Now from Twitter Rosenthal says the Cubs are out on Shelby.
Bye bye Jason Motte. He's a Rockie.
This is so crazy. Second hand sources are claiming Rosenthal says the team is backing out. Yet I'm still seeing speculation that Soler remains a possibility for Miller.
Remember back in the day they were close to Jake Peavy and Brian Roberts only for that to fall through?
Rosenthal tweets the Cubs and Dodgers currently are not in the mix for Miller.
BoSox are in the mix, or people want them to be.
Shelby would be great for this staff, plus I'd love to get my Gypsy Queen signed at the Convention. |
So if the DBacks aren't in the hunt, maybe he goes to Boston. It's disappointing he likely won't be a Cub, but sometimes the best the trades are the ones not made.
I hope they have another pitcher in mind. We have the trade bait, we have more position players than we can fill at this point.
This whole Miller thing is like musical chairs. Get someone, please.

Peavy was around 2008-09 right? |

So was Roberts. I'm surprised the South Siders haven't gone after Miller. If Kenny Williams was still GM, he'd be involved. We all know he loved going after the players the Cubs wanted but couldn't get. |
Won't be so bad missing out on Shelby. Especially losing either Soler or Baez or maybe even Castro. I'd prefer to keep those guys around.
I'd be hesitant on trading Soler/Castro, but there's no room for Baez.
Also, just what if we are the "secret" team in the running for Fernandez?

Please no. Hell cost you the whole farm. I would be content with Miller. |
Castro rumors with the Yankees. They need a second baseman and we have the depth that we'll be okay. It's what we get in return that matters. Also, apparently in the mix for Zobrist. Sign him for 4 years and we can shop Baez and Castro and reunite Maddon and Zorilla.
Now seeing Zobrist is between the Mets it Cubs, both have comparable offers.
Man, I really hope we don't trade Castro. He is one of my favorites on the team. Especially to the god damn Yankees.

Especially for Adam Warren. I'd rather have CC than Warren lol. Or is it the old Gardy/Castro rumor? I heard Warren on the radio but host could have been talking about a different trade. |
Though not likely, Montero is owed a nice stack of cash the next two years. If they want to free up money, maybe send Castro to the Yankees for Gary Sanchez and then flip Montero elsewhere.
Welcome, Zorilla. Though I could do without 4/56 for a 34-year-old.
It could be worse. We could be Dodger fans.
Castro gone, Adam Warren and Brendan Ryan in. Zorilla will be staying with us for 2 years and I'm guessing our 2nd baseman. Are we going to still shop Baez? Do we plan on looking for more pitching? Shelby Miller is out of the loop and for what the D-Backs gave up in not sure I would have wanted to make that mistake. Still have a CF issue, Heyward or Fowler? I like the Zobrist deal, utility player and fits Maddon's style. Not concerned with age as he posts good stats and is overall a great player and is positive in the clubhouse.
I want Baez to the Rays for Kiermaier.
We don't need Kiermaier if we sign Fowler or Heyward (whom I've seen a lot of talk about). Smyly, Moore, Snell, Odorizzi?
