afford him) and he wanted to have the best chance to get a ring. So deferring a vast majority of his salary would allow the Dodgers to continue making moves to build the best roster possible. That was HIS idea...not the Dodgers'.

Ideally, deferrals should open up the market a little bit and bring more teams into the bidding on more players. Like I said, the new CBA needs to rework how the luxury tax is calculated if there are deferrals.

Essentially: Annual Luxury Tax Hit = Total - Signing Bonus / Years

Teams can pay the player however they want as long as both parties agree in the contract.
