I'd even be content with CarGo if we can't land Heyward.
The only thing with CarGo is injuries and probably stats from Coors.
Just got a notification that we may now be interested in Carlos Gomez?
I DO NOT like this. Please don't.

SportsAutoFreak 12-11-2015 01:23 PM

No need to worry about Gomez or Gonzalez.

That's a big time lineup but I'm so nervous, so scared about this pitching staff.

glassnickels 12-13-2015 05:28 PM

Cubs convention passes got here yesterday. Can't wait!

texmcpherson 12-16-2015 04:39 PM

Hearing talks again with the Braves but now for Inciarte.

SportsAutoFreak 12-16-2015 04:44 PM

Who wants to do a meetup at the Sheraton next month?
Yes the trade wasn't the best, but you realize they've been open to trades for him for a while now and no ones suggested interest. His inconsistency is what hurts his value. I wish we could have gotten a better haul out of him but it is what it is. Theo and Hoyer know what they're doing and do a great job most of the time. We don't need Castro, or Baez for that matter. We need to unload Baez while he still has value, he's not getting playing time here.
I think it's too early to bail on Baez. Still young, still developing. I think their plan with him is solid, get him some playing time at other positions, improve his versatility until his bat matures. His ceiling has not been met yet.

I share similar sentiments with Soler. I'd be pretty pissed if we traded him off too early as well.

Right this goes for Baez and Soler, but I think it should be an idea to move one for a decent SP. Baez seems like the odd man out, Soler has an OF spot and unless Baez beats him out for his spot (doubtfly) he's probably looking for a new home. He has a lot of potential and could be a starting SS or 2B at another team. He has no room here and it'd be a waste to keep him as a backup or bench player. He has value and it'd be doing him and us a favor. But that's just my opinion. He won't be seeing playing time for a long time here so what's the point of holding on to him?

SportsAutoFreak 01-03-2016 02:30 PM

The Convention is almost here! Let's take a roll call. I'm going.

glassnickels 01-11-2016 11:24 AM

Anyone have experience with getting bobbleheads signed? If I luck into one of the big ticket guys I'm thinking about getting something other than the usual signed. What marker works best and what placement works best? I suppose I should do a Google image search and stop being lazy.

Edit: just saw an auto Jedi Rizzo on eBay. That's pretty sweet I think - maybe I'll do that

I've never tried, but good luck!

SportsAutoFreak 01-11-2016 11:50 AM

I have one bobblehead signed. Fergie did his Cooperstown Collection bobblehead 10 years ago. He signed the front of his uniform.

Rays/Cubs trade rumors are starting to heat up again. Rays say that the only pitcher off limits is Archer.

Yeah, the Archer that the Cubs gave them.

Way to go, Hendry.

texmcpherson 01-13-2016 01:31 PM

Chicago "not done" with offseason moves - Jim Bowden; "working very hard to try to get a starting pitcher."

death2redemptions 01-13-2016 01:50 PM

Schwarber!!!!

It's a symptom of a mental disorder, I can't help myself.

glassnickels 01-15-2016 02:24 PM

Ran over to convention on my lunch break to check in and see what the lines looked like. The garage sale line was already nuts! I didn't pull anyone on my voucher which stinks but the STH signers are good this year at least! I have a feeling it's going to be a mob scene all weekend. Have fun everyone!

glassnickels 01-22-2016 05:41 PM

How was the convention for everyone? I thought it was way oversold and didn't even attempt to get into the opening ceremony, Dempster late night, or really any of the panels outside of those at Loews. I was surprised how fast everything was gone. Mystery balls and grab bags were gone by Saturday morning. They still had them much later last year. I just basically did the STH stuff to beat the crowds and did a quick pass through the garage sale and vendors. Just a couple pick ups:

Junior Lake auto jersey from yard sale

Kyle Hendricks auto ball (I had him inscribe it go lions as a little college rivalry joke - he was a good sport)

Darwin Barney cracked gamer from yard sale

Alcantara 8x10

And my favorite - John Baker signed bottle opener. He's a big craft beer guy and I follow him on untappd so I asked him to put his handle on there. Even gave him one of my Daisy Cutters to enjoy as a thank you

Schwarber did a STH only signing at 10:30am, people started lining up at 7am. I can't even begin to imagine spending all my time in line like that. I went to see Joe Maddon speak instead.

texmcpherson 01-29-2016 03:29 PM

I didn't even notice that stuff GlassNickels, awesome! Haven't talked to any of my loyal Cubs fans in a while. Fowler hasn't signed anywhere and I'm seeing reports that ties him with Chicago... could be the South Side though. But the Cubs are still apparently interested in him. Spring Training is coming up soon. Thoughts?

I don't know what to think about us getting Fowler, I was really hoping we would sign him to an extension before we got Heyward. If we get Fowler, Soler probably gets traded, which I am fine with so long as we get a nice return. If Soler can stay healthy I think he has a good chance of breaking out, he was starting to hit some absolute lasers. Ideally I think this is what I want even though I was against Schwarber catching before.

1B Rizzo
2B Zobrist
SS Russell
3B Bryant
C Schwarber
RF Heyward
CF Fowler
LF Soler

Baez can give some guys days off. Our lineup no matter the order would be loaded from top to bottom.

Just saw that. I really hope he is as solid as he was last year, at least similar.
