So...been a while. Need some hof 16x20 feedback.

Hey everyone it’s been a long time but it was a nice break.
I have a few things that are about to be up for sale and I’m having a hard time finding the best option to do so. I’ll post some pics and you will see what I mean!

Ok...it’s actually been so long I don’t remember how to post pics on here!

Long story short I’m selling multiple 16x20s very nicely framed which is great but so expensive to ship as you all know!

Notable names are...
DiMaggio
Ted Williams
Koufax etc.

Question is what In the world should I do?! Local shows (Jacksonville Fl) suck all sorts of testicles and i tried there a while back but with low foot traffic and not a lot of expendable dollars in the room it went ok but not fantastic. Also I don’t think it’s enough to do the national so I was wondering about maybe some bigger shows like Chantilly which our local shop does and didn’t seem too expensive table wise.

Anyways sorry it’s such a long post, also have a chunk of nice cards (mostly football hof but some baseball) and I’ve sold and bought a lot on here in the past but I would sell them at the show as well. THANKS SO MUCH for reading is anyone made it this far and any help would be so appreciated. Also selling for around half of the price I’ve purchased not even including framing. New baby on the way and running out of room!

P.S. figured out the pictures. Would it be easier/more profitable to sell them unframed?

Colllama 01-31-2019 12:35 AM

I'm interested in several if you'd like to send me a message

That’s a good question I’m really not sure to be honest. Your thoughts?

Thanks so much! I’m just very torn on what to do because the framing is really nice and expensive but unfortunately we have just run out of room. It seems like taking them out of the frame would be the best move I just hate to do it.

I’d keep them in the frames.

poppincurbs 01-31-2019 09:16 AM

I would sell them without the frame for 2 reasons: will be cheaper to ship, and you don't have to worry about broken glass destroying your piece. (Had this happen to me on a framed 16x20 and refuse to ship glass anymore). It's just not worth the risk on guys that are no longer signing IMO (Dimaggio/Williams etc!!)

I would probably get large poster tubes and ship them in those which will only cost $4-$7 likely to ship and won't harm or crease the piece if you gently roll them. Or they make 16x20 "top loaders" you could get from your LCS for a couple bucks, and ship in a large bubbler or flat between 2 large pieces of cardboard (will go Priority for $8-$12 most likely).

Good luck!

I would have to agree with the take them out of frames, makes selling easier and cheaper for each side. Interested what you're asking for them?

Guys, thanks so much for all the info and advice. I’ll be putting some prices on them (unframed) today most likely and see how that goes but of course leave them framed in the meantime.

I sell tons of high end memorabilia every year. Stuff always sells for more framed, especially a good frame job.

That Griffey Jersey is about a $200-300 Jersey by itself. In that frame its $450-600. Several other examples as well where your item is going to go down significantly without the frame.

It’s for sure solid framing, I think Griffey was around $200 just for the framing. Where do you do most of your selling? I’d like to do the national since I was thinking of going anyways since I missed last years but I don’t think I have enough to make it worth paying for a table.

I agree to an extent, esp the jersey as most don't want to pay to have jerseys framed and presents better that way. For the pictures through, they look nice framed but those frames aren't anything extra special (they do look nice, not saying that), think would open the pool of buyers more as pictures even if not as high a price. I wouldn't buy any of those in those frames as I would switch out frames and don't want to pay the extra to get them shipped in them, but would without and frame them myself.

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it. Also I don’t know if I’ve mentioned but I am going to be selling it for less than what I purchased of course just to get them out of the house frames or no frames. I’m just wondering if I should try a decent sized show first before I decide to go the other route.

The frames can be bought cheap at michaels they dont add anything. The jersey is ok on the other hand. A 15 dollar frame isn’t adding anything

I had them done “professionally” for whatever that’s worth haha.

If you're doing a show I would 100% leave them framed, presents better and can get that premium. Once done with shows, anything that doesn't sell and you do online I would take out of frames.

I think these thoughts echo my thoughts as well. Maybe what I’ll do is I’ll give folks on here first crack at them since I have to look at the dates of the shows and then after the show I will give it a shot on here again.

these are tastefully framed and clearly professionally framed. i see so many go on the cheap with framing which end up yellowing and ruining the print and find the auto fading.

signed memorabilia doesnt hold all that much value. with the numbers of cards that are produced each year it seems that as time goes on the value of a signed photo lies more in the memory of having it signed over actual cash value.

if you do a show or even try to sell a bulk i would not take them out of the frames. the value of these are the combo of nice photos plus the frames. the collector you want to seek out should appreciate the entire package.

good luck

I’m glad you see that! I think it does make a big difference having them professionally framed for the reasons you mentioned but I could see how it will not work online. Just need to find a show big enough!

Again love all the feedback and please keep it going if possible.
