This is the only comment from Goldin that I recall seeing, while the listing was active.
Never did see a public update, and it still doesn't make sense. The eBay seller claimed to have sent payment and the item was transferred to their vault account (card wasn't at psa and sale went through?). If you look back at the auction link in the thread, the sale was eventually canceled, maybe a month or or so after ending. Ended at $800 too.

Yeah, $800 with eBay approval and no authenticity review. :)!
Having "sealed" in the title, removes the item from eBay AG. |

Did they ever make the 2012 Anthology buyback autos or are those all guaranteed fake?

I've seen one possibly good anthology buyback, but most haven't been good. If you can provide some good images, someone should be able to help. |
Like the PSA/DNA dual authenticated examples, BAS/BGS failed to catch this counterfeit.
Currently listed with Probstein. |

If you can provide some good images, someone should be able to help.
Unfortunately I fell for it before discovering this thread. Lost $1500. Seller offered a partial refund but no protection from ebay because it was international. Lesson learned  The main reason I felt comfortable was because I saw PSA had some graded and it was in their database. I wish they would take all photos down even if they were older submissions that got through. |

If not, can you show us which one you bought? Could be helpful. |
By the way, I pulled this card myself out of Paramount. Unsure whether this is one of the Anthologies mentioned above, but wanted to share:

Some reporting works, but not a guarantee. The current BGS copy I've shared info with Beckett, eBay and PSA (as it should come though the authenticity guarantee program), but no action yet. Oddly enough, PSA has a copy (haven't seen the cert or images) in their own population. Another fake, serial 10/10 was sold by Probstein and passed by CGC (old eBay authentication partner) |
Will Hauser's 12/25.
TPG's been cooked for a minute. The whole auto authentication thing has been a scam since its inception. There's no possible way so called experts can give valid opinions on an auto with only 1 minute to analyze each. Yes, there are egregiously bad examples, but for the other 95 percent, it would be easy to get past a casual eye operating on mandated time efficiency. |

Right. Probably 9 out of 10 of these dudes (being generous here) have any sort of formal education, historical knowledge, or training on the subject. A trained AI model would probably be far more accurate than any sentient services PSA/BGS currently has to offer. |

I would agree with that. |
So far, five of the eight auctions were pulled but thought it would be good to document the cards, as they will likely appear again.
These copies are no good. |
Do these fake Kobe autograph cards have anything to do with the recent fake memorabilia & auto busts? They said they put out 80,000 Kobe autos.
|
Kobe autos were more than likely memorabilia. Thats where the money is. Dominique has been a scum bag since i have known him in '03. All of there items were auto pen so they were clean and looked legit with coas. They said 97% of the items out there are fake. I wouldnt want to be holding anything Kobe, Brady, Mahomes etc...
|
Eh, he said he dumped 80,000 Panini autos in the market but where are they? Have you seen that volume on EBAY the last few years? I certainly don't. In fact, the reason why the prices on his Panini memorabilia items remain high is because there’s simply not enough supply to meet demands.

80,000 autos even at a conservative valuation of $150-200 each as 'ip' base cards is well north of 10 million dollars. |

The volume I've seen are these "buyback" type cards. They've been showing up every month for the last few years. But I do believe Panini did a lot of memorabilia on their website for Kobe when he became their poster athlete. I've always trusted Upper Deck more though. Off Topic: I remember the game-used shoes either Panini or Upper Deck had for sale. If my memory is correct, I thought those were overpriced at something like $3000-$5000. Ouch |

There are similarities (fake autos, authentication stamps/stickers,..) but not sure there is a direct connection. Lots of scammers in the hobby. |
