Is 2017 Topps Update worth gambling on?
 

With the way Bellinger and Judge are playing out, is it worth snagging a case at the current price of $60 a box?

This would be Bellinger's first KNOWN rookie right now.

That, and Judge will more than likely have a few (at least a Rookie Debut and an All Star Card). Happ also has a chance.

I have been thinking about that as well.
I am tempted to get a case this weekend with the extra $25 coupon from blowout.
Now, the questions is due you get the hobby or jumbo case.
with coupon hobby would be $55 per box jumbo $92

Anything this year is worth the purchase/gamble....imo

Jumbo has one auto per box, hobby has one auto or relic.

You will usually get 2-3 more autos in a Jumbo case.

Seems people lean towards Jumbos. That said, 55-60 a box will make this a tough break in my opinion.

I got a jumbo case due to the more autos and we know that there will be an auto of Bellinger's auto in it but hobby offers a shot at bigger variations do to the 1500 more cards.

I got one and will probably do another. Can't decide yet.

You'll never get a definitive answer to this question, might just come down to price and less work for jumbos.

Don't you think Judge and Bellinger will have RC's in Topps Chrome? Wouldn't that be the one to own? We know Judge will cause he was in Topps 1, but no Bellinger cause he was omitted from Series 2?

Hobby would have 1 auto or relic per box = 12 "hits" per case
Jumbo would have 1 auto and 2 relic per box = "18 "hits per case 6 guaranteed autos.

What about other parallels cards?
Any insight into the better odds of SP's? variations? others?

I am going with a Blaster Case of update for the price and how many cards you get I feel its a better buy. Sure you get more autos and jerseys in the hobby and jumbo, and the black and clear parallels but if you really look at the breakdown of hobby, jumbo, and blasters, I feel its the way to go just like with archives.

I've got 3 hobby cases and 2 jumbo coming my way. Update Master sets are highly collectible and with the RCs that should be in there I think it's a safe bet that sets w/o inserts get you $40 a piece. Whether it's a good break or a great break will depend on production.

40 a set? 2013 has the Arenado and the last 2 sets have brought 20 and 11 dollars.

I just don't see the value at 650-700 a case. People will take a beating.

Topps did a Bellinger mockup for Triple Threads, so who knows what he will be in between now and Update. For all we know Stadium was delayed so they could add him.

And how many people are searching for 2013 Topps Update sets in June 2017?

Out of the gate, people will be buying. Those cards not being in the factory sets is part of the reason why Update is about as safe as a release gets.
