I agree not likely to get advice to sell the farm on Tatis in a Tatis thread. Like I said I will not be selling any...just trying to decide if I want to double down. Probably will just add when a nice deal arises! Tatis and Ohtani are my two main PC guys and I also dabble in Soto, Acuna, Guerrero Jr., and Franco.
I think it’s great that you have a diversified player collection.

I think going “all in” on a player like Tatis may not be the wisest decision based on his investment thesis, especially if you started at last year’s prices.

padremurph 03-15-2022 01:25 PM

At the end of the day, if you believe in Tatis. It’s a great buying opportunity. Still plenty of upside.

He could easily come back in June, play MVP type baseball, and lead the Padres to the playoffs. He’s got 81 career homers and he’ll be 23 this whole season.

Or he could come back and hurt something else and end up back on the DL

I’m going to hang tight and hope to pick up a few cards I still need at a good price (someone sell me some topps x 0.23 relics!)

Looking forward to the Tatis cast relic in 2022 Update

Acting like a bunch of high school kids.

It's proven that boys/men are stupid until they get to about 30.

So if you want your son to live a long, productive life, just keep him alive, out of prison, and off drugs for 30 years.

Man, that first comment.

Kids these days sure are dramatic.

Beautiful card.

When should he be back by?

Ugghh

ESPN:

“The Padres, however, had no real way of knowing he was dealing with this. Why? Because the MLB-imposed lockout, which began Dec. 2 and lasted 99 days, prevented teams from communicating with their players. A situation like this is precisely what every executive feared on reporting day. Tatis acknowledged that if not for the lockout, "It definitely could've been a different story."

Even more embarrassing for Tatis… not only getting injured doing things he committed to avoid, but also not getting appropriate medical attention / help to heal. Not the behavior of someone very committed to being a pro athlete.

Embarrassing for Tatis! He has millions and millions riding on him staying safe, and he goes and does that. He needs to take some responsibility.

Doubt he didn’t get medical attention. Probably opted for conservative management instead of surgery just like he’s done with his shoulder.

I’m not exactly sure what “conservative management” means, but what I observe is he didn’t treat his fracture in a way that encourages appropriate healing. Either it didn’t fully heal, or it didn’t set properly. Pretty frustrating that he doesn’t take better care of himself.

Conservative = no surgery.

His unwillingness to have the shoulder operated on and still going with conservative management on the wrist that isn’t healed three months later says he’s scared of the knife. This is not much different than Zion and his foot.

After a mere 14 months in Panini redemption purgatory, I got this one in the mail today. I don't normally go for the Panini cards, but I bought into a National Treasures break back in December 2020 for 85 bucks. I got this card and a Tatis International Treasures auto. Not a bad return, methinks.
