WORST songs by bands you LOVE
Okay, so we've talked about annoying songs, best/worst concerts, etc., but I thought it might be interesting to touch on songs you can't stand by bands/artists you've always loved. Pretty much all musicians, no matter how good their catalog is, have some duds. Here are some I can think of by some of my favorite bands...
RUSH: Tai Shan, Dog Years, I Think I'm Going Bald, Neurotica, Spindrift, Good News First...and as far as their 'epics' (ten-plus minutes), the only one I just can't get into is Fountain of Lamneth Metallica: Purify (worst Metallica song ever!!!), Ronnie (second-worst), Cure, Shoot Me Again Queen: the entire Hot Space album (except Under Pressure); Pain is so Close to Pleasure Green Day: All the Time, Worry Rock, Misery, Kill the DJ, Stray Heart, Nightlife, Say Goodbye |
I don't love Aerosmith, but that stupid song from Armageddon (also a terrible movie) is absolutely just awful.

Love Weezer .... Hate "Island in the Sun"

Hey, hey... (I'd take Island over Beverly Hills, though) |

Love weezer, hate Beverly Hills |
Duran Duran - There are some nice covers on the “Thank You” album, but their attempt to cover Public Enemy’s “911 Is A Joke” is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard. It’s hard to listen to it on a covers album that includes the contrastingly amazing “Perfect Day” which Lou Reed called the greatest cover of any song he ever wrote.

Only two I can think of off the top of my head would be Pearl Jam's Better Man and Pink's What About Us.
|
U2: The Sweetest Thing is like nails on a chalkboard
|
Steve Miller Band Abracadabra.
Or Steve Miller Band Shangri-La. I really don't know which is worse, both are god-awful. And this from the guy who recorded Fly Like An Eagle and The Joker. Steve, Steve, Steve...what happened Steve? |

I can't stand Pink Floyd's The Great Gig In The Sky from Dark Side Of The Moon. The rest of the album is amazing...except for that piece of hideousness.
I love what Emerson Lake and Palmer did but barely tolerate (at best) Benny the Bouncer from Brain Salad Surgery. |

Weezer hasn't put out anything decent in years. |
I love the band America... but Muskrat Love has got to go.
|
Elton John - virtually everything after 1986. Unadulterated sellout drivel and music sucks too.

White album was pretty good Metallica - Enter Sandman Iron Maiden - the angel and the gambler |

Pearl Jam sucks in general. |

You kiss your momma with that mouth?? |
Nothing Else Matter by Metallica.

Tai Shan actually grew on me after 20 years (even though Rush is on record saying that was a HUGE mistake) and I think I’m the ONLY person on the PLANET that thinks Neurotica is decent. I’ve listened to CoS maybe twice in my lifetime.......so that says what I think of that album. |

HUGE DD fan here. My pick is the title track from Big Thing. Was really looking forward to that record and when I got it home and it opened with THAT, I ALMOST didn’t listen to the rest. Thank God, Edge of America and Do You Believe in Shame saved it. |

I knew there was a reason I liked you. Big Thing is a favorite album of mine, but the opening track is soooooooo bad. I also remember the first time I brought that home from The Wherehouse and cringed at the opening lyrics to the title track. Fortunately, I too moved past it and found the rest of the album to be way ahead of its time. The LSD Edit is a gem and Warren shreds so damn good on that track. It’s one of my favorite DD tracks off any album. |

I like the band and the song, but absolutely love the Spike Jonze version of the video: My pick is the legendary Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly". A big hit, but just such incredibly lazy songwriting. I wince when I hear it. Also never liked "Another One Bites The Dust" from the otherwise all-time great Queen. |
Happy Birthday by Mildred and Patty Hill. I used to love it but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to hate it. Plus, it has been way overplayed.
|
Love Weezer, hate the span of albums from Make Believe to Hurley (except for 'Pork and Beans' and 'I Want You To').
