When will Chris Taylor Get a call?
Kid went 4-4 last night, batting 325 and scores tons of runs! When will Seattle give this kid a shot? He's much better than Seattle ss there using now!

Lloyd has a hard-on for Brad Miller, and is giving him every opportunity this year. Chris Taylor will probably be a next season addition, or late season this year when they increase roster size. But let's also consider this is AAA. Let's look at some of his teammates, you may remember some names... Jesus Montero - .310 Avg, .903 OPS, 13HR 64 RBI Nick Franklin - .300 Avg, .875 OPS, 9HR 42 RBI The M's AAA team is always good. Doesn't necessarily mean it is going to translate. |

Both were up here earlier and hardly got any playing time. If he have Montero the same chance he has Miller than we'd all be doing the Montero Mash. And FYI, the Montero Mash is just dancing like an idiot when he hits a HR. |
Chris Taylor is a freakin stud!
|
The Mariners are not going to do anything with Chris Taylor at the major-league level until after July 31. They are leaving him in AAA and letting him keep his value as high as possible, because, if they do call him up and he pulls a Franklin going 1-16, His value will be incredibly low and other teams will get to say, is only good in the minors.
That being said, he is the real deal. The Mariners have probably the best middle infield farm system in the major leagues with him, Franklin, Ketel Marte, Greifer Andrade and Gianfranco Wawoe |

I agree whole heartedly. Montero is, right now, our best option at DH on a daily basis. Right hand power hitter that strikes out a lot, better than what we have. Hell, put him at 1B even. Franklin really hurts for me. Love the kid, had flashes last year. I wish he could find a home in OF or 1B. |
I just don't get it though, he has been a steady 300 hitter at every level! Miller sucks bad! Give the kid a shot and see what he has. Can't be worse than a 200 avrg hitter in miller.
|
I'm excited for Taylor, but I was also excited for Miller and Franklin. The one thing we know is that Taylor is better defensively than both of them. As for Montero, I would rather see him as an everyday DH at this point than Cory Hart, who has been just miserable
|
think they have to try Miller and Franklin before they can try option 3
|
think they have to try Miller and Franklin before they can try option 3
I agree, but what kind of sample size are they waiting for on Miller? He's played almost everyday since the start of the season. With the exception of a decent June, he's been an under .200 hitter every month including this one which is only partly over. If they're gonan try Miller and Franklin out for awile, it would also make sense to have Franklin get some consistent time as well. In he amount of time he's been up with the M's, he's been sadly worse than Miller |
Shout out!
Get him up here. |
I bet he gets a ton of calls every day, maybe his mom, dad, girlfriend?
|
Chris Taylor is also a very good looking guy, at least from what the ladies say.

His love for miller is deeper then deep goes......;).
No but seriously brad miller is a frustrating to the max |
Two more hits last night
|
Got lucky and hit his orange refractor auto... hopefully he gets the call soon :D
|
He's not going to get called up this year unless this team falls out of contention. As previously stated they aren't going to bring him up and kill his trade value if he fails at the MLB level. As long as this team has a Wild Card spot you will not see Taylor in the majors (barring some injuries)

I don't agree with this at all. If there in playoff contention, he would be the best option at ss to give them a BETTER chance! |

We'll just have to agree to disagree. He ain't getting the call as long as they're in contention. |

He was about to get the call anyday, before his injury. So I def think at some point we see him, just when. |

I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that he is going to get the call sometime in August if he is still on this team and we are contending. He's a solid right-handed bat and is very good defensively. Of course Miller could outplay his call-up, but I don't really foresee that happening. |
I'm gonna at least take my shoe off before I stick my foot in my mouth.

Taylor and...
Hmmmm. Is it possible that Hart was DFA'd today as the result of the Morales trade, but since Morales won't be here until tomorrow ... the Mariners called up Taylor for a single day? (Rather than Montero, who has the plague) |

Really tough to tell, but I don't think they've brought someone up for Taijuan Walker's spot yet either |

Really tough to tell, but I don't think they've brought someone up for Taijuan Walker's spot yet either
You're right. I forgot the Mariners are only carrying 4 SP's for the next two weeks. That leaves four bench position players ... Sucre / Romero / Bloomquist / Taylor. There still is a chance that Hart stays on the roster and Romero gets sent down tomorrow. A terrible, terrible chance. |
They aren't going to place someone on the 40 and call them up for only a day.
|
They aren't going to place someone on the 40 and call them up for only a day.
He's going on the 40 man regardless because a spot opened ... that doesn't mean he sticks with Seattle longer than today. Just like any other player on the 40 man roster, he may just be used for a day until the spot on the 25 man is filled by Morales. Hart / Romero / Miller / Taylor. One of those four is not on this team tomorrow. |
Gotta be Hart.
|
Gotta be Hart.
Yea, I'm a dope. W/ the Chris Taylor call-up; it's all but certain Corey Hart will be DFA'ed. Mariners need to make room for him on the 40 man, and only Morrison or Hart can make that happen. Morales and Taylor on ... Pryor and X off. |

Happens all of the time guy. It's not as if they would demote Taylor and then never use him ... he's likely coming up very soon again regardless because Brad Miller's time is about done. He was the next in line to be added to the 40-man, so whether he's up a day, a week or the rest of the year ... why does it matter? They have an extra spot on the roster for tonight's game against Baltimore and they need it filled. Taylor is as good an option to call up as Montero, Franklin or anyone else. |

I can't even think of it ever happening outside of an insane situation involving not having enough healthy bodies on the 40. Taylor is not as good of an option as Franklin for a 1 day callup considering he wasn't on the 40. Teams don't put guys on the 40 early unless it is a necessity. If he was placed on the 40, he is staying for longer than a day. Such a silly discussion. |

Taylor and Morales are going on the 40 man roster following the trade of Pryor and the release of Hart or Morrison. What difference does it make which player is called up? With Miller struggling and Bloomquist banged up from yesterday, Taylor was likely to be added to the 40 man today anyway, and this trade simply makes room for him without having to outright release anyone. You make it sound like I'm suggesting Seattle rushed Taylor onto the roster just to use him for one day and that's simply not true. |
wait til he hits a bomb tonight ....

Putting a guy on the 40 and keeping him on the active roster for a day is absurd in almost any situation. If they were only going to call someone up for a day, it would have been Franklin. Putting Taylor on the 40 so early would eliminate Seattle's flexibility going forward only to have a guy on the active roster for a day. Players get injured in baseball quite a bit. So many variables can impact the situation of a team. Teams like the flexibility 1-2 open or less valued 40 man spots provide. They don't give it up in order to call someone up for a day. Not to mention the slight financial costs along with service time issues. All would be forgone just so that they could call someone up for a day? Insane. __________________________________________________________ I've seen you comment on the reason behind the trade and while you are in the right direction, you are also misinformed. Seattle had an open spot on the 40 man roster going into today. Taylor could have been put on the 40 and called up before this trade Problem is that Paxton will be back soon to take a spot on the 40. This trade allows them to upgrade their DH, while also opening a spot for flexibility. At the end of the day, they will likely have swapped Pryor and Hart for Kendry. |

I'm just glad the kidd gets a shot! It's well deserved and overdue! As is why I made this thread. |
I'm glad he is too. Anyone that can help I'm all for. I made the assumption he might be a trade piece and they wouldn't risk him losing his value if he bombs.

Understandable but he gives them the best glove and bat at ss position right now. Trade Franklin before he don't have anymore value, not a guy who has stud potential! |
Potential gets GM's fired ;)
|
Up first in the bottom of the 3rd!
|
1-2 with first big league hit! Congrats kidd!
|
Give a star a chance, they will shine!! Congrats in ur first big league RBI my dude!
|

|
