Football cards that never were - what do you wish existed?

I started out a thread making basketball cards that never were on MS Paint, and they are in that section, here if you want to see them:

Now I've also been working on some football cards that never were. One I always wondered about was Joe Montana, who of course has that classic 1981 Topps rookie. However, Montana was actually a rookie in 1979, not 1980, but played sparingly enough that Topps didn't find him worthy of a card. But what if they had? I wanted to see one.

Someone in the other thread brought up the fact that Kurt Warner was in the Packers camp back in 1994, and wondered what a 94 Bowman version of that card would be:

Do I have any more requests? I've been enjoying doing these.

Khalil Mack contenders

Siberian13 02-17-2019 09:23 AM

Deion Jones Contenders

Coug46n2 02-17-2019 09:37 AM

Steve Gleason Contenders Auto. The year would be tough to determine. I'll go with 2006 since that was his only year with any card produced.

I will request a 2000 Brady Topps chrome

The first two are awesome

nice montana - but you left too much of the logo on the helmet. remember, those were the unlicensed years and no logos visible.

on a side note - rams cards from that era do have the horns on the helmets which i find odd

The logo can barely be seen. I'm not certain Topps would have even bothered to airbrush it.

That Warner is really awesome! Well done.

I would like to have seen some kind of rookie for Jeff Saturday in 1998 or 1999. Another would be to have a Tarik Glenn Skybox Rubies in 1997.

TheFrenzy 02-17-2019 11:22 AM

Pat Tillman - 2001 SP Authentic
Pat Tillman - 2001 Topps Chrome
Pat Tillman - 2001 Contenders

Any of these would be awesome.

The moment a player got crushed with helmet flying off.

Make that an insert cards set for a product would be so cool.

The 80s Topps baseball subsets (like '83 now and then, .84 all-time leaders, ect) for football.
1986 Topps USFL
2012 Topps Chrome Tony Gonzalez

Boy, there are some great ideas in here. I had better get to work.

The Best Pat Tillman card isn't even a Pat Tillman card. It's a Pacific card, I believe a Washington Redskin running back. Card shows Tillman's full jersey name of him.

88Horsepower - Tarik Glenn was in the SP product therefore it's not as he was being dismissed.

Siberian- K. Mack was in a ton of products

Meteor- Best suggestion yet, 1986 Topps USFL set.

they would have, here is a '79 but similar position. look closely and you will see the gold airbrush section.

that's why i am not sure how the rams horns passed.

Cyphon25 02-17-2019 04:38 PM

For me it is mostly just some Steelers players autos I'd like to see. If I could choose any I think I might go with a National Treasures Notable Nicknames signed by Casey Hampton that also says "Big Snack" on it.

Another set I always thought would be fun but will never happen would be like a football criminals/suspension set type of deal.

Have like a Ray Rice card in a Mike Tysons Punch Out setting, an Aaron Hernandez Grand Theft Auto type of card. Could be an amazing set if done right.

I’m a Khalil Mack fan and collector. It’s the one card I wish existed and was made of him.

GatorPie 02-17-2019 08:44 PM

Well, this one nearly killed me, and it's far from perfect. It's just too complex unless you wanted to spend days fiddling with it.

1981 Topps Bill Ring.

I totally forgot to mention this one.... fantastic

GatorPie 02-17-2019 10:17 PM

Someone mentioned Earl Campbell cards from the 80's.
