The checklist isn't alphabetical like 2018 but more selected in a particular order like last year. Series 1 is released next week so I hope to see some identifying numeric or patterns so this can be identified again. |
Can’t see the codes being different PRs with that list. (eg three Cubs in the first ten.)

what were the prizes for these last year if you hit?

Afterall, the Twins set the MLB HR record with 5 players recording 30+ HRs in 2019. So I'll lodge my "homer" complaints with Topps here: how do only have 1 Twins player and yet 3 Cubs players, two of which didn't even clear 30HRs? Further, how do you have 3 Cubs players and leave out Schwarber? How does Eugenio Suárez not make the cut? I don't understand Topps logic for this checklist. |
I’m still waiting on my 2019 September Albies

The curse of following a small-market team. Lots of Cubs collectors out there. As for Schwarber, I like him, but the other three are more popular with collectors (and fans). |
Really conflicted on whether I even bother again this year. Last year was so frustrating. Maybe I’ll just pick a few of the guys I PC and won’t go after anyone else.

The Official Rules have been posted. Nothing seems different from last year. The cards are only available in Series 1 & 2. The approximate parallel cards available from each set is exactly as last year. Series 1 being 478,000 and Series 2 being 285,000.

Watching the Million card live break and Topps is really bring the advertisements to it for this promo. Lots of talk about it, commercials and info cards in the packs.

Not sure if we’ve seen the cards already...

Interesting to note there’s no manufacturing# next to the code. Will be tough to tell now if these aren’t evenly printed. My way to early take-For the sake of discussion, I've decided to take the stance that these inserts aren't printed equally. COMPLETE SPECULATION as we wont be getting as much evidence as last year.
I know its only been 3 days since these have started breaking but just using the eye test on new items, lot compilations, multiple item BINs, sold listings, etc., there seems to be more of some players, less of others, out there on the market (only 3 days, I know...)***The market for some players is much higher than others so this could take account for what's being listed and who is perhaps being held.*** This is what i'm personally seeing/using as a buying guide. Lots of tweaking to come. We've got a small enough following here so no harm in sharing-Feel free to use it or not. I really wish they'd add other surprises to these, occasional autos or special edition cards.
|
I got a Bregman. Is it really worth it destroying the card by scratching the back for the code?
|
I took a deep dive into retail this weekend. They are much more common than the 1/box for hobby. Here are my results:
21 cards 1 Harper 3 Acuna 1 Betts 3 Rizzo 1 Lindor 2 Springer 1 Gallo 1 Machado 2 Tatis 1 Bell 1 Trout 1 Kepler 2 Muncy 1 Hoskins |
1 Blaster, 1 card here = Bellinger
|
I really wish they'd add other surprises to these, occasional autos or special edition cards.
I agree. I think they should do a mystery player HR card, then each month they announce who the player. Dates are now live. Also it notes this: *To redeem a Freddie Freeman code, ENTER: "FF"YOURCODE (i.e. FF12345) Looking for just Gleyber codes if anyone is moving any. |
I have a Gallo, Harper, Max Muncy, Rizzo, Vladdy Jr, Goldy and Soto HR cards FT for Gleyber's if any one is interested.
|
So I may or may not have already plugged in a few players for opening day, think those are now a lost cause or will Topps do something for them??
|
So I may or may not have already plugged in a few players for opening day, think those are now a lost cause or will Topps do something for them??
I imagine this hurt a lot of people. I myself had all 30 players entered for opening day. The rules say something specific that nothing will be done due to suspended/canceled season or games. I wouldn’t expect they do anything. |
I’ve played for the last two years, and one lesson is don’t enter codes until the last minute. Injuries etc can screw it up. (Flipside is Rizzo made a surprise early return from an injury last year and instantly cranked a home run.)

So did Jose Ramirez. But I too have learned not to play them until the night before a game. That also burned me last year when Topps decided to cut off the final day's deadline at midnight, despite their rules saying otherwise. That cost me three winners. |
I've been just RAK'ng this on Twitter, got tired of trying to sell them.

The Home Run Challenge Topps website page has been disabled for codes.
Makes sense I suppose. They also removed all 2020 codes that have already been entered from your selection page. Not sure to what extent, but I’ve only noticed that they aren’t there anymore. Trying not to think about the big stack of codes sitting next to my desk. Would be awful if they all became useless  |

I’m not sure anyone is SP this year. I thought based on the early ebay listings that, of the Cubs, Rizzo might be SP’d, but the numbers balanced out soon after that. |

So, has Topps said anything about running this challenge with the new, shortened schedule?
I have like 15 of these, lol |
The code page still ain’t open for input but I imagine it will be soon.
I hope they would keep July as a separate month and not roll it into August like they do for April/May. If they kept it as a stand alone month (with maybe only 6 games that month), that would give us July, August and September for possible winning months. Are they playing regular season games in October this year? |

Wonder if the Home Run challenge will run for the 2 month season.

60 games seems like a perfect opportunity for (6)- 10 game increments. Different winning card every 10 games :p |
If they do, be nice to use the 800 I have. Multiples and High PRs to be expected.
Are you able to pick a date or not yet?
Not yet. There’s some whispers on Twitter that the page will open on Wednesday but nothing is confirmed. Still hoping for an official revision due to the shortened season |
Really it’s BS to not open it yet. Because if they open it up with so little time they risk the site crashing for so many people trying to enter codes at once. People have had months to build up their supply. They can cancel if you read their rule, and still award prizes in some other fair manner. I would almost rather they just let us enter codes and just award cards at random.
|
The T&C’s on the site haven’t changed yet, but I rolled the dice and just bought a few more on eBay, ahead of any potential announcement on Wednesday.
(Have a couple stuck in comc too, but with their current shipping issues even if I ship them now they may not make it by the end of the season.) |
I have 34 codes so for a change I am actually hoping they don’t cancel it, but if they want to give out compensatory prizes if they cancel it I am all ears.
|
Not that it affects the contest, but the Series 2 Mookie Betts are in his Dodgers uniform.
|
Not that it affects the contest, but the Series 2 Mookie Betts are in his Dodgers uniform.
I am wondering if the Series 1 and Series 2 cards were intended to have different winning cards to reflect the cards themselves. If that is the case it could still be fun for those playing in the shortened season (if indeed it is played). I still have a lack of confidence, but I do have some cards I will play if it happens. I am just not purchasing and playing like I did in the past two years. |

I have Yordan Alvarez and Mookie Betts from Series 2 and Machado from Series 1. First time doing this. I have been collecting Alvarez rookie cards, so also curious if it's worth scratching the back or to keep this one intact if anyone has an opinion? Let the Rainbow Hunt commence! |
NOTE: IF YOU ENTERED CODES PREVIOUSLY (before the contest was halted and restarted), YOU MUST CONFIRM THE DATE CHOSEN, OR THE CODE WILL BE VOID and you will not win a card for that month. (EVEN IF the player hits one on the day you originally chose.)

Ha thanks! I will likely scratch all of them. At this point it's more of a hypothetical conversation as I meant in terms of value of the challenge card itself. Is it silly to then keep the card post-scratching as a collectors card, like as part of my Alvarez rookie card collection? Just curious on people's thoughts of the value of the card as a collector's item if it's scratched as opposed to not scratching. Kind of like taking a collector's toy out of the box to play with it sort of thing? |
There appears to be an issue with two of the cards...
"*To redeem a Series 1 Freddie Freeman code, ENTER: "FF"YOURCODE (i.e. FF12345) *To redeem a Series 2 Mookie Betts code, ENTER: "MB"YOURCODE (i.e. MB12345)"
Ah now I see so that’s why all my Freeman’s code as Betts |
Hey guys is there an actual market for these cards? I have 50 of them. Bunch of different players. I threw them up on eBay and haven’t gotten so much as a look in a week.
It’s an honest question. Not sure what to do with them. I don’t have the patience to type In codes. And I’m really unclear as to what you’d win if you picked a day correctly. Lefty |

Lefty
Topps prints special cards for each player that go out to people who pick the correct date. They're numbered, and the print run depends on how many people made the right choice. They're kind of cool, nothing spectacular, but if you're patient enough to enter the codes then it's not a bad payoff for guessing right. As for the redemption cards themselves, if you listed a lot of 50 on eBay, you'd probably have no trouble selling it. It's likely this year that there wasn't much demand yet because it wasn't clear whether the season would happen or whether Topps would make this available. Now that it seems they are, business should pick up. |
I see the original rules which state theres still 6 groups of winners ( March/April, May, June, July, August, September) Do you see anything updated?
Yeah, it’s new. They didn’t update the link on the Promotions page though. Go to the contest page, click on the link to the Official Rules there. That gets you the new updated rules. Three groups of winners - July, August, September. |
