Updated. One of my fav cards in the set. 16 Red Ambers vs 7 Red Spectrums, pretty dang lopsided. Could be due to chance, could be that Red Spectrums are disproportionally stacked in epack. |

Red Spectrum War Machine pulled per Facebook.

Updated thanks. Looks like pendulum is swinging back towards red spectrums, and the earlier lopsided numbers could have been by fluke chance. |
Photo for appreciation.

Well I do think it's nice...not sure about 35k nice :p Marvel hobby is in a weird situation because a couple years ago during the PMG market manipulation hype phase, people were throwing around tens of thousands for cards left and right. I dont think it's like that now, and it's probably very rare for a marvel card to sell for more than like 10k. There just arent the same number of deep pocket buyers throwing this kind of money around in marvel cards as in like basketball cards or vintage comics. |

Character like Thanos I'm guessing 10k with no data to back that up. Totally random guess. It's fun to see where the non Spider-man cards end up dollar wise. |

Reasonable guess. While it’s easily one of the top cards in the base set, Marvel has become so ‘Spider-Man and Wolverine….and then the rest’ at this point. I think red spectrums should totally out-sell red ambers in the long run, so it has that going for it. Commons red spectrums seem to be going for 2-3k which is pretty astounding. But then again, you get into 10k+ numbers and it comes down to does the hobby have buyers who will pay those amounts for a card, and I really don’t think there are many… |
Daredevil red spectrum went for 10k at auction on ebay. If legit that's a heck of a sale, and reminds me of pandemic era PMG numbers

Thanos supposedly went for 15k. I don’t think Daredevil going for 10k is completely out of the realm of possibility. I’d say he’s still one the upper tier characters in terms of popularity and all it’d take is some hardcore character collectors who are chasing the rainbow. |
I’m seeing Wolverine sold on eBay for 10K. He’s gotta be top 3, so if Thanos really went for 5K more, that’s crazy to me.

Wow. Well looks like a buy it now and was probably snagged up immediately. Even had best offer but looks like sold at full price. Listed as Emerald Red for some reason, not red spectrum. Not that it really matters. But yes Wolverine and Spiderman are the top 2 cards in this base set. 10k for Daredevil and 15k for Thanos is just kinda surprising to me. So a 1/1 from a newly manufactured set, and this is just one MM out of the 4 recent ones, which will eventually sort of become part of the sea as times goes on (as, say 2018MM is to us now)....15 grand? What would even the original paintings of those go for, less or more than that? Is a red spectrum more valuable than its painting? Red Spectrums are clear-and-away more sought after than red ambers, that much is clear. I've always been trying to add just one red spectrum to my collection, but even commons from any of the years are going for like 2k, it's pretty incredible. Whoever says the Marvel market has crashed...I direct them to sales like this. |

In my mind this is the easiest way to figure out if a sale is legit or not. No way a reproduction should sell for more than the original artwork. |
If anything I think that might reinforce the opposite - the OA is undervalued. A pack pulled 1/1 of the most popular char in an era of rainbow/char collection definitely demands high value. I think everyone can also agree that the OA is more valuable. In a scenario where someone with money is into the hobby, the only valid price is who's willing to pay 2nd highest given the same opportunity window?

As strange as it is....I wouldnt put it past the market for a red spectrum to outsell the original art (ridiculous in my eyes beyond belief, but Im not the market). Both are 1/1s. The thing is the hobby is mostly card collectors, and not nearly as many dabble into original paintings.
Look no further than Hildebrandts 1994 Masterpieces Wolverine original painting (iconic card in the snowy mountains) which sold for around $25k at the height of the pandemic craze. At the same time, PMG blue /50 and greens /10 of reprinted, rehashed art on a card were selling for 25k-100k+. Most original Masterpieces art- not iconic ones like that- tends to sell in the few thousands range. For awhile you could get a solid Hildebrandt or Bianchi painting for maybe 1.5k-5k? So unless the dos Santos is that much more, then Im not sure if I do see a Daredevil painting going for like 10k+. Which would be really strange if the red spectrum outsold it. |
