Headley to the Yanks?
Ken Rosenthal reported: #Yankees close to signing free-agent 3B Chase Headley to four-year deal.
I guess they will not be bidding on Kang. Prado will play second and Headley will play third. |
Yeah, 4 years little over 50 mil. Must be nice to hit .230.

still better than what Arod would have given them this year....on a much cheaper contract, and the fact that he will still be younger at the end of this contract than what Arod is now........ Plus the yanks were also going for Headley for his defense. |
Does signing Headley suddenly make A-Rod and his contract disappear?
nope but it makes ARod more of a DH/backup 1B than our everyday 3B, butchering grounders with his bad hip nothing will make ARod or his contract disappear, nothing |

tobe fair he hit .262, 7 HR, 18 RBI in 58 games for the Yankees, it's still not great, but better than .230 |
Where exactly are A-Rod and his contract going???:confused::confused:
the BENCH!!!!! See post below yours for the reason why!!! |

nothing will make ARod or his contract disappear, nothing
The Yankees are okay with that much money sitting / DHing? Yikes. |
With Luxury Tax, that contract is going to cost the Yankees $75 million.
Incredible what these guys pay for mediocrity.
Plus they're stuck paying A-Rod either way so they're essentially paying all that money for only whatever marginal improvement Headley gives them over A-Rod. |
The Yankees are okay with that much money sitting / DHing?
Yikes.
sadly, yes. are you shocked really by this, the yankees don't care about money, luxury tax, any of it..... as a yankee fan it sickens me, but i'm used to it |
With Luxury Tax, that contract is going to cost the Yankees $75 million.
Incredible what these guys pay for mediocrity.
as of right now thats true, BUT they are hoping that something else comes out regarding arod and Bio/roids, that they can void that contract, OR even better that he acts up while sitting on the bench and they can void it for conduct detrimental to the team........... They are trying to get Arod to implode on himself.......smart move....its bound to happen, if not this year, then next year.......he wants his stats, and the only way hes getting them is if he plays, which god hopefully he wont!!!! |
Really don't understand this signing. They would've been better off gambling on two or three Spring training invitees. He's only had one year that deserves anything close to that money or term.
|
oddly similar stats on ARod from 2013 to Headley in 2014 for the Yankees
I posted headley in 58 games, ARod in 44 games of 2013 was .244, 7 HR, 19 RBI, but .272/18/57 in 2012, 122 games..... just not sure what ARod you will get, he hasn't his over .280 since 2009, and not over .300 since 2008 |
sadly, yes. are you shocked really by this, the yankees don't care about money, luxury tax, any of it..... as a yankee fan it sickens me, but i'm used to it
But I don't understand the logic of fixing a huge financial issue with throwing a boat load of money at another mediocre guy to fill the position. Doesn't common sense tell you to play A-Rod at 3rd and hope for an injury? :p |
Thank god the Yankees came through and signed him before the Giants took a shot at him.
I'd rather have Arias playing 3rd than overpaying for Headly |
If Aroid is a full time DH, Beltran, Texiera, and McCann better get in shape lol
|
If Aroid is a full time DB, Beltran, Texiera, and McCann better get in shape lol
Fix for you!! LOLOLOLOL |
Joe and Evan are killing the Yankees hahaha
|
I honestly like this signing. He played fairly well for the Yanks in the second half he was with them. He is an upgrade over A-Rod. He has an amazing glove at 3rd and is an above average hitter.

couldnt agree more!!!! Im done watching arod butcher routine ground balls and have no range what so ever!!!! |

What will Asdrubel Cabrera get? If he signs for a lot less, how are the Yankees not better having Prado at third and Cabrera at second? Plus they can put that extra money towards Scherzer |
Where exactly are A-Rod and his contract going???:confused::confused:
Arod back to shortstop? :p |
The Yankees are okay with that much money sitting / DHing?
Yikes.
That's what happens when you have someone as an Owner who shouldn't really be one. |
With Luxury Tax, that contract is going to cost the Yankees $75 million.
Incredible what these guys pay for mediocrity.
I thought there was an "absolutely zero" chance of the Yankees retaining Headley. Weird. Headley quoted as saying he'd never have thought he would have liked playing for the Yankees before he got there, now he signs on for four more years. Guess there was value in giving up meh assets for a stretch/trial run. |
With Luxury Tax, that contract is going to cost the Yankees $75 million.
Incredible what these guys pay for mediocrity.
And Pablo Sandoval is getting paid $95mm. Amazing what the Red Sox will pay for mediocrity. |
And Pablo Sandoval is getting paid $95mm. Amazing what the Red Sox will pay for mediocrity.
I agree with this too. |
Also, Miller and Headley cost $88mm, Sandoval cost $95mm.
|
And Pablo Sandoval is getting paid $95mm. Amazing what the Red Sox will pay for mediocrity.
And every Red Sox fan outside of Ralpho hates it. Unfortunately the price of mediocrity has gone up exponentially every year... |
Also, Miller and Headley cost $88mm, Sandoval cost $95mm.
Sandoval is slightly less mediocre than Headley, but yea both were horrible signings. |
headleys value in based on his defense. If he hits 250 and knocks in some runs I guess thats OK. of course its a ton of money but compared to the other contracts this dont seem to bad
|
Damn Yankees. This is a great signing. Not just great defense, Headley has been strong at the plate his entire career. His only real rough stretch was at the beginning of the year in San Diego. After he arrived in NY he looked fine. In fact he ended up with 3.5 WAR this year. It must be nice to have infinite money.
