Probably fake, I think a lot of people stay away from the 90's cards now (include myself) because of all the Fake issue. :doh:

Personally, for me, I want to get the cards I want asap, before the technology improves and the real and the fake becomes indistinguishable. I lament selling out my Kobe collection in the past and wants to buy them back now. I’m reminded of the collection cause I can look it up in my old photobucket.

I feel you. I have thought about jetting all of my Hill cards due to some of the corrupt behavior. At the same time, i have built a collection of cards that i know are real and I could never replace them. I just love the style of cards and will always collect them. I also think that ones that are KNOWN to be real, will always carry a premium.

A serial # 90s in an old PSA label is something that gets me real excited and will pay a premium for this!!

The Kobe rubies is legit. The scan makes it look a little fakey, but all the elements are correct.

There is reason to do this for baseball cards as well.

It's good, but hold out for a better copy. Look how off center the player cutout is. Especially noticeable around his head and the arm he's dribbling with and the ball.

Just a heads up, this Penny Star Rubies is fake. My favorite part is that they scanned it in an old beat up case to suggest that someone has owned it for a while. Clever!

That's the same BGS case - see the serial number at the bottom of the case.

The seller has swapped out the real one (Worthpoint version) and inserted the fake. That's why the case is cracked.

You can see the cards are different if you look at the background features. For example, compare the section at the bottom where it says "Orlando Magic G"

These don't seem like the kind of players one would want to fake, but I'm interested in seeing opinions on them anyways. One thing that seems really odd to me is that 10 of the 25 cards are serial numbered 70/100. 5 are numbered 73/100. 3 are 92/100. 2 are 77/100. 2 are 55/100. The 96 Platinum Medallions are tough because it seems like there's several generations of fakes floating around.

Some are easy to spot, but some aren't. Personally, I'm not able to confidently say when a 96-97 platinum medallion is real at this point. All I can do is call out the ones that are exceedingly fake...

Maybe someone who feels more confident about spotting the 96 platinum medallion fakes can chime in...
