Canseco Contest! And a thank you!
I just crossed the 2000 unique Canseco card mark! It's not "official" as they still need to be delivered, but it's my party and I'll do it how I want :)
To celebrate, I want to give back to the community - I have a 1986 Topps Traded PSA 10 that I'm going to randomly give away! In order to be in consideration you need to do one thing: post a reply of who your favorite baseball player is and what your favorite card of him is. Bonus points (that don't actually count toward anything) if you post a picture of the card. Next Saturday, August 19th, I'll 3x randomize a list of the people that reply and announce the winner! Now that the fun part is over, I'll give a little backstory - you can read the origin story on my website but I'll start off at the beginning of this year. I dove headfirst back into the hobby in January/February and haven't looked back. I first cold-emailed Tanner on February 8th asking him if he had any doubles he'd part with, and we worked out my first deal. Little did he know what he was getting into :), but both he and AJ (as well as a couple of others) have begrudgingly accepted me into the world of Canseco collectors. February is also when I found the Blowout Forums and you all are the reason why I'm more than happy to give back as a token of thanks and appreciation. There is SO MUCH information and knowledge within this community, it's absolutely amazing. You have to sift through a lot of Judge to find it these days but it's still there :) I particularly love seeing the '90s and '00s inserts that I missed out on during my 25 year hiatus, hearing about the multi-year projects that people finally complete, and seeing the appreciation for the junk-wax that captured a lot of us in the first place. There are obviously a lot of people that (try to) do it for the money - which is fine, I believe they help out the collectors more than they get credit for - but I'm confident in saying as someone who's relatively new here that the hobby is very alive and well. There has been and always will be peaks and valleys but time is indeed a flat circle. People will be here for the money, people will be here for the love, and people will leave because of the lack of either (or both!) of those things. Thank you to everyone who has helped me so far, and hopefully there will be more of you in the future :) Even when there are days I get frustrated that Tanner gets all of the 1/1's I know I can still count on BO to provide awesome stories, information, and general ridiculousness to distract me from doing my actual job or vacuuming the floor which my wife always tells me to do. And then I remember, there will always be more 1/1's :) |
Another slugger Aaron Judge - And my newly pulled Aaron Judge 2017 Topps Stadium Club Chrome Refractor auto #/10 ?

Congrats! That's quite the feat.
As for favorite players, the one and only :) Tough choice, but I'll go with the 2014 Topps Chrome Buyback Auto /5 Posey PC by texmcpherson, on Flickr |
Thanks

Cool idea...congrats on your achievement!
Nolan Ryan 1993 Finest Refractor |
Awesome Matt! Keep at it, 3K is around the bend!
Here is not only my favorite player, but the best card in my collection! |
Canseco Contest! And a thank you!
My username doesn't just have 33 by it for nothing :)!
Since I was a little kid this has always been my favorite Canseco card Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
My favorite player ever is hands down Ken Griffey Jr and Fav card is 1989 upper deck(of course) I remember secretly(I was 10) bringing my Lawrence Taylor Auto Full Size Helmet and an old Mays Auto Bat(got it from my grandmother's cousin) to the shady LCS down the road and trading them for store credit to get boxes of 89 upper deck low # so I could pull a Griffey Rookie. Once my Mom got wind of that, I wasn't allowed to ride my bike to the LCS alone anymore.
Side note:I pulled a few back then and ended up getting 2 of them Autographed by him at a card show in Albany, NY. Only to lose them later on I life as a teenager |
I am not entering the contest because I already have one of these, and wouldn't want to spoil a spot for someone else to get one, but I have enjoyed speaking with you (over email, anyway!)
Rather than put my favorite "real" card, I'll put my favorite (or at least newest) "digital" card I made last night. Just make sure you don't stare at it for longer than 20 seconds at a time :) |
Mouschi that is awesome..and mattglet congrats on that accomplishment

I don't really PC him much amymore, but it's been Griffey Jr since the early 90s. I'm lucky enough to work at a place that he is a spokesperson for, so I got to meet him in person a couple years ago and may have another opportunity this year. Anyway, I had him sign this.

Loved the Bash Brothers growing up (along with Eck, Dave Stewart, Carney Lansford, and Rickey), was never sure why since I was an Astros fan first. Thanks for the contest and here's (one of) my favorites

Congrats on the milestone! Favorite player is George Brett, and favorite card is his 1975 RC. I have a few copies, but the raw one I first picked up around the age of 12 is my favorite card. Sorry no picture but thanks for the contest!
|
:)!:flex: Very nice and impressive collection !
My favorite player is Carlton Fisk, and my favorite card of him is his 1975 Topps. Picture is in my Avatar ! Thanks for the contest :)! |
Congrats on the milestone! Awesome point to get to.
My favorite modern player would be Sano, and have just started my PC of him this year as I stopped collecting for a while. Favorite all time is Puckett by far. Again I sold almost all my stuff a couple years ago when I needed money so I have next to nothing and am slowly rebuilding. My favorite two of his I used to have that sadly do not anymore were my 1984 Fleer Update RC PSA 9 or my 1993 Finest Refractor. Sad both of those are gone and I can't afford to replace yet. |
Tanner - I've timed myself. I can make it up to 18 seconds before I have to look away. I'll keep working on it :)

Thanks for the contest. Frank Thomas has been my favorite player since I was a kid.
I remember getting the 1990 Leaf rookie card back in the early 90s. |
Canseco Contest! And a thank you!
Mad props, 2000 unique cards of a single player is an awesome accomplishment.
Chuck Knoblauch is my guy, and nothing beats the 1992 Score buyback of his 1990 Score RC, auto'd in gold ink and #'d to 3000. Its the one in the middle: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow, Chuck Knoblauch... there's a guy I haven't thought about in a long time. That's awesome that you collect him. You're right, that buyback auto is amazing! |

Not sure if you intended to do that but very creative. |
I was going through some old cards. I found a canseco card where if he hits a home run on the date that is on the card you send the card in for prize. I looked up the date and he hit a home run on that date. Thought it was kind of cool.

Congrats, dude. Manny is my guy. This card is my favorite. 2013 Heritage brought me back to collecting, I'm not a huge Heritage guy, and the gold is just marvelous. |

Yes that was intended. Tanner is the master cardsmith. |
