Official 2018 Trade Deadline Rumors/Speculation thread
Dearest Blowout,
It's that time again. The trade deadline is 17 days away. Seems like a year where a lot could happen. The objective of this thread is twofold. First, to report trades that are REPORTEDLY being speculated on. In these cases, post a link to the source of what you're finding. Second, to discuss your own trade ideas. But in this case, please do the forum a favor and make it clear that you're not reporting anything, but suggesting an idea that might work for both sides. Hopefully we get to see a few trades that shake up the NBA landscape a little. That's always fun. |
Now.... don't everyone jump in at once. Let's keep this nice and organized. :)
|
I very much support the clear guidelines in the OP.

Revoking my foolish commentary.

I live to serve.
Revoking my foolish commentary.
You shouldn't! Brogden certainly has value. You guys need to get some shooting on that team. My Jazz are an interesting bunch around the deadline. I'd like to see the team flip any/all of the following guys if it gets them one legit core piece. Favors, Burks, Rubio, Joe Johnson, Thabo Sefolosha (hurt... but you can still trade his contract). |
If the Hawks think they might be able to get Trea Young in the draft, I would love to see if they could get something for Schroder before the deadline. I like him, I just think Young has the potential to be a huge superstar in the league and that might be enough to draw other players to want to play with him. Guys are not beating down the door to play with Dennis! :)

Who wants Dennis? On that contract as their starting PG? Kinda reminds me of Rubio..... doesn't seem like anyone really wants him to be their starting PG.... |
This is my thought on the Bulls. Send Mirotic to a contender for a late 1st round pick. Package it up with Robin Lopez and maybe we can also snag a 2nd round pick or future protected 1st round pick.

Kinda reminds me of Rubio..... doesn't seem like anyone really wants him to be their starting PG....
I would think there are several teams that might want him actually. He is averaging 20 points and almost 7 assists right now and has improved in just about every stat category each year since he came into the league. Where he might "fit"? You may have a point if that is what you are saying. |
I'd like to see AD traded to a team the hobby cares about
|
Wizards need to make a move, but I really really hope that they do not trade their 1st rounder this year. They need young talent.

If he stayed with one team and maybe won some more games and in the playoffs, his cards would be just fine. |
Hoping Mudiay can get moved to a team that will use him.
Same goes for Shabazz Muhammad. |
I've read that the Magic are shopping Efrid, Vucevic, Fournier and Hezonja. I like all of those guys but if I had to choose, I'd hope to keep Mario.

I'd be surprised to see the Hawks move Dennis. I think they would be hoping for Ayton or Bagley in the draft. |
I hope the Cavs ship out IT. Back to Phoenix or Sacramento would be hilarious.

Surely it's a little early to give up on him? He's also in a contract year, I think he'll ball out after the All Star break. |

So they should, and add Gordon too. They're trash. I can't help but feel Crowder and IT can't be feeling the best after LeBron apparently saying he wanted PG and Bledsoe. |

That's absurd if true. You don't join a championship team and call out one of the players that has been there and won them said championship, like you run the joint. |

I don’t. Some people do. I guess he can be a long term bench guy? But nah, I don’t think he’s a core piece. But maybe I’m wrong. Definitely need shooting next to Gobert. |

If they can get a late first or early second round pick back for Mario, they should move him. They're not gonna be able to afford him once he hits free agency. They recently stated that they're only going to trade for something that helps a few years down the line, no more quick fixes.
So they should, and add Gordon too. He's one of the only good things about this season. The new management won't make the same mistake old management made. |

If I was Love and IT spoke to me like that I'd sock him one in the face. K. Love deserves more respect. I don't know about all of you... but I spend far too much of my time these days thinking about fake trades...
Here's my trade idea for today. Cavs send Tristan Thompson, and Iman Shumpert (and the $42m they're do following this season) AND the Nets pick to the Jazz for Derrick Favors, Joe Johnson and Rodney Hood. This is a case of two teams with different current and long term goals each trading today for tomorrow and vice versa. Thoughts? |

They're not moving the Nets pick to get rid of Thompson and Shumpert for expirings. I think it would be a dumb move on their part, they might get better this year but they lost their best long-term asset. If you replace Thompson with JR Smith and add a future conditional first? Then I can see it happening. |
