Anyone else read Age of Ultron?

I thought it was amazing, can't wait to keep reading. From the first page to the last page (which is kind of iconic in my mind already), this series seems like it's going to be pretty extreme for a Marvel book, kind of along the lines of Ultimatum. What did you guys think?

Jamoch00 03-08-2013 03:42 PM

I wasn't going to but I read this may be the return of Peter Parker . Not sure how it happens, or even where I read it but that's enough to pull me in.

Kuma 03-08-2013 06:12 PM

it was alright, it has some potential though

Hawkeye was a bad mofo in the book. The ending was a good teaser (makes you wonder how the city and the heroes got to that state).

like it so far, we'll see next week when #2 comes out weds

ZombieBite 03-08-2013 10:21 PM

I read it and enjoyed it. Ultron has the world in lockdown. Either submit to him or die. I was never really a Hawkeye fan but he does good in this first issue. I will say that I dont like She-Hulk's hair. I prefer her character with the long hair. Overall, I have the whole series on my Pull List and even the tie ins.

The Skottie Young cover is awesome and isnt priced to bad on eBay

Those were pretty much all my exact thoughts, as well as how Spidey was captured. I'm glad we will get #2 next week, won't have to wait a whole month. I'll probably be in for every AU and all the tie ins now too, which I think is about 20+ books total. That last page with Cap is just priceless.

I finally got around to reading it, and I couldn't agree more. I'm looking forward to the next one

Good Read ! Hawkeye is kicking some arse.

Burt-Reynolds 03-10-2013 03:14 PM

flipped through it at the shop. i have strict policy of not getting involved in company cash grab crossovers anymore ever since the civil turd storyline. they just annoy me and they never really mean anything as much as they want you to think they do. marvel is the worst with this.

anyway what bugs me is that spider man is acting really parkery in this storyline, his dialogue and uniform are all parker, yet in the superior tie in he's otto and in his new costume.

then look at this preview for issue 2 and tell me this isn't parker.

it's just super sloppy, and has no continuity, i've heard some people say this is a alternate reality storyline which really wouldn't shock me, but this whole thing just screams sloppy cash grab to me.

unless parker gets his body back sometime during this storyline and that's why he is parker in the ultron books and otto in the superior

I agree with pretty much everything you said.

Also, I can't stand Hitch.

Kuma 03-11-2013 02:39 AM

I can deal with Hitch, it's just bends needs to stay away from the Avengers. His Xmen and Daredevil are great

jasonadkins 03-11-2013 03:27 AM

Just like Ultimatum, I don't expect this to have contiunity in the Marvel Universe, but it's an awesome, fresh/very original storyline with probably 18 of the top 25 best characters in comic book history. There's no such thing as true continuity in comic books anyways; Sabretooth died of old age after living a Christian life later on in Wolverine: The End, but then died by getting his head chopped off by Wolvie 60 years earlier with a mystical sword in Wolverine #55 Volume 3. Captain America, Colassaus, Spider-Man have all died multiple times, yet people keep buying books about them as if nothing ever happened when they come back.

Just take it for what it is; it's own separate storyline, but through just one issue it seems like it's got awesome written all over it. I'm very glad I can pick up #2 this Wednesday.

kyleg40 03-11-2013 03:48 AM

I actually picked up the hastings variant and the chrome cover, I love the chrome cover, something about it..Sure would be nice if they could make this an alternate universe series..Good writing, which is a rarity lately at marvel

Now that's pretty freakin' cool.

TEKWATCH 03-13-2013 01:04 AM

I have the regular cover and 7 other Variants. All Lists say there are 10 in total for $1 when in fact there are 12 covers.

Pacerjones20 03-14-2013 05:24 AM

probably completely wrong but maybe otto puts his mind into one of the robots?.....and peter gets his back.....i have no idea but it's really bugging me that they have a tie in with superior spiderman, but it's peter parker in the first couple issues

jasonadkins 03-14-2013 08:30 AM

Yeah, Spidey seems really whiny, making you think it's Peter Parker rather than Otto, but there's nothing definitive yet. #2 was a little uneventful, it was basically an explanation of how Spidey was captured and a setup for future issues, the last page left some intrigue again. I'm committed to reading each issue, let's see where it goes. Bendis is going to be in Vegas in two weeks so I'm going to get him to sign some Midtown Variants and then get them double signed by J. Scott Campbell in LA in a few weeks; they should look great.

pack9001 03-14-2013 04:59 PM

I'm pretty much in agreement with everyone here. I am definitely enjoying the story so far. I wasn't going to get any of the tie-ins originally (just the main storyline), but now I'm tempted. I did pick up the regular chrome, Midtown and Skottie variants for Book 1 and the regular and what I believe is the Rock-He Kim variant of Book 2 (it looks a lot like the Book 1 variant - same style, and that's how it's labeled on CCL). I'm interested to see how they are going to explain the Peter/Doc Ock Spidey thing as this story goes on.

B) I spoke with Brian Michael Bendis for about three minutes about AoU today, will make a relatively detailed post on it later tonight
