Don’t count on it
The Cleveland FO does not like Flacco in any comparison to the fans Flacco will be gone quickly if Pickett is even decent (or the rookies step up) This has been discussed locally since the draft. Flacco was a lifeline “just in case” the Browns didn’t get a QB they wanted
Flacco has to play mentor to the 2 kids they just drafted. Pickett is not that guy. Nor is he the answer going forward. I think Flacco stays on to play Jedi Master. And Pickett is the odd man out, Browns traded for Pickett on March 12th. A full month later, they gave Flacco $4MIL to join. With, I assume, the intention of drafting and having Flacco be there to help with development.
This is very accurate outside of the 9 wins. I’ll take the under. Haha
But that’s OK I want two picks in the Top 10 next year
I'll take "Things Cleveland Browns Fans Say In Perpetuity." |

This is a weird response unless you assume a trade every year |

But that’s OK I want two picks in the Top 10 next year
This is the one part of this year's Draft that seems to be overlooked. The Browns, by passing on Hunter, have set themselves up with two premium picks for next season. If they think they struck out hard, and Gabriel/Sanders are flops, they are in position to guarantee the first pick in the draft via trade (or being there with the two picks). Or they think they got it with one of the QBs, and they get to take two of the best non-QB players in a QB heavy draft. The development of the QBs this season could actually set the Browns up for years to come. They can go get the best Tackle/CB or whatever next year. |

Flacco isn’t a mentor. He has no interest in being one You’re totally off base
Meh. 2019 the Broncos brought him in, and drafted Drew lock in the 2nd round. 2020 the Jets brought him in, behind 1st rounder Sam Darnold. 2021 the Eagles brought him in, behind 2nd rounder Jalen Hurts 2020 back to the Jets, behind yet another rookie 1st rounder in Zach Wilson. 2023 the Browns signed him off the coach midseason, when Watson went down. That wasnt a mentor gig. 2024 the Colts brought him in, behind 1st rounder Anthony Richards. Sure looks like a lot of teams bring the old guy in to play mentor. As for the Browns this year " Flacco just plans on being himself and the "mentoring" will take care of itself" https://www.si.com/nfl/browns/news/cleveland-browns-joe-flacco-reveals-thoughts-about-mentoring-rookie-quarterback |

Almost an hour now in fact. You said "Flacco isn’t a mentor. He has no interest in being one" And called me totally off base, for even suggesting that was why he was brought on. I simply posted all of the teams, over the past 5+ years, that brought him in to mentor their 1st or 2nd year QBs. No one is signing Flacco to be a legit starter. He knows that. If all the Browns needed was a body as insurance, they could have grabbed Wentz or Desmond Ridder for 25% of what they gave Falcco. So why pay him $4MIL as an insurance policy? |

You gave the very definition of Winston using Flacco. |

I know. That’s literally why I said it Winston is the exact same player just a decade younger. Cleveland didn’t want him Berry doesn’t want Flacco. Flacco was a contingency plan. They didn’t need him after all getting 2 QB’s in the draft He will be gone when the first backup on another team gets hurt I don’t really know why people care so much outside of everyone loves the Browns So that’s nice |

You need Pickett and Flacco You can’t just have Pickett and Ridder Flacco was draft insurance. They ended up not needing insurance $4M doesn’t mean anything as a premium |
Jimmy Haslam would buy 5th round picks all day long for $4M if he was allowed
The Pickett trade was a way bigger “asset” than $4M in cash he has under the cushions in his couch They aren’t giving that pick up to not give Pickett and the rookies a way more believable shot than Flacco |
which one of you is suing the nfl cause of sanders?

Side note… just saw a mock draft where we get Arch Manning and Caleb Downs in 2026… and Protcor was still available if you wanted OT instead
Can we get a 26 hype thread already? |

By then: -Our 25 draft class with be in it's 3rd year (and both QBs probably off the roster) -Our 2x 1st round pick 26 class will be heading into it's 2nd year, likely including our QB bust of the future -Our 27 draft class will be rookies, still high enough picked to be expected to contribute. The future is bright! (if you look far enough ahead) |

I feel bad for Mason Graham in all honesty.
I feel bad for Mason Graham in all honesty.
Yep.
Typical bad team logic (by their ownership and their fans also): pick enough guys, maybe one will pan out. They act as if picks are lottery tickets - instead of athletes who need coaching and talent around them. Graham can get out after 4 or 5 years... unless he takes the money bag like Myles did. Hopefully he's smarter. We'll see. |
Flacco to NO
He’s not going to be in Cleveland long |
I feel bad for Mason Graham in all honesty.
Maybe there's hope. If you're a bad team, then logic dictates that you've got to swing for the fences until you land The Guy. Even the best teams and coaching staffs have seen their high picks turn into busts. It's just the nature of the game and, you hate to say it, but there is a lottery aspect to it. I realize the odds are against them, but maybe in 4 or 5 years we'll look back and see that Cleveland found a winner somewhere in that QB room. Best of luck to Graham. |
