I thought I remembered the opening presale price being fairly high. At least on Blowout, I don't think they were available for 600/650 a case ever. I may be wrong, but I haven't bought anything since presale Series 1 and I balked at Series 2 because of the opening price.

There’s some early pre sales on eBay. Had Robert rookies at $3.50 per from what I saw. I’d say that’s cheap

Presale on this was never that low.

For those saying these prices were never at these low prices they are wrong. Orders were put in in i believe Feb/March time frame to the distributors. Price for Hobby was 700 and Jumbo was 650. This is the same price that 2020 Update was when we placed our order last month. I did not say Blowout , Dave and Adams, SteelCity had these prices available to the general public. Just like WNBA Prizm is 1130 direct from the distributors but is 1350+ presell on most major dealers sites. So please do not put out info that is false.

You are correct. BO never had these presell prices. These were direct prices from distributors that placed orders in Feb/ March time frame.

OK, back on topic. I just scanned the CL. Unless they really pump the SPs in a way we haven't seen, this product is....not great at best. There's base Robert, then....who's the second best RC. Akiyama? Graterol? They missed Tsutsugo, unless I missed it, who would be a contender.

You have to get a business license then apply for an account with a master distributor. Good luck getting any product though as a new account. Everything is cut throat right now.

I'm actually dealing with this process right now with a distributor. It's confusing as to exactly which documents you need (depends on what your state offers if you are a certified business, some have business licenses, some don't, etc), plus there is getting an account established, THEN it's hoping to actually get product if you're lucky enough to get in.

It's an unfortunate time to be doing all of this, and may ruin my business, but.......if you're not in, you're out.

Once I got my foot in the door, I still ran into the problem of being the low man on the totem pole. My allocation were either "none" or possibly "one" box at most. Currently, I am getting more product because I believe my sales rep is really working hard to get me a decent amount of product. Now, it will probably take several more years before I can play with the big boys, but I am in it for the long haul. I've got a large commercial plan in the works and I want to open something that everyone will be excited for. Let me know if you have any questions...

I've been signed up with a distributor for about a year. I still buy 90% of my stuff from online retailers. To get anything more than a box or two (if you're lucky) of any kind of Topps product from a distributor, you need to be buying tons of Panini or garbage stuff like Leaf, Superbreak, Tristar, etc.

I've actually been thinking for a while that someone like Jabs Family is really set up to do well with getting distributor allocation. They seem to be able to get rid of 6-8 cases of total trash (e.g., Panini Prizm Baseball, Select Baseball, etc.) for EVERY. SINGLE. RELEASE. That's really hard to do, even for a breaker because breakers have to sell hot products or they won't sell out. Jabs has like 40,000 followers that will buy out whatever he breaks -- could be 1991 fleer case and he'd sell it out.

If you have a way to sell trash products and lots of it, you will be very well liked by distributors. If you don't, you're out of luck.

This is the biggest garbage post I've seen on these boards in sometime.

Nothing can take the silver packs rant though.

But no, for 99% of the collecting world, the cheapest presale price was $1,000 for a hobby or jumbo case of series 2 which was ridiculous.

Series 2 never really has any meat on it, last year was a fluke. 2018 had nothing aside from incredibly rare SP's of Acuna and Torres.

You could have bought 2018 Series 2 cases in 2019 for less than what 2020 Series 2 cases are right now.

We aren't looking for a quick flip on cases, we want to buy and open product at a marginal rate. To be honest, there's too many people holding wax and stock piling it, but to each their own.

I was hoping last year to open a case of Update, but never did because I didn't feel comfortable paying what they were going for.

I get the BS text's or calls from my sales rep in which he is pushing my to buy their sudden allotment of retail-priced basketball product. He gives me the hint-hint nudge-nudge speech that this will help my future allocations. I am fortunate that that primary business is in something completely separate from cards, so I can throw more money at the garbage items, so that I can get some decent stuff to sell in my store. I agree with you in that the key is to find a good marketing strategy so that you can sell the less-desired stuff. I don't respond much on here, but I read religiously what is shared on this forum. There are a lot of very smart collectors here that have great passion, ideas and knowledge.

Ok you may very well be right that the SSP isn’t a close up portrait this Series. Its’s tough to figure these out of the gate sometimes. And I could definitely see them having two SP’s. It’s happened before right?!

If you are going to immediately rip and sell the pieces quickly you might do ok. I don't see a whole lot of value though. If Luis Robert doesn't come out on fire, this stuff is going to plummet at a very high rate of speed.

Absolutely hilarious that some of the new "investors" have already been clearing out Targets of this to try to flip quick. No chance anyone buys this for more than MSRP.

Robert is nice, but this is a truly horrendous checklist. Hope some of these people get screwed over on this and it scares them away for future releases.

I could make the argument that 2019 S1 is better. Has an all-star in McNeil and a potential star in Tucker. Also a guy like Kopech who could be an ace and a few other decent players like Brandon Lowe.

Print run in that is probably bigger though but this needs Robert to be an MVP candidate in order to not be a complete dumpster fire.

2017 s2 was pretty barren. I’d take the 16 update over that any day.

It is real - and agreed! Even Dick Allen agrees and tweeted at Cutch with a pic of it complimenting him today.

Things are interesting with my first case. Getting multiples of cards in each box. Definitely not normal for flagship.

Whew, I thought maybe it was just me.

I'm going to do what I always do with each flagship release. Go buy a jumbo box from my LCS and support them. Open my box and put together a complete base set and enjoy myself tonight.

I figured I'd be spending as much or more if I tried to put together the set buying retail. At least with jumbo I get two hits and a chance of some stuff that isn't in retail and I've always been able to make a set with just one jumbo box.
