Kawhi Leonard RC Question

This may be a stupid question or might have been answered before so please forgive me in advance.

I 'bought' a 2011-2012 Kawhi Leonard Limited Auto a few weeks ago on Panini Rewards. While looking it up I noticed all his rookie cards (Prizm, etc) are 2012-2013. Why is this if he played 64 games in the 2011-2012 season and there are cards such as the one I picked up from Panini Rewards from that season?

I saw that on there. Good pickup.

2011-12 didn't have any rookie sets due to the players strike. All 2011 rookies are included in 2012-13 sets.
