I'm the only person who likes the design on these, but I'm not buying spots in any breaks if Ford isn't in it.

Another new bump to make this highest dealer cost Stellar released, close to $8k

Not the only, but definitely in the minority.

Last year was such a slick design but when you have repeat signers you have to switch it up year to year.

I'm likely the biggest Stellar breaker in the country, I know all about the value in these sets. I'm not worried about Ford being in there. My comment was to point out the hypocrisy on how every release there is a narrative pushed, traditionally by those who have never or won't ever pony up to actually do one of these

Man, I would love to bite on a Stellar case one of these years when I have the cash because I have nearly none of the new big name autos, but jeez, with this design I'm just not even considering this years.

I loved last years but didn't have the cash.

I like the design, last years was awesome, but this is far from bad.

AngusMacGyver 07-26-2021 06:23 PM

So are there two Adam Driver's per case (and whoever else has a "variation" version) or do you get one or the other? Hopefully the former...

Dewman 07-26-2021 08:42 PM

I would expect he variation versions replaces the regular version for any given signer.

You don't have to buy tons of something to understand how it works. Ford has been the key component to each of these sets. Losing him to anyone who isn't George Lucas is a big hit.

Yes, Clarke will sell well, and will probably surpass Ford in sales because hey, sex sells. Ask me if she should be in the same league as Ford? No way, not a chance. You're talking a Hollywood LEGEND vs someone with a long ways to go. If I'm getting into any of this it's for a chance at a Ford, but I guess I'd have no problem trading a Clarke for one.

And nobody here is panicking about it, I'm not sure who your comment was directed at?

Will be interesting to see how the whole checklist looks.

While the Ford vs anyone else argument is valid, don’t forget Pascal was neck and neck with him due to Mandalorian hype not an impressive career resume.

Obviously Clarke isn’t going to have a big push from any current content, but people should be smart and avoid the overpriced long shot MW odds for her and get into Stellar breaks if her auto is what they’re chasing.

Stellar will seemingly break at whatever crazy prices on release day, but also there’s a good core of collectors are smart enough to back off when prices rise and wait for sales to get cases for group breaks.

Losing Ford and/or Pascal would be a major hit to the value, no question. Supporting signer roster is also important. Depending how many $50 and under signers there are could hurt resale opportunities plus factor in Daisy and Driver going lower and lower and COVID bubble effect likely subsiding soon prices may come back to reality.

They are not skipping Ford in this. They've shown 3 whole base autos out of 36, this whole narrative on values of release assuming he is not in it is completely unwarranted until checklist released. And I never said anything on who is more valuable, no clue where that even came in to it.

Either case, another interesting change in the sell sheet I didn't notice until now. Sell sheet references "Star Wars talent" being the autograph subjects whereas every previous Stellar sell sheet uses "Star Wars actors and actresses". Wonder if that's a bit of a cover to finally include some more of the behind the scenes individuals we've been hoping for in a release

I really hope you're right, if the only major loss is Carano and they add Clarke and maybe one decent signer from the Mandalorian this will be pretty fun in group breaks.

And it's not just Driver, Christensen Stellar autographs used to sell for 150-200 a few years ago...I sold one earlier this summer for over 500. Maybe that's just hype from him being involved in the new Obi-Wan show, and I also think people will prefer the Vader name and image over Anakin like it is for 2021.

Jakecg11 07-27-2021 09:14 PM

On a positive note. Thought it would be fun to speculate new signers. If I remember the signers change by around 13-18 each year from previous year. Who do you guys think some of the new adds will be?

Some of my guesses:
Cut video game signers
Add 4 bad batch signers with a quad of them all
Add Horatio sanz
Add two big unexpected signers (Sackhoff, Rosario, Olyphant)
No Kenny Baker

Biggest Hopes that are maybe, kinda, possible (not Hamill or Lucas):
Filioni or Favreau

At a price point this high, I don't want to see any behind the scenes people. Unless you are talking John Williams-caliber ones.

So you want Dee Bradley Baker to sign 4 times on a quad Bad Batch card? I guess would be unique in some respect lol

Hmmm, choices, choices.....buy into a break at 200-225 to get a random name from SW for an overpriced product or use that same money to get a Hamill signed SW poster for $150. So many tough choices in this hobby...this ain't one of them though;

I think one of two things happened, either all 20 have been claimed or the price is at $1500, not $150 (please correct me if I’m wrong)

I saw a lot of donators who wanted the Hamill donate $165 but the rewards section says $1500 (shipping included)

The price got updated overnight. It was definitely $150+$15 prior and several of us donated. This will be interesting to see how it plays out. There are better comments/discussion about this in the Barnes&Noble thread starting at page 62:

I still have the pics in my phone of the Ford's, Ridley's, 1/1's, etc. Kinda wishing I'd bought even more spots, now, lol! If only we'd known! Heck, I don't even remember what I was searching for a couple months ago and saw what the Eckstein auto's go for now.

Gotta budget for the big price snake draft and grabbed one on the other. Thanks for posting this. Group Breaks are getting rare around here and I hardly look there anymore.

It'll be interesting to see the checklist though. Top 6 spots can get rough from 4-6. The Sketch and Repro are usually always Top 5. So that leaves 4 cards/signers that have to be big in the set. Emilia Clarke will be one. Who fills the other 3 spots? We shall see.

I do like the format for the super snake. Even at 6 you get 2 top 7 spots. With 1/1’s included, if they aren’t from the top 3 signers, it usually makes the top 8 pretty solid. Definitely needs another big name or 2 to go with Clarke.

Archangel1775 08-16-2021 11:22 PM

So Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver clearly signed and their autos are at the least $300 each. Seems more like those two should be a 6-7 pick. But I'm hoping there is a Harrison Ford or Natalie Portman or Ewan/Pascal. With Natalie doing the private signing for SWAU, my hope is Topps took advantage of that and bought the autographs needed for the Stellar set or had their own signing with her.

Archangel1775 08-16-2021 11:47 PM

As for the art sketches, I have to look at the work of the two latter but with them focusing on only 20 subjects each, is it even possible for their work to get better? Could this could be the best year yet?
The sketch cards will be framed 5-by-7 pieces done by artists Carlos Cabeliero, Dan Bergren, Jason Davies, Dan Tearle and Candice Dailey and the reproductions will be standard size in the base set.
Most likely Topps contacted the actor direct. I doubt Topps wants to pay a 3rd party like SWAU who has a markup versus directly from the signer.

I agree. When maybe 25% of spots are going to get buy in or greater value it’s a bigger gamble than I like to take. Stellar is so much more top heavy than traditional sets. I will probably do a super snake break if more are offered after we see a checklist. Too many unknowns at the moment.

Honestly that's huge, if they got Pascal and Ford back (Ford has to be in there right???) I'm a happy camper. Hers will have a chance to go way up in value depending on how people like the Ashoka spinoff - which should be really good.

Jaysabz 10-31-2021 01:46 PM

Here's the 2020 Checklist - with notes and hopes for the 2021 Checklist. No comment means indifference.

Adam Driver as Kylo Ren - CONFIRMED FOR 2021
Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks
Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo
Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke
Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano

Taika Waititi as IG-11
Temuera Morrison as Jango Fett
Werner Herzog as The Client - Would prefer out of 2021

New Additions:

Rosario Dawson as Asoka (per poster's comment about Instagram) - A+

Not Holding my Breath:

Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. He was bitter after The Last Jedi but hopefully Luke's return as a badass changes his mind.

Additions I'd like to see:

Dave Filoni as Trapper Wolf (Mando)
Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand (Mando)
Katee Sackoff as Bo-Katan Kryze (Mando)
Bill Burr as Mayfield (Mando)

Additions I'd be fine with:

Any of the Bad Batch voice actors. Haven't watched the show, but it would be nice to replace the same few voice actors from the Clone Wars and Rebels.

Love to hear your thoughts!!

6 of the 40 autos will be Baker as the different members of the bad batch [emoji23]

Ming-Ana Wen should be an accessible get as should Bill Burr. With Topps losing like half their portfolio in recent years they should maybe start putting effort into keeping people interested in Star Wars before Upper Deck acquires it

Omid Abtahi as Dr. Pershing - Would prefer out of 2021
Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian
Sam Witwer, voice of Maul - Would prefer out of 2021
Taika Waititi as IG-11

I keep hoping for a John Williams.

You can keep hoping til he’s dead. 0% chance he signs again. Even thru the mail is hit or miss.

Funny story (not really, just to me)--I collect autos of actors/actresses from the tv show "Lost". I got tired of chasing these two because it feels like they use the same one or two shots of the actors that I couldn't keep track easily what I had versus what was out there. I simply stopped picking them. Ken Leung is not far behind.

I think you can move Gina Carano from Likely Out to OUT. Topps even scrubbed her Topps Now card out of existence on their Web site.

The wokeness is strong with Topps.

If the rights holder says do it, you do it.

100% a call on Disney’s end.

Kinda sad they couldn't get Keri Russell to sign. That would be a new layer to the Star Wars over pumped autograph list that could draw some interest.

Keri Russell
Bill Burr
Timothy Olyphant
Liam Nieson
Ming-Na Wen
Sasha Banks
John Leguizamo
Jason Sudekis

There is a lot out of actors out there that would make a bunch of people happy.

Less than 2 weeks away, any thoughts? Should we expect some bigger stars from Mandalorian even if it’s not Pascal?
Thanks,
Vinny :)!

I think Burr would be reasonable and a perfect mix of in demand and low cost for Topps but I have little faith in them to get a lot of new big people. Seems like they trickle out 1-3 a year at most but cons and SWAU can get more actors somehow.

This was pushed back til December 15th.

Have heard Clarke is not the big add to the set, but obviously won't know anything for certain til checklist actually hits.

What new name could they add that would be bigger? Did they finally get Portman? Neeson? Lucas?

Woody Harrelson? He was in Solo.

Mark Hamill's back?

Clemente 11-23-2021 12:38 PM

The question is which addition would be considered bigger than Harrison Ford? He has signed a bit recently but his name is still the Marquee.. who would beat him? Would Portman or Neeson considered bigger? Hamill return? I think Lucas would be a bigger name.. opinions?

I think Ford is the biggest name if he's in it, but the biggest "new" name being someone other than Clarke wouldn't include him. Not sure why they'd keep it a secret if they did add someone else but I guess we'll see in 2-3 weeks...

No one beats Ford because his entire career as well.

Portman would sell well but has a floor now based on her SWAU prices.

Honestly if you’re a general auto collector and not card focused you’ll save a ton but if you HAVE TO have on card then you’ll pay thru the nose.

If Hayden is signing as Anakin then maybe James Earl Jones as Darth Vader?

Archangel1775 11-23-2021 08:25 PM

Ford is numero uno. Only George Lucas could rival him
Mark Hamill, James Earl Jones and Liam Neeson would be up there in excitement though.
I could see Jon Favreau or Dave Filoni as nice additions
I am curious what a Kathleen Kennedy would do. :)
