Skubal has an auto in everything but not this, did I miss it? A bit surprised.

A product coming out in October/November still has Jake Odorizzi in a Twins uniform :confused:

I don't hate the AU Checklist, but i will likely hate the price of admission

Yes, plenty of precedent.

But now that there’s a chrome update sapphire, I didn’t really expect any of the update rookies to have a base in this.

This is going to be such a rough break.

No way I will pay $300 for TCS this year. This would be a product where it would be nice to have a few skus. One that is just base for a less expensive version and then one with an auto included. They could even have one with only autos and is more expensive.

I guess it makes sense to push Kelenic's rookie base to TCUS then. It'll help balance out the two products - desirable on-card auto in TCS with desirable rookie base/parallels in TCUS.

I hate that Vaughn got pulled into this instead of staying put in Update Sapphire.

I almost thought this product wasn't even going to come out this year. It's strange that it's only just now so late in the year that there is at least something (be it a checklist, product preview, or release date) mentioned about it.

Better yet how about a pitcher auto version and a non pitcher version...Let me tell you how many garbage autos from 2019 I have. If a box with 2 autos, 1 purple, can't get you excited because of who you got then it's time to say NOPE. Bought some spendy boxes back in 2019 and 1 box got 2 autos. 1 base and a purple...both Jacob Nix.

for the 1st time in my life...I wont be purchasing a single Sapphire RC card at release. This will be brutal, but then again...most of the '21 releases have been that way. Nothing changes w/ this one.

This can’t be more than $200, even though last year it was $300

Even $200 is a huge stretch on these.

Do the right thing for once, Topps.

Bummed that Ian Anderson didn't get an auto. Really wanted to pick up a sapphire auto of his.

Too much Luke Voit and parallels to pick up right now. It's bad enough I'm still trying to find the billion parallels between Spectra and Mosaic. :rolleyes:

That's the max I'd buy it at.

I guess, how do you define "fair?" Topps will probably sell out at $300 I'd imagine.

These will definitely sell out at $300, there's too much dumb money in the market and most have been rewarded over the last 18 months so there's still enough of them around to think these will give them a positive return at whatever price Topps sets. Personally, I'm a buyer at $100, on the fence at $150, easy pass at anything $200+.

I will probably buy up to $200 depending on what Topps does with shipping cost which has varied wildly with the last few MC releases.

Just got the email, releasing tomorrow. Limit 3. Really hoping Topps throws us a bone and does $150 a box.

3 qty for MC means two things:

1) printed to oblivion
2) cases for public release

Has the been a product that was lower than last year's offering yet? I think baller was $10 lower but everything else has either stayed the same or gone up right?

I may go up to $150 a box but anything over and ill be skipping.

Maybe, just maybe it doesn’t sell out instantly for $300. Have people been burned enough in the last 4-6 months to think twice? Honest question- i don’t follow the wax market at all.

Topps doesn't care if it sells out instantly, if they price it at 300 and it takes a day to sell, they still win.

Kind of surprised they dont just price these at 500 and let them take a month to sell for max profits.

I thought it was interesting that Topps moved the box limit on the Baller boxes so quickly during the pre-sale. It was like they wanted the stuff to sell out as fast as possible to get rid of it. But I did hear that we can expect 2022 Baller Chrome. Wanders for everyone.

Nah, they've all been crap margins but no true losers yet so they'll still sell out at $300 once they open to the public.

So a 660 card set full of mediocre rookies and 32 cards in a box that will retail for $300. On what planet is this a good idea? are you guaranteed a banger auto or a crappy journeyman middle reliever?

On the bright side, it makes taking a stab at a Topps Update hobby box more palletable LOL

A company with liquid inventory is really stupid if the they let it sit. Of course, it's their job to move it as fast as possible. Cash flow is better and they can move on to the next product.

Sapphire is by far my favorite release year after year! But this is a joke of a release.

Is this stuff worth it ? That's a lot of dough for a blaster. Less money can get a jumbo box of update. something I actually want

Can also get about 7-8 Bowman Chrome megas, a much better deal with a better checklist.

And just 3 years ago Topps was selling Sapphire for $200 per box with 100 base cards, 3 parallels and 3 autos. I would not pay over $100 for this stuff and is probably only worth $50 like it was just two years ago. Topps fooled me once last year at $300 but not this year.

All that matters to Topps is whether is sells out by December 31.

Better for them if its slow, they know they priced it at max profitability for them.

If it went immediately, they would raise the price more next offering.

Yeah, the configuration for 2016 was much different with a complete set and no autos and high price tag. Never really sold out. I bought a set on discount during the holiday sales. I believe the rest were sold to distributors. And there were only 250 of the sets. Crazy.

Because in order to offload them, they still need to have someone to buy them. BO, DA, SC aren't interested in buying 2000 Ginter boxes that will just sit in their inventory forever. The carrying cost of holding discounted Sapphire boxes that will absolutely eventually sell at a profit is worth it.
