I just found out today that my account is now an in order only account, meaning I can't pre order anything. After taking 20 plus cases of each flagship release the past year plus I will b getting 0 S2.

One release isn’t a big deal to the distributors, but hopefully this one will make them a little more cautious on cutting people. No way does this release take off.

What do you mean by this?

That this release could likely be a Black Friday special as there is nothing to be excited about for this. Update at least has the #1 prospect cards that could be hot - Series 2 has nothing at all.

Maybe just maybe Topps, understanding this months ahead of time, figured out a away to make this a stronger veteran-centric release with stronger insert ratios, bonus vet autos(sticker dump), new shiny inserts, golden ticket giveaways...Something, anything that shows they understand that the limited RC availability and current screwy secondary market makes many people hesitant or unwilling to buy series 2. The addition of the new prospect inserts slated for Update may signal some surprise new stuff also for s2?
Trying hard to be optimistic here, not that I have a dog in the fight either way.

It seems to me that Topps tends to ride the momentum of the prior year's release. 2019 S2 was great, so Topps can release a meh 2020 S2 that will still sell. Distributors are going to take it no matter what, right? I mean, we're seeing people get cut back, which is crazy.

At these prices, I hope it absolutely bombs and we see prices tank on this stuff and hobby shops refuse to buy anything from distributors unless it's at cost or lower.

I just can't fathom this does well with nothing hyping the product. Banking on Luis Robert rookies when he has proven nothing?

Which breakers are buying enough cases of Flagship to move the needle on price? I just don’t see it. (For some other products, I totally get it.)

It was a general statement on distributors and cuts. Series 2 pre-orders were 800+ so I'm definitely not surprised by the insane price distros are trying to get fired this.

I know distributors are cutting people, but I'm confident some distributors are getting cut as well. Topps has a lot of people to keep happy. Maybe some distributors play the game better, but I'm sure the distributors aren't holding tons of flagship hoping for big pricing increases. I believe that with Bowman everything, but I got 1 box of S2 from a reliable distributor when asking for 2 cases and I got 5 boxes of Bowman Chrome when asking for 1 case. This doesn't seem like the distributors are holding flagship, but more likely are being cut by an increased demand from Topps direct accounts. Just my $.02.

Looks like hangers pre-orders are now sold out at Walmart. Somebody is buying this stuff.
