I would like to add this Kevin De Bruyne card, released end of 2010, i think before his Rookie sticker. It's a 2010-11 Cartamundi Megakicks Limited Edition ('only' 5000 copies exist).

I've seen this before, they are the same season as the sticker. I just need to try and figure out what they are, some of their stuff is TCG like, some trading card like and some is a plain card game (like a deck of cards with no collectability). |

Some things i found when researching these: This specific card came in a tin (only 5000 produced) as a standalone set. The tin contains 32 cards with facsimile autographs. On the back there are some quiz questions about the player. If you like to see the tin, check my IG belgium_soccer _cards, i have 2 of them. Cartamundi also released a set for 2010-11 where cards were printed on a weekly basis. These cards are not designated to a specific player but rather have the highlights, scores and sometimes ranking. You can find them here: https://www.lastdodo.nl/nl/areas/2271765-cartamundi The cards remind me of Pokemon because they are super thin and have rounded corners. I was quite amazed to learn that Cartamundi and Wizards of the Coast have a huge history together, you can read it here: https://cartamundi.com/en/cases/magic/ Being Belgian myself i'm actually ashamed i didn't know all this  |
The new Goldin Winter auction went live and contains some of the elite cards from the list, including 2 of the 1968 Palirex Cruyff cards. Already at a healthy $31k w/ buyers premium for the PSA 7 Cruyff

Bump.....this needs to be stickied to Page 1.....

As someone who specializes in collecting 90's soccer, I thought I'd post some info about key rookie cards (not stickers). Many of these are very hard to find, in any condition....
Likewise, information about cards from this era is often hard to find, so please correct any errors you think I have made... 91-92 Shooting Stars Serie A - contains first cards of Batistuta, Zola, Signori, Mancini, Vialli, and Diego Simeone.....91-92 Score also has cards of all of these players, but Shooting Stars cards are MUCH more difficult to find. My guess is that the Score print run is at least 100x the Shooting Stars print run. 91-92 Shooting Stars Dutch - contains the first cards of Bergkamp, Van de Saar, and possibly Romario 91-92 Shooting Stars British - contains RC's of Schmeichel & Giggs which are much scarcer than their Pro Set equivalents 1992 UNFP has Zidane's RC, as well as first cards of Weah, Desailly, & Deschamps. 93 Score & Score Gold both contain very difficult to find RC's of Alessandro Del Piero 1996 Premier Gold contains Beckham's RC 1996 Estrellas de Europeas contains first cards of Ronaldo (with PSV) and Roberto Carlos...note that the Russian versions of these cards which are now all over EBay are NOT believed to be authentic, in that they apparently were produced fairly recently, not in 1996. This is a key set, because it's the first pan-European, Champion's League style set. 1996 Panini Calcio also has a Roberto Carlos RC. 1997 Panini Calcio has a very scarce Buffon RC in it's second series, which is very difficult to find. 1997-98 France Foot has a scarce Henry RC. 1997-98 DS Pianeta also has a Henry RC, but it is generally easier to find than the France Foot RC and is believed to have been released a bit later. Hope collectors find this information useful.... |
I've already included most of the major 2nd year cards like the Zidane, Beckham, Hnery and Bergkamp. What I have just realised I have left out if the Van der Sar (91/92), Overmars (91/92) and Davids (92/93) off the list completely, thank you for reminding me, I assumed I already had those guys included.
Off the top of my head Roberto Carlos has cards from Brazil, Giggs isn't in Shooting Stars and there are earlier Italian cards from 84/85 (Perfetti), 85/86 (Perfetti) and 89/90 (Vallardi) that cover a lot of the stars too. |

I would remove the "campeonato brasileiro" from Neymar. That set should never have been graded. The album is actually Brasileirao 2009, but has no editor.
The official Panini album from the 09 season actually specifically says Santos is NOT in the album. |
Also I would change Card Mania to an (s) as it is a sticker and has an album to paste them in.

Zidane Rookie Question
I was going over the list and stopped when I got to Zidane. I remember thinking there was a rookie before the 92' Panini Foot. Checking PSA Pop Report I saw one card listed before the iconic Panini Foot card. Don't know if magazine "cards" are taken in to consideration when talking about a player true rookie card.

I can't find Vava on the list. Am I missing his name somehow?

The other early Zidane is the Onze Mondial magazine pull / tear out, also from 91/92 season.
Vava is a tough one, I'll give it a closer look when I can. I suspect it will be one of the obscure mid-50's sets but he's not in the better known Vecchi Idolos do Futebol set from 1955. He appears in plenty of 58 World Cup sets. |

Can we please add Andriy Schevchenko? He won a ballon d'or and I believe he should be on the list.
Also this thread is such a great resource so much solid info in here. Thank you all! |

What’s a good non-sticker Heung-min Son RC / early card?

I'm not sure if these players have been brought up (if so I somehow skipped over the posts). They seem significant to me, but of course maybe I'm just interested in the era and lack perspective. :D
Anyway, I'm not certain that the cards listed are RCs. They are ones I have in my collection and I haven't found older ones yet. But hopefully some greater experts will weigh in. Paulino Alcantara (1920s various membrillo and chocolate) Josep Samitier (1922 Los Grandes Jugadores de Futball; 1920s Los Ases del Foot-ball) Ricardo Zamora (c 1920 Chocolat Angelical) And, thanks! This list is terrific! |

I've seen that one and I like the look of it. I'm curious though because it doesn't look like a traditional chrome stock card to me. Also the corners on the cards look ever so slightly rounded and I'm not sure if that is part of the design or just a common defect |
I noticed van Persie doesn't have his two 2003 JSV Feyenoord (Japanese release) cards listed.
I believe he also had a 2003-04 Magic Box Int. Eredivisie TCG card. |
