WOW and Jerry Reese is fired as well.

abcrider04 12-04-2017 11:41 AM

I never liked the look on his face

palmetto7 12-04-2017 11:48 AM

Good news, the teams effort and behavior has beeen dreadful this year.

chrisfaceoff 12-04-2017 11:48 AM

Ben McAdoo is Gordon Bombay in D2 The Mighty Ducks when he becomes enamored with the life of being coach of USA hockey and turns into a douche, Captain Blood.

Now can Irsay can Pagano’s sorry ass or will we have to wait until the actual Black Monday?

blevins26 12-04-2017 11:58 AM

This was the right move.

Hopefully the Mara family learns that this is why you DO fire a coach mid-season. They let McAdoo hang on and he forever tarnished the legacy of a 2x SB MVP in a desperate attempt to save himself.

I mean, I get he hasnt been great this year, but hasnt like the entire offense been injured? I thought they lost like 8 people to IR this year including Beckham.

I would think it was a mix of performance, how the team just de-railed around him, and even last year while they were winning the offense wasn't doing all that hot. There was too much irreparable damage done I think and Eli's streak and benching the way it was handled was the final straw for the owner.

16 players to IR actually, with others missing multiple games (Pugh, Apple)

I think benching Eli was the last straw of like, "how can we let this guy keep coaching?"

This isn't the Tom Coughlin firing where you could excuse the record due to injuries.

This is an offense that trended downward as last season went on. They have been horrid this year, both with & without their starters.

This is a defense that was great last year and gave up 51 a few weeks ago. Multiple players have been suspended with very little reason given.

I think McAdoo's failure was more in the people aspect of the game than X's & O's. I'm glad he's gone, just wish it was sooner.

Copeskey45 12-04-2017 12:09 PM

Kinda ironic after his smart#@#@#@ comment after the game lol.

BoxBreaker72 12-04-2017 12:14 PM

As a Lions fan, I'm super jelly.

Congrats NY fans.

spuds1961 12-04-2017 12:18 PM

Woo-Effing-Hoo, this made my day.

ND3 12-04-2017 12:19 PM

SHould have happened sooner. Giants fan I am not.

Majority of team is on IR....yes. Eli hasn't been great this year...yes.

You sit the guy for what? Because can't coach your way out of a wet paperbag Mcadoo. Great coaches over come team adversity and find a way to get it done. Slick your hair back and wear some sunglasses that served you well McaPoo!

As for Reese...he hung his hat on what Ernie Acorsi did for years prior to him taking over. You hit home runs on a few guys.........but wiffed on a majority.

Giants your team is gonna be in better hands moving forward!

majestik101 12-04-2017 12:23 PM

But..... WHY?

Having watched a number of McAdoo's press conferences, he came off as a man with zero-leadership ability, a lack of personal accountability, and generally clueless.

He never had control of the team. Coughlin was a renowned disciplinarian, and a lot of guys in the league didn't want to play for him, but I never recall him having to suspend top players for mysterious reasons. The guy had no control of his team, which I believe can also be seen in their play over the latter half of the season.

Then the whole Eli debacle demonstrated McAdoo/Reese had a lack of respect for veterans and team/history, made no football sense, alienated fans further, and made no football sense (desperate attempt to save job).

I don't think you fire a coach for a bad season, but a bad season can tell you a lot about who your coach is. McAdoo is an incompetent coward. In good faith, I am trying to think of another coach in recent memory for any tea, I would say that about...and I am drawing a blank. Kiffin maybe? But I recall him having some level of competence.

Ownership had no choice. I'd be stunned if McAdoo ever sniffs a coordinator position again.

hairysasquatch 12-04-2017 12:54 PM

Perv sunglasses worn yesterday were reportedly the final straw for ownership.
