Got a box of the Topps Champions League (though I haven't watched much women's soccer outside of the USWNT games and Olympics).

Just found out today there will be a 2021 Parkside NWSL series 2. No checklist yet, but 130 card base set with parallels, inserts, and 20 more autograph cards. Supposed to be out in October. Hopefully they will have another big name autograph, maybe Alex Morgan.

Dang. As much as I like the 2021 NWSL set, I'm not sure I like this news. The existing set is already huge for a league with only 10 teams. And they made a lot of it. Need to space out these releases a little bit more, in my opinion.

Then there were others who are in the league, but didn't have a card. I wonder if the 15 year old will have her first cards? If she does, this stuff will blow up and be huge sellers. Might want to actually save up and buy all you can afford, if she is in the set.

Parkside did print more than I was expecting, for sure.

If they put any Trinity rookie on-card autos in series 2, that would be huge.

Went to a fan event today - got some cards signed by our team's goalkeeper, Abby Smith.

She was cool as hell and was amazed by the Cityscapes insert (apparently it was her first time seeing the card lol). Also got a free signed 4x6 at the event too!

That's really cool. I can't wait until I get to attend a Spirit game next month. I think I'm more excited about seeing an actual soccer match for the first time ever, than trying to get autographs.

Absolutely.

The men's US team is playing Canada here in KC tomorrow for one of their Concacaf Gold Cup matches. I'm not even bringing any cards to this one - just excited to watch it live.

On facebook, one of the Parkside reps said they'd have cards for all the new players who came into the league since the first set was released, so it seems pretty clear that they'll have a Moultrie card. There are also some Americans who came back from overseas, so I suspect there will be some good ones to collect in this update.

Also, I'm not sure what to make of the increased print run. It's bringing a lot of new collectors into the hobby. There are tons of women and girls collecting and trading on facebook now, and there's a growing movement among some collectors to take cards to stadiums and hide them around the stadium so that others can find them.

I also saw one collector posted recently that she'd purchased over 250 boxes, which is something like 6000 cards.

I'm not sure we can measure the potential value of these cards through the print run. Rather than flooding the market, they're expanding the market dramatically...it'll be interesting to revisit this in 5 years time...

Is anyone collecting the Topps On Demand UEFA Women's knockout set?

I noticed that a Lauren Hemp auto popped up for sale online recently, and she's not officially in the checklist. Has anyone seen any news about this or, more importantly, other autos that aren't listed on the checklist?

I will be once I get my 3 boxes in. I'm one of the only Popp collectors you're ever going to find. haha

I read speculation that Hemp may be a substitute for Lavelle on the auto side.

I think Topps missed an opportunity to include the two French clubs for whatever reason. PSG and especially Lyon have some of the world's top footballers on the women's side. It looks like they went cheap by putting so much into Rosengard over Barca or OL.

Well I opened a bunch more boxes after I got home tonight, bringing my final total to 232 boxes opened. I do have 20 sealed boxes put up, 10 from Target and 10 from Wal-Mart.

Hit two more autographs that I needed, (pulled 10 in total and all were different.)

I then pulled my second image variation, but unfortunately it was Schmidt again. So if anyone has an image variation they want to trade for my dupe, please bring it to me.

In my two UEFA womens boxes, I got a Pernille Harder /20 auto, and a Popp /29 auto. The parallel base was Sam Kerr /50 and Jennifer Hermoso /50. Pretty happy with that.

Do they do that 4x6 for each player or was it just for Abby Smith? I had a similar convo with Trinity Rodman when she signed my card, she mentioned that she had not seen them yet and how cool it was. Same for Tatum Milazzo.

I presume you already know this, then, but if you haven't looked on ebay, there are already a bunch of parallels and autos of Popp for sale there.

I collect rookies, so I'm chasing Oberdorf and Bennison, and now Hemp since there seems to be a couple autos floating around. Frankly, though, I'm not so sure I want to spend $200 on one of these autos. I'm fascinated by the women's game and I want to see it grow, but I'm not convinced I'd ever make my money back on a card of that price.

Now that I look at the tournament bracket on wikipedia, it does seem strange that Topps didn't include the French teams. And looking at the checklist of the Topps set, I'm also confused about why there's only one Barca auto. I would have chased autos of any of the four missing players.

Those are nice cards and it makes it even better that your daughter enjoyed opening them. I slept on these for the first 2-3 weeks, then I looked up how much singles were selling for then I started buying all I could find. I'm pretty much building a master set, minus the purple autographs and 1/1's. I have sold a ton of singles and I'm really looking forward to series 2 coming out.

I have seen them, but the pricing doesn't match up for me. Popp is not a big name and no casual fan knows about her. I think some folks bought this stuff thinking it would be an easy flip, but at the cost per box, I don't think it's that easy a flip unless you get Lavelle, Kerr (NWSL ties) or the oddball collector like myself that actually collects the Euro stars. I know I won't spend $200 on them. I've considered that sort of money for Kerr in the past as she signed for an Australian issued set a couple of years ago. But the autograph turned out terrible on the card itself consistently and no way I was buying a crap looking autograph for that sort of money.

As a buyer, Bennison is intriguing but being with Rosengard makes her a huge risk. Rosengard is a lot like BVB in that they basically are a stepping stone for players before they move on to bigger and better things. It will be interesting to see what sort of market exists over here for the Euro stars. I'm not convinced there is a big market for them here honestly.

That's what I've heard thus far. Don't know that it's more than a guess. Kerr is also on that list, but I haven't seen her auto pop yet either. If true, Topps is just being themselves really. haha

So I put back 20 boxes to keep closed for the future. Well I can't ever keep anything closed, because I fear of a big card hiding in them. Well my fear got the best of me and I opened them. I can now say I have officially pulled one of everything you could pull from the product. I did get another autograph along with my first 1/1. I am now done opening series one with a grand total of 252 boxes opened.
